Susan Sarandon has been a favorite of mine for years. I admire her for standing up for what she believes in.More of our citizens should do the same. Most cannot see that the religious right is leading us toward a totalitarian state. They want to deny the basic rights our soldiers have fought and died for.

Haven't seen all of her movies by any means, but her characters in "Thelma and Louise" and "Bull Durham" were great! She has tremendous ability as an actress which is, unless I'm mistaken, what we're rating?

Traitor and mediocre actress.

LONG LIVE THIS COUNTRY, OUR VALUES AND WHAT OUR FOREFATHERS DIED FOR. NOT EVEN A BILLION OSAMA BIN LADENS AND BILL O'RIELLYS CAN TAKE THAT FROM US. HISTORY WILL REMEBER HER AS A HERO.
cary18 04/25/2003
I wish she's take her bug eyed self and leave the country!!!
Solenoid DH 04/25/2003
Susan Sarandon has every right to express her opinions. And those who disagree with her have just as much right to express their outrage. (she made some terrible statements that offended me long before this war started) There's no sense in telling her to leave the country. However....people like Alec Baldwin who PROMISED they would leave if Bush won, should at least keep their word.
beerbeast 04/25/2003
USA love it or LEAVE it! I was glad that they cancelled her appearance for Bull Durham, why give this traitor more publicity? Go to France where somebody might care what you say!
twinmom101 04/25/2003
For all the enlightened people who can't stand Ms Sarandon exercising her right to free speech- leave my country and go find a dictatorship. There is no free speech there, morons.

You ass. Take you and your sniveling, p****whipped lacky "companion" Tim Robbins and go jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. How dare you even live in this great nation. You are a disgrace to humanity, and to America. Go away and never come back...no one wants you.
alicat777 04/23/2003
Susan Sarandon is a phenomenally talented actress and I've respected and enjoyed her work for years. I don't care what her political views are (in fact, I don't care what any of her views are); she absolutely has the same first amendment right to free speech that all Americans enjoy. She has the right to speak and I have the right to ignore her. What I find both amusing and irritating is that she and Tim Robbins seem to think that they speak for people other than themselves - no one speaks for me except me! I need no assistance with that, thank you very much. Will I continue to enjoy her work? I don't know. Both she and Tim Robbins have really pissed me off with their rather personal attacks on the President. I don't love him, either, but I respect him because for at least another year (barring unforeseen circumstances) he's the guy sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. I think he's owed that - I respected Bill Clinton right up until the day Bush took over. It took tremendous effort, but I did it. But don't take my word for anything; don't take Susan's or Tim's and especially not Michael Moore's - he's not a well man at all. Watch the news, read the papers, listen to people with whom you agree and then to people with whom you disagree - educate yourself on the issues and the players and form your own opinions. There are alot of places on this planet where people are not free to do that - to have that right and not exercise it is a damn shame and an insult to everyone who's fought and died to give that right to you and then those who've done the same to protect that right. One last thing - my favorite definition of patriotism is loving your country despite its government. It's true; you can look it up ...
marconej 04/23/2003
Blame America first. I consider her an evil person.
directd 04/19/2003
Its truly unbelivable to see so many mindless "patriots" slamming a suberb actress for simply stating her beliefs. For expressing herself and exercising her free speech. I thought thats what America was all about. I truly am ashamed for any foreigners who may be reading these so called "patriots" getting ready for their witch-hunt for someone who simply states what they believe in. As for people that say, "just stick to acting"... LOOK: if you had PASSION about politics and had the chance to communicate to millions of people...wouldn't YOU do it? Of course you would! You would be a FOOL not to! So lets stop being hypocrites, pretend we're still leaving in a free country, and respect the rights of all people to state when they believe, EVEN actors! (gasp) By the by, has anyone read Patriot Acts I and II? Or are we still too busy checking out which neighbor has the biggest flag on their house, car, lawn, shirt, etc. (Because as we all know, whoever has the biggest flag is the most patriotic) Its too bad some Americans are more passionate in demonizing someone for expressing themselves than for defending our quickly eroding freedoms. I sometimes think that those two towers were not the only thing that went down on 9 11 as we have deceitful politicians using a horrible day as an excuse to take away our rights and increase their wealth and power.
angelika 04/18/2003
When is she leaving again? She should find a warm welcome in France.
cliffordray 04/18/2003
How can I continue to enjoy the work of someone that is using my money to perpetuate their political opinions? I refuse to add to her coffers anymore because of this and besides, I can no longer appreciate her acting as it is so maddening just to be reminded of what she does with the money we have given her for her acting abilities.
mikenyc 04/17/2003
She has no concept of reality - living in her silver spoon fantasy world. She is a professional protester. She is a pathetic excuse for a human being.....Disgusting, delusional, nasty, whining - I wish this ugly woman would go away
moonsvision 04/14/2003
Can't get it through her little head that we don't need to hear her opinions every time she opens her mouth. Takes every event and turns it into a protest march. Enough Susan. Try just being human for a change and let people enjoy public functions without fear of your mouth.
southernpatrio t 04/12/2003
Her statements on anti-war after our fighting men and women are in a foreign contry is deplorable! I will not support her movies any longer. As a person, I have lowered my opinion of her to a pile of dog crap!!!!
jms5 04/12/2003
Too bad i can't leave her a worse rating. Bon Voyage, Susan! Enjoy France. Oh, by the way, you're comment about electing a president who's killed more people before he got to The White House is untrue. Washington was in something called The Revolutionary War. You know in America. How about U.S. Grant in The Civil War? or Andrew Jackson? Teddy Roosevelt? Please learn to read and then buy a history book before you make such ridiculous comments. Also, how come i don't remember you criticizing Clinton for sending troops to Kosovo? Yet, you criticize Pres. Bush. Clinton did such a great job in Mogadishu, too! PS: please stop going to N.Y. Rangers games. That's why they haven't made the playoffs in 6 years! Keep Timmy at home, too.
CraigieSanDieg o 04/04/2003
She is a useless bag of pus-scumbag low-life wench who ought to drag her sorry butt out of our grand country. Lets see how long she really could rough it in a third world country by sending her off to N Korea to hold hands and sing Kum Bay Ya to her fans. She certainly doesn't have a fan base here. Go Away, Go Away, Go Away!!
klytie 04/03/2003
She always looks and acts too bitchy to enjoy, even in RHPS, which is where I 1st saw her. Plus, she should stick to acting and stay away from politics.
B. McCoy 03/29/2003
You are a traitor to your own Country! Maybe you will change now that it is hurting your pocketbook..Was so glad they cancelled your speaking spot at the charity in Florida! Good for the United Way. I did not know that speaking on behalf of a charity cost that charity $20,000.00. I guess that is $20,000.00 you won't be spending on behalf of Iraq. Shame! Shame! Shame!
CastleBee 03/25/2003
One of the most talented actresses of her age group or any other. I agree - she looks really great for her 50+ years. You just knew she was bursting to say way more than she did at the Oscars - yet she had the guts and the class to play it low key on this occasion. She must realize like others apparently do not that, in order to be truly effective in life, you need to pick your battles as well as your battle grounds. Michael Moore might want to jot that down.
SarahJ 03/25/2003
Great actress, and still looks beautiful for her age. Plus who wouldn't want to date Tim Robbins.
rbartlett 03/24/2003
I think she is way too outspoken about topics that she is not educated in. I think she sponsors many good causes (i.e. donate a phone, UNICEF) but for her to spout her liberal crap every time a camera is turned on her is way over the edge. She has a high school education and works and lives in fantasy land. What the hell does she know about world affairs? She seems to be forgetting that men much like George W. Bush are the ones who died so she can shroud her liberal crap in freedom of speech. If she is truly proud to be an American, quit overextending her rights. Hers end where mine begin and I am terribly offeneded by her stand against this country. If it is so terrible here, please let me extend an invitation for this communist wench to leave. Maybe move to Iraq?
rightwingbosto n 03/11/2003
Too bad she didn't put the money she blew on that comercial towards something useful, like a contract on Saddam's head. Someone volunteer her and her tree hugging husband to be a human shield.
niehausapprais er 03/08/2003
I didn't like her before menopause. Now she's a treacherous, socialist enemy of freedom AND old and dry. Die, career.
Redoedo 03/06/2003
Susan Sarandon is an exceptionally good actress. She seems to have some range, as she went from playing in the "woman power" film "Thelma and Louise", to the compelling thriller "The Client", and most recently, "Where the Heart Is" and "Stepmom". "Stepmom" is probably my favorite of her films. I am a Democrat, but I do not necessarily agree with some of her views, but I respect her exercising her right to free speech, and the many charity organizations in which she is afiliated with.

Susan needs to pack up along with o' Barbra Streisand and leave the country. I'm sure they will make the perfect couple.

How the hell did her rating get so high. She is a traitor to our country, therefor would never spend another dime on her movies.

I'm disgusted to see Susan Sarandon TWENTY-SEVENTH on this list? reese Witherspoon higher then Susan? hahahaha. Reese may be cute and able to carry a movie, but Susan Sarandon is an ICON! She's brilliant, talented, and so down to earth. Her activism slowly and surely makes the world a better place. Not to mention, she's still as beautiful as she was in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
TimBSDCA 10/11/2002
I am so tired of this political windbag.
Kung-Fu Fighter 10/09/2002
I just saw Susan's new movie, "The Banger Sisters" a couple of days ago, and it was great! I have loved Susan in all of her movies...what a great gal! Way to go Susan, keep it up!
Keltic 01/06/2002
Never saw anything she ever did and don't want to. Easy for the Hollywood type to be politically correct about all the issues that don't affect them personally. They live on Park Avenue when in NY, and in the secluded Hollywood Hills when in CA. Why don't they make up their minds - either act, or be a politician, but not both.
brandi wisner 10/26/2001
Susan Sarandon is another great actress i liked her in "Stepmom"

Thelma and Louise and Step Mom were wonderful. I didn't the movie, Witches of Eastwick, but she did well in it.
swordo3174 06/15/2001
she mixes her "political views" with her acting abilties, don't need her telling me what she thinks is best for the rest of us!
wastle 05/05/2001
Probably the most talented actress of our times. Her work with Louis Malle is a very important contribution to the art of cinema. Very couragous of her to speak her mind in a society that can't stand looking at the dark side of the world we live in.This will maybe destroy her professionally at some point, but the fact that she knows and still keeps on with her good work inside and outside the cinema industry, makes her really special.
callmetootie 04/08/2001
She was so good in Rocky Horror Picture Show, that it basically covers her whole entire career. Yes, she was in some other good films, but in her role as Janet, I mean she was one sexy woman back then, and she lit up the screen so well.
chrannapple 04/07/2001
A very talented actress yes but not one of the all time greats. All time greats need to show excellence in a range of acting types (for example, comedy as well as drama) and I don't think she's done that yet. As for her leftist politics, she's welcome to have them and promote them, but there is often something disturbing about how many leftists don't really want true freedom for all, just for freedom in ways they define it. There was an article recently where Ms. Sarandon spoke of wishing that there would be a "compulsory" system where young people would spend two weeks in a different culture as a way to experience the world. Maybe a good idea, but why not let it be a choice for people rather than compulsory? I thought forcing people to do things that were supposedly "good for them" was only a fascist way of doing things. Who would of thought that a so-called good hearted liberal leftist would be guilty of the same transgression?

I have always been a huge Susan Sarandon fan and have followed her career over the years. She is an extraordinary actress and is bold in her choice of characters she portrays in movies. I realized she was vocal politically, however I placed little emphasis on her political views......until recently. My partner and I have dedicated over a decade of our lives to public service. We have worked long hours and have worked holidays for many years, we have served others for little pay and little thanks, we have even risked our lives in this capacity. We are police officers. I recently learned of Susan Sarandon's support of the convicted murderer, Mumia Abu-Jamal. He was convicted of brutally killing Daniel Faulkner (a Philadelphia Police Officer) in 1981. Ms. Sarandon actively speaks on this murderer's behalf and submits herself to his cause. Officer Faulkner committed his life to protect and serve others and he was struck down in the prime of his life while defending goodness and justice. Would Ms. Sarandon be interested in discussing her actions with the family members of Officer Daniel Faulkner? Perhaps she would like to discuss her views with me? I have had loved ones victimized while their perpetrators are defended endlessly. I have been exposed to molested children, raped women, battered women, persons who fall victim to violent crime and hate crime, and even persons who lose their lives at the hand of another. I do not have the luxury of experiencing life through a filter. I don't have someone telling me "how it might have happened" or "how I might feel." I am not an actor. I KNOW how it happened and how it felt, because I experienced it first hand. I feel assured that Ms. Sarandon has little empathy for my situation, or police officers in general, or for the family of the fallen Officer Daniel Faulkner. If she did......she would speak on behalf of the murdered man and his family....and not on behalf of the man who killed and lived to have celebrities defend his name in the press. What an embarassing era we live in; when people can violate other's rights and be vindicated.
Jana Burge 02/20/2001
Shame on you, Susan. Read number 3. At the recent National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) conference, the delegation in attendance voted unanimously to begin a boycott of persons, products and companies associated with the supporting of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal. In case you don't know, he was convicted in the 1981 killing of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner under overwhelming evidence. The act was an especially brutal and sadistic murder that still haunts the family, friends and coworkers of Officer Faulkner. (The New York Shields presented Officer Faulkner's family with a Medal of Valor at their 1999 Police Memorial Breakfast). Convict Abu-Jamal has written a book, "Live from Death Row," and attempted to place himself in a celebrity status as a result of his criminal behavior. Others have supported his pathetic attempt to gain stardom and freedom, all the while spitting in the face of Officer Faulkner, his family and every single law enforcement officer in the United States. The F. O. P. has announced the formal boycotting of the following: 1. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Products (donators to a defense fund for the killer). 2. Actor Paul Newman, and his products (an outspoken supporter of the killer). 3. Actress Susan Sarandon (supporter of this convicted killer). 4. Filmmakers Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and John Landis (supporters of the killer). 5. Writers Norman Mailer and Joyce Carol Oates (supporters of the killer). 6. Super-model Naomi Campbell (supporter of the killer). 7. Musicians: Sting, David Byrne and Michael Stipe of REM, (supporters of the killer). 8. The Backstreet Boys who are performing "free" benefit concerts for the killer's defense fund. One of their "benefit concerts" scheduled for Baltimore,MD had to be canceled when Baltimore police officers refused to work the overtime shifts for security at the concert. As you may not know, a tape recorded statement made by this heinous convicted killer, was played at the graduation commencement ceremony of EVERGREEN STATE COLLEGE IN WASHINGTON STATE in June 1999. This resulted in over 800 graduates walking out and another two dozen turning their backs during the killer's three minute diatribe of hate. The F.O.P.'s position is getting widespread coverage in the media, as well it should. The members of the New York Shields stand with our fellow brothers across this country in strongly supporting this boycott and honoring the memory of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. We urge you to participate in this boycott and request that you pass this e-mail on to your coworkers, partners, family and friends. We must stand together against this brutal murderer. Please do your part and pass this important message along to your friends. Call your local grocer and tell them about Ben & Jerry's support of a cop killer.
