Great scripts only need mediocre actors to show their worth, and Leon is a classic example of how an actress can be carried by a brilliant movie. Pre-packaged blockbusters like star wars are for making money, and her wooden acting is only exaggereated by the clunky dialogue. Her other movies were not of the same caliber as Leon, and her acting in those was unremarkable. It's good that she wants to have a University degree, but we are rating her acting here, and it is not as if she has the talent to truly move an audience. Which is why I give her two stars.

While Ms Portman is undeniably pretty, that is not the reason that I admire her. It is refreshing to see a young actress who is more concerned with education than acting, and who won't pose naked in degrading pictures, which is accepted as the norm. She is an excellent actress, and outshone by miles her co-star Hayden Christensen in episode 2. While I am a fan of all her films, my favourite must be Leon, it was exceptional.Good luck to her.

I'm glad to see a young actress realising that being an actress does not make her different from everyone else. It's good to see her so down-to-earth, as well as being pretty and talented.

She has to be one of my personal favorites. I like her work and she is a very pretty girl. However, she is not overrated I feel becuase she isn't plastered all over the TV screens or magazines, like someone such as Britney. I'm not saying that's bad but I just dont see how she is overrated....but thats just one person's opinion.

I think she's a very pretty, talented little actress. The first film I saw her in was 'Leon' and her performance was fantastic. She played the part of Mathilda who loses her family and wants to take revenge for the murder of her little brother. She worked very well with the older characters and built up a really good rapport with Jean Reno who plays Leon. She was also very impressive in Heat with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. I thought she did really well with the Star Wars film as well, really looking forward to 'Attack of the Clones', its supposed to be miles better than the first.

The only movies shes gonna do between now and 2005 is the 2 Star Wars Sequels because she's studying psychology at Harvard and plans to make that her career, how rare is that in Hollywood? It sucks that the media is so in love with such an untalented overrated bitch like Gwyneth Paltrow they overlook Natalie.

i think she is very beautiful and exudes a demeanor of natural sophistication and class, which i admit is refreshing to see coming from hollywood these days. but when i try to critique her acting, i think about how i've never been particularly moved by her performances or felt any sentimental attachment to any of her characters. in fact every time i watch her i realize i'm just itchin for more depth or excitement or humor or something i can't quite put my finger on.

Natalie Portman is a pretty actress but it would be silly to say that she is the best talent ever or the best actress currently in Hollywood. She is a good actress (when she is actually trying to be) but I see that she is highly overrated by quite a few people. She is not Audrey Hepburn either. Since i'm the same age as Natalie, I can look back on her earlier films and remember that her characters always intrigued me. However, I never realized that she ws the same girl until Episode 1.I later discovered that I liked her as an Actress and model because of the way she plays her roles. She always seems to be a girl that needs someone to help her, but no one ever does, so she ends up helping herself.This causes me to think "Man, I really wish I could be there for her". I think all of her movies install this same feeling, and that's why I think she tantalizes so many men. Her pictures even give me this feeling, and if that's not being a good actress, I don't know what is. My only quarrel with her is that I wrote her a fan letter and never got a reply back. She probably gets a thousand letters a day anyway and it's pretty selfish of me to dock her for that. So I'm not going to.

very hot and no complaints about her acting

The first time I, or probably, anyone noticed Natalie Portman was in "The Professional". She played the role with woman-like strength and 'little girl lost' vunerability. She was entrancing as Mathilda. Seeing her recently in "Where The Heart Is", it struck me how beautiful and talented this girl really is. She carries herself with all the poise and grace of a young Audrey Hepburn. I hope we see sooo much more of her!

I really enjoyed Natalie's talent on the screen. Her last couple movies might have been chick flicks, but she still manages to capture the right audience. I feel bad now since she may not be an actress forever, but we all have to follow our dreams. She has given me inspiration to follow my goals. There aren't that many women out there like her which is a shame. Society would be a lot better off with women like her. I hope she graduates from university successfully, and lives a normal, happy life.

In my opinion Natalie Portman is the greatest actress that ever was. She started acting at a young age and still is the best. I am not afrade to say I love her. After all that I've seen her do I can say she is and always will be great. Every movie I saw her in was one of the best I have seen.

I laughed, bubbled like champagne with EVERYONE SAYS I LOVE YOU. A sci-fi fan, I thouroughly enjoyed MARS ATTACKS! -I cannot say I enjoyed ANYWHERE BUT HERE or WHERE THE HEART IS much. I don't enjoy soap-opera dramas which I think these two latter films were. I will always remember Natalie Portman as Mathilda. I remember one time I was poking around on the web and I found a site called something like "the countdown till Natalie Portman is legal!" This guy had a webpage and all it was was a birthdate and a clock counting backwards down to the second when she would turn eighteen... and thus be thrust deep into the unknown realm of womanhood. That was kinda sick and if I were Natalie and I saw that I would be creeped out in a big way. It's like there are throngs of men grunting wildly outside her house pawing at the gate, groping wildly for a way in! Reaching, longing, lusting uncontrollably for a chance to plunge in through the darkness and uncover the real Natalie. Well in any case it was kinda creepy... that guy must've been wacked,.. and no it wasn't me.
