Katie's not only gorgeous but is growing by leaps and bounds as an actor. She's always described as the wholesome girl next door, even though she plays just the opposite in her movies. The conflicting signals of her cherubic face, mature intellect, and sexually-charged characters create a perpetual tension that draws men to her like bugs to a zapper.

For looks she is a 5. No question. She isn't the most beautiful actress in the world, but in the top 10 imao. For acting skills, I fear Katie needs to look for work better suited to her. Her looks can only go so far, and I am not convinced.

The goody-two-shoes element of her persona always seems to creep into her roles. One exception would be in "The Gift". Maybe a wider variety of roles will help develop a better range. As for her looks, I've never thought she was pretty. She has a weird smile.

Katie Holmes is the next hope for Hollywood among young actresses. She is a dazzling beautiful brunette, graced with a magnificent form, and is one of the moost exciting young talents to have come up in quite a while(the udder being Sarah Polley). She hasn't appeared in very many good films, but she always manages to outshine them. Her good films include The Gift and Go, and she is about to break out as Hollywood's Next Big lead actress. Hopefully she will manage to select quality films to show off her mooore than ample talents.

So much can be said about Katie Holmes. A great actress she is not, not yet, but within her own generation of actresses she's good enough. Besides pretty face and sexy body, which doesn't really distinguish her from any other girls in Hollywood, she has a mystique and a vulnerability that makes you want the best for her even if you know nothing about her.

I don't think that she's a very good actress....I mean, her facial expressions don't match the tone of her speech. For example, if you've seen "Abandon" or even watched the preview for it, when the detective asks her why she thinks her boyfriend is dead and she says "He disappeared," she's sporting a smirk/quasi-smile on her face. She's talking about her boyfriend disappearing and she has a smirk on her face!!!! There is something wrong with the actor methodology in that scene...

she is beautiful, charming and have proven herself in what i consider to be the ultimate acting test which is a drama series\movie. if only she was in my age...

I have read a few comments that say that Katie is not much of an actor, but you must remember that she is still only a fairly new actor. Sure, she is not much of a character actor (yet) but that will come with time. An actor plays a character the way that they see it, so the character tends to take on much of the actor's own personality. She is well on the way to improving her career by taking on roles you wouldn't expect to see her in. Take "The Gift" for example, she plays a role that seems to degrade her image and is fairly believable (accent and all). You must take in to consideration that we all are used to seing Katie as "Joey Potter" and this tends to close our minds to the fact that she is an actor, not the character. If any of her supposed "Joey character" shines through, remember that this is KATIE shining through (just as ANY actor would shine through their character). I think that Katie herself would be very much like her "Joey" character, that is why she was cast in that role after all. She seems reserved, but very articulate. She could accomplish ANYTHING she puts her mind to, and given time, could become one of the best actors of her generation.

One of the worst actors in the world! Sure, most people probably think she's good looking and think that adds to her acting and her roles, but her role playing of characters are exactly the same. Even in "Go", "Disturbing Behaviour" she's trying to play a weird, different character to her "Dawson's Creek-Joey" but her character of Joey always shines through. She cannot portray any other character successfully without resorting to Joey Potter coming through. Very bad characterisation and ability to take on different roles. Also, to add to the replies written. Everyone is praising her for her beauty. That doesn't make you a good actor necessarily.

For her acting, I give her 2 stars. Plus 1 bonus star for being so HOT! Her acting is not the worst, but the thing is that every role she plays she acts exactly the same, with that "little Dawson's Creek girl" personality which totally conflicts the whole purpose of acting and having different roles. Someone mentioned "she picks roles that mantain an honarable self-image..." Uh, maybe this person hasn't watched some of her movies, where she is barely naked on steaming sex scenes. C'mon, she is only 22. Hey, but who am I to complain about that?!?!?! Keep those scenes coming!!!

What the hell is she doing in Hair dye commercials? Thats such a big step down from "Dawson's Creek". But she's pretty good, she graduated the same acting school as me, but I don't think it was in Boston. She's not bad!

I just LOVE katie holmes she is an awsome actress I have seen and love all the movies she's been in. I also watch Dawsons creek every time its on. I just cant get enough of her, she seems so cool.

Katie Holmes is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen! I have seen all of her films and a year of Dawsons Creek. She has a lot of potential to be one of the great actresses, not just a star. Some say she will be nude in "Abandoned" like she was in "The Gift". If she is, I will still love her. I read where she was three weeks pregnant. I wish her and Chris Klein luck as parents. I don't know how true these rumors are about more nude scenes and being pregnant, but I will be a fan no matter what! I am also looking forward to her new film "The Phone Booth" No rumor of nudity there. I wish she would clear some of this up with a statement or something. I have also heard the Playboy rumor also, yet she has not done a layout for Maxim, Stuff, Gear or FHM yet. Does anyone know about any of this stuff? I did find out she was in Stuff and FHM, but not dressed real skimpy. She is not pregnant. What bothers me are these pornographers that place her face on the bodies of porn stars and say it is her. How is that legal?

I wasn't a Katie Holmes fan before but after seeing her work in Go, Dawson's Creek and SNL, i find her to be such a great actress and beautiful person.

I just want to say she is the best ive ever seen! she sticks with her role the whole way through the movie and dawsons creek. all you people that dont think so can suck an egg. she isnt that skinny so she isnt anorexic! i dont see how you can go about saying that someone is without knowning them. i look up to her. she thought she was never going to make it in this movie world. just as she was about to give up she got her part and was made a star. she came into my life just as i thought that about myself she has made me realize not to give up on my goals and to keep trying cause nothing is imposible. and i think we need more people in this world like her!!!!

I have no idea how Katie Holmes only has three stars. Katie is so beautifully simple that it is amazing. Someone who can do so little to themselves and still look so gorgeous is an absolute gift. She deserves to have five stars not three.
