My favorite Focker. The best actor of his generation. Awesome in everything he does, going back to Mean Streets and Bang The Drum Slowly.

What an amazing actor. My favorite DeNiro films are Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. It was also great seeing him in Awakenings. He has proven over the years that he's an extremely versatile actor.
kattwoman 05/19/2005

Perhaps the greatest living actor today, Robert Deniro will always be known for his gritty performances. From his memorable portrayal as young Vito Corleone in 'The Godfather' to his humorous portrayal as a mobster in 'Analyze This', Deniro has the range of few others in Hollywood. But perhaps his greatest role was in Martin Scorsese's disturbing masterpiece, 'Raging Bull' as Deniro's Jake Lamotta was too real for many viewers. His celebrated transformation from killer boxer to bloated nightclub owner/personal wreck can only be reinforced as he became the despicable Lamotta through a staggering weight gain of sixty pounds. A method actor? Yes, but he is more than that. Deniro is an acting god and legend who can potentially win the Oscar for best actor year in and year out with any role.
afn61140 03/20/2005
I think his work is classic, but he could never have done Roy Cohn in Angels in America
vetteman03 03/13/2005
My favorite actor of all time. Watch Goodfellas, then A Bronx Tale, and then Meet the Parents and you will see the versatility of this mans talent.
Rocketqueen 03/12/2005
I liked De Niro in his older films, he was the BEST! But his more recent films suck!
Maomania 03/01/2005
I am aware that he is a Hollywood Legend. I just think he is overrated. I'm glad that he is still successfull, but his current movies do not require great acting skills. But he is in some great movies.
magneto101 02/25/2005
yip one of the best actors of our generation up there with the best of them but al pacino is better i think
Skizero 02/14/2005
i respect what the guy did from 1973-1980, and a few scattered pictures here and there. but have you looked at DeNiro's career overall. filled w/more bad moved than you can shake a stick at. yeah, he'd just like Brando. Brando became a hack, starring in paycheck movies too, later in his career.
Orville1339 02/14/2005
He's good but he picks too many bad movies. For example The Fan. He should stick with movies that are up to his standards and not be a sellout.
ILoveKubrik 02/14/2005
After Brando the most versatile American actor.
edt4 01/14/2005
Whatever happened to this guy? Without a doubt, he was one of America's great actors. You wouldn't know it going by the movies he's in today, where his standard role seems to be the befuddled, inarticulate older guy with a low boiling point. Whoever thought the guy who brought the characters of Travis Bickle or Don Corleone or Jake LaMotta to such vivid, unforgettable life has now been reduced to low-brow comedies and insipid melodramas? Maybe he figures he's made his Art and now its time to make his $$$. Understandable, I suppose, but it's a shame to see him squander his considerable talent like Brando did.
ocsquishy 12/11/2004
One of the greatest actors around! I've loved all of his movies, and i can't wait to see meet the fockers!
russell.j.coll er.jr 12/07/2004
1) Raging Bull 2) Don Corleone 3) Travis Bickle
Gonzalez 12/07/2004
Robert DeNiro is one of the greatest actors of our time. And a very diverse one too. He usually plays the tough role but years ago he did a tremendous role in the movie Awakenings that starred him and Robin Williams. He was stupendous.
WannabeCowboy 11/28/2004
Great actor, but unfortunately I read an article that quoted DeNiro as saying that he would leave America and live in Ireland if George W Bush were re-elected. Well, Mr DeNiro, I dont think the founding fathers had quite that in mind when they divised this amazing experiment in government. But if you want to leave this great country simply because your candidate lost the election...DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS AS YOU'RE LEAVING!
Dev 11/26/2004
The most overated actor. He's the same in every movie. Same facial expressions and attitude. Boring!!
ClassicTVFan47 11/15/2004
Has not been in any good movies. Meet the Parents showed how completely inept he was as an actor.
middlefinger 11/14/2004
He is a very versatile and extremely gifted actor.
Sandi8462 10/23/2004
He is the man! Not only does he play the tough guy role extremely well, but he can be very vunerable. Bang the Drum Slowly, a must see. So convincing. He has shown a good sense of humor as well. A truly gifted artist.
Djahuti 10/07/2004
This man is in a class of his own.Very few come close to his depth and intensity.
jazzybee 09/21/2004
He is like wine, he gets better with age! I loved him in the movies This Boy's Life and Stanley and Iris He even has a sexy East Coast voice. And he was perfect for the role of Stanley Cox and Jane Fonda and him fit each other perfectly in that movie.
Kyle_s1983 09/11/2004
A great actor, especially his performance in Godfather II.
rogue:))) 08/31/2004
He's great!!!
PTRoxieMisha 08/23/2004
Very good, but he needs to be in better films. Since like 1999, most of the movies he's been in really stunk! (With the exception of 2004's Godsend, but even that wasn't exactly that great.)
Chewstick 08/04/2004
Analyze This, nuff said
Jimbo04 07/25/2004
He's not too bad an actor. Meet the Parents is the only movie i have seen him in recent memory that he doesn't swear every four words he says.
Lilly Anne May 07/05/2004
Robert De Niro is NOT overated. He is a great actoer. I loved him in Casino and Good Fellas. I also loved him in Meet the Parents. He can play so many different roles. So what if he has been in a few movies that weren't so good, he still acted well in them.
Protege 07/01/2004
Deniro is overrated. Most of the movies I've seen of him stink. The worst of them being Raging Bull. I've tried to like him and still dont understand what all the hype is. He is good in the mafia roles - it suits him and he always pulls it off. He was good in Goodfellas and Casino but that's about it. Sometimes his acting can be dull and I don't see what's so good about it. He is a decent actor but not a great one.
wiley1827 06/14/2004
He's fun to watch just standing in a phone booth. He has no judgment about which roles to take - he accepts them all and it shows. But I think he's a kick. I like him being menacing. Sometimes complex sometimes simple. He's intersting but overexposed.
trevor3 05/19/2004
It seems to be a criminal offence these days to say a bad word about De Niro. This is despite the fact he has made just one gd movie in the last 10 years. Having said that, his earlier movies were great.
Working-Class_Hero 05/17/2004
100 of roles and characters and movies would have been really silly .. but because of that gentelman it made sence and even touched us ... once he is so damn straight tough guy you almost get scared to look into his eyes ! and once he is so funny like you wish that the movie never ends .. born with a talent is a perfect description for Robert DeNiro
Bird808 04/16/2004
Let me get straight to the point. How many actors do you know who can play a gangster (Goodfellas, Once Upon a Time in America, The Godfather - Part 2) , play comedy (Meet the Parents, Analyze This), or a priest (Sleepers), a cop (15 Minutes) , a family man and a protective father(A Bronx Tale), a boxer (Raging Bull), a thief (The Score), a lunatic (Taxi Driver, The Fan), a soldier (The Deer Hunter), a cold blooded murderer (Cape Fear), a terrible film thats a complete caricature of the original cartoon and still have an excellent career thus prooving you no longer need to proove your a good actor (Rocky and Bullwinkle), an officer(Men of Honour) or the devil (Angel Heart). Some actors have played all of those characters, but how many have done it with conviction. Get the point? DeNiro has played EVERY character and each and everytime without fail he ALWAYS delivers. Hes not like Tom Hanks who only knows how to play two types of characters (comedy or drama). My interpretation of an outstanding actor is not just about delivery, but also being able to convince an audience that your characters are believable and you can play them convincingly in a range of mannerisms that doesn't have a repetitive or recognisable style. To me Robert DeNiro is exactly that.
CherrySoda99 01/19/2004
Robert can definetly make you laugh, or make you sit there in amazment. He acts in all these crappy movies, which makes his perfrmance set out from the rest. I honestly never overly cared for him, but he is pretty good.
DickWeener 01/02/2004
This guy is one of the best. He is a true legend. He may even be the best actor, they are all real close, Jack Nickelson, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Duvall, the list goes on and on. Alot of great acting out their.
Moosekarloff 12/19/2003
Possibly the greatest actor of his generation. Very convincing when a part demands a stretch and charming/capable when he assumes a more typical role. His performances in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Cape Fear were positively rivetting, and he displyed quite a gift for comedy in Analyze This, Meet the Parents, and Brazil. Usually a good judge of scripts but will take a role in a so-so film just to get his face out to the public or to reach an audience that otherwise wouldn't go out to see one of his typical films. I've met him and thought he was a genuinely nice guy who didn't put on airs, yet kept a safe, respectful distance.
Redoedo 12/15/2003
When it comes to preparation and execution of roles, few actors compare to the brilliance of Robert DeNiro. Throughout his 30+ years as an actor, DeNiro has undertaken a wide range of roles, from comedy to drama and back to comedy again. Of course, DeNiro is best known for roles that he played nearly 25 years ago (i.e. Taxi Driver, The Godfather: Part 2). DeNiro's most chilling performance was as the psychopathic criminal Max Cady in 1991's Cape Fear. It is quite obvious that DeNiro engaged in vigorous preparation for the role, and he seemed so into it. Few actors could've matched DeNiro's chilling performance in that film. More recently, DeNiro has successfully tried his hand at comedy roles (Analyze This). The role of Paul Vitti seemed to come so naturally to DeNiro, and yet again, he gave us a brilliant performance. DeNiro was also riveting as the overbearing, somewhat paranoid father in the romantic-comedy Meet the Parents. DeNiro's career continues to flourish (recently, he has revived the role of Paul Vitti in Analyze That). In the final analysis, no one can deny DeNiro's passion for acting. It's quite evident by his careful selection of roles and articulate preparatory measures that he takes, which in the end always produces a great performance.

In my opinion, the best actor currently in the film industry since his debut in Godfather II. Proved to me he can do it all after his hilarious performance in "Meet the Parents."
latinasexy 08/28/2003
He's the man!
freme62 08/21/2003
Greatest actor there ever was!
astroboy 08/21/2003
De Niro has tried very hard to take on a variety of roles to show his overall talents. He is at his best in the Gangster\Cop role.As he has aged he has taken on more comedic roles.Absolutey histerical in Meet the Parents. Check him out in Mean Streets,Raging Bull,Casino or the Deer Hunter.
mumov3 08/20/2003
Robert DeNiro is my favorite actor of all time. There is no role to challenging for him...he is the master!
justmiopin 08/20/2003
...deserves to be #1!
monairv 08/20/2003
I love Robert DeNiro! He is the greatest actor I've ever seen. He can play the whole range from the funniest comedy to the most intense drama and can really become the character he is playing. He should have won all the academy awards he was nominated for.
winnipeg15 08/19/2003
