SO excellent in Elizabeth! She has a face that isn't classic beauty, she has a better one, one that you look at and look at and wonder about, you know she is pretty, but it is a different type of beautiful. Great in all of her movies.

A great actress of her time. Though she is not quite as well known in the US as she is in the UK, Australia, etc, she certainly deserves a place.

I just love her Galadriel! And a very talented actress!

Pretty, good as an elf

I don't think I have ever seen Cate Blanchett perform a role, that was not completely believable. She's been in several questionable films (Bandits, The Gift), but her presence was the saving grace. She's a true chamelion on screen, with excellent poise and charisma. She chooses unique roles, which showcase her range ensure that she's never typecase. Standout Performances for me were: Elizabeth, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Oscar and Lucinda and her brief appearance in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (she played Galadriel brilliantly, really bringing the etherial beauty of the character to light. Pure magic to watch!)

She's brilliant! One of my favorite actresses, she has a classic beauty, and a veratile ability when it comes to performance.
MrvlX danna 02/07/2003
The best actress since meryl streep,(probly better!)And she is beautiful too ! There is no one better ,I'd rate higher if I could ! End of disscution !!!
ridermage 01/22/2003
She was absolutely superb in "Elizabeth", but her recent performances have been not quite as good. Still, she is one of the better actresses of her generation.
nicolekidmanru les 01/14/2003
pretty- kinda weird though!
lily6601 01/02/2003
Her best performance is in Oscar and Lucinda-a great movie! I also saw her onstage in Plenty, she was quite good in that as well.
marlowe1939 11/24/2002
THE BEST. Male or female, no actor working today has the versatility of Cate Blanchett. In this day whaen so many stars make do on playing themselves, Blanchett is a true actor. There is nothing or noone she cannot play. I would pay to watch her read the phone book.
MooCowMoo 11/18/2002
My current Snugglebunny Queen (displacing Gillian Anderson after 10 years). Cate is an awesome talent, who just happens to be drop-dead beautiful. She will win an Oscar at some point, just you see. Elegant, charming, and beautiful, Cate has it all! :=8D
ellebee 09/27/2002
terrific actress, great style -- the best-dressed woman in movies!
Legolas 09/26/2002
Galadriel, my love, the sun is shamed by your beauty and talent.
KevanSF 06/26/2002
She was awesome in "Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Bandits". If you're a fan of hers, definitely see these two.
Enya 06/02/2002
Cate Blanchett is the most talented actress in Hollywood. She brought life to Elizabeth. After watching that movie, I became more interested in European history. I also enjoyed Bandits, Man who cried, and Pushing Tin. It is a shame that Cate would not get the credit that she deserve.
sportychick 05/03/2002
I think that Cate is a great actress. I love all her movies. I think she is a very inspiring actress. Whoever thinks that she is a bad actress has the wrong oppion and should get their oppion strait.
Roswellfan 03/18/2002
The Oscar judges are like Marie-Reine Le Gougne(a corrupt figure skating judge who voted for Russians instead of the Canadians). Like Figure skating judges, they choose the winners before seeing the performance. They put popularity first instead of talent. It is a shame because Cate put a lot of effort in Elizabeth. She deserved an award. Maybe next time.

Cate Blanchett is such a great actress! She becomes the character in all of her films. She also has that strange, yet beautiful look. I can hardly wait for her upcoming WWII movie, "Charlotte Gray"
ThatGirl1269 01/12/2002
She's lovely, she's talented and she's AUSTRALIAN not British - why can't you people who rate here AT LEAST do the courtesy of getting someone's nationality correct. It might not matter to you Americans that believe the USA is the centre of the world (sorry, the universe), but it sure as hell pisses the REST of us off!!!!
NoTaFaN 12/18/2001
ahhh! i simply love her. she is my favourite actor of all time (well, i like kate hepburn too, but blanchett is my contemporary fav). first of all, she's gorgeous...and second, she's tremendously talented. i don't think anyone could've protrayed one of history's most important figures (queen elizabeth) more dramatically or poignantly than the fab cate blanchett. the brits certainly knew wut they were doing when they gave their academy award to her instead of the over-dramatic miss paltrow.
leyla11 11/08/2001
When I saw "Oscar and Lucinda" a few years ago, I immediately asked myself: "Who's this lovely girl?". She's a great actress.
bootyliciousgw ennie 09/14/2001
I think Gwyneth Paltrow robbed Cate of an Oscar in 99, but eventually I think Cate will get her Oscar...her time will come soon enough, I mean shes a way better actress than Gwyneth Paltrow could dream of being.
daphne_y 06/02/2001
I can only agree with you all here!!! Cate really doesn't belong to the usual Hollywood-staff and I hope she'll be able to avoid the typical make-your-money-and-run-szene as long as possible. She's just great!!! And even though I know that a Hollywood nomination is no guarantee for a good movie at all(!) I really felt bad that the Oscar went to Ms Paltrow instead:-( Anyways, we know better, don't we?
bombergirl 05/16/2001
She can be anyone in the screen.. unlike most of the Hollywood stars.
callmetootie 04/09/2001
Cate Blanchett scares me whenever shes on the big screen, because she has really devilish looking eyes. Her characters are extremly strange, and her scripts are usually cut paper thin, and shes usually dropped from the whole storyline once you get into the movie. I guess the director couldn't stand the pain of watching her act.
jarvisull 03/10/2001
Cate Blanchett is an amazing actress. I would pay to see any movie she does. She's possibly the only actress I can say that about. I don't even feel a need to name specific movies to recomend of hers. Every one of her movies is worth checking out. But Elizabeth and Oscar and Lucinda are without a doubt her best.
ElviraHancock 02/08/2001
Blanchett's performance in "Elizabeth" was truly incredible. Her somewhat melodramatic turn in "Ripley" may have been simply due to trying to do to much with a role which was an insufficient vehicle for showing off her vast talent (so brilliantly displayed in "Oscar and Lucinda"). However, is it not an actors' duty to play a role as part of a whole and not as if for a showreel? Theatre-wise, in the London season of 'Plenty', Blanchett was good but not awe inspiring.
MrBaseballGuy 01/29/2001
Mediocre. Needs to pound a few cheeseburgers. Pushing Tin was horrible. Mr. Ripley was barely watchable, and I watch almost anything.
NoBananas 01/28/2001
Terrific actress! All those Brits do theater work, which always makes them so much better than our mediocre American ones. She has such an impressive range!
poison5689 01/06/2001
One of the only girls who can be mysterious and beautiful at the same time. What a lovely person. Ha, mcke3634om, lets see how you judge this one!!
Johnny Roulette 01/02/2001
The fact that Paltrow won the Oscar over Cate Blanchett's portrayal of Elizabeth is all the reason one could ask for not to pay any attention to the fraudulous awards. I mean, hell, Milli Vanilli won some Grammy's, ha ha. The people can clearly see where the talent is(usually). Blanchett is where she belongs on this list and Paltrow is almost as far down as she belongs here.
007girl 12/19/2000
She is truly a "starlet". She pulls ranks with all Hollywood superstars. She is a classic in her own time. She emits such glamour, poise, and class. Her sense of style is almost unmatched. Her performance in Elizabeth has been unmatched since in Hollywood. I feel she was robbed of her award, it was much more deserved by her than Ms. Paltrow.
AMShook20 11/22/2000
i personally think she is wonderful and i just bet that i am not the only person who thinks that. she is beautiful and not anyone can pull of an accent!!! you go girl, but whens the next movie???
rafefan 10/19/2000
She is a phenominal actress in every sense. Her versatility alone is reason to love her! The difference between the title character in "Elizabeth" and Connie in "Pushing Tin" is astonishing! And yet she did both to perfection! She took an incidental character like Merideth Logue in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and turned her into a complete character that people could care about. But aside from her acting, she has also (through interviews, etc) proven herself to be really intelligent and down to earth! I adore her and her work!
jesu7466om 07/24/2000
Cate is a very interesting actress. Her films "Elizabeth" and "The Talented Mr. Repley" have shown that she would become a real good actress to be seen. It doesn´t matter if the Academy doesn´t recognize her poweful talent. After awarding actress with lacking of talent (Helen Hunt, Paltrow, Bassinger, Tomi...), what else can be said? What a shame!
Wiggum 01/08/2000
I think anyone who sees Cate Blanchett in "Elizabeth," "Pushing Tin," and "The Talented Mr. Ripley" will be firmly convinced that she is one of the best and most versatile actresses around. She is impressive and believable in each of those three movies, and her three characters couldn't be more different.
john430et 12/17/1999
A tremendous actress, incredibly versatile. Nothing against Paltrow, but Cate was robbed of her Oscar for sure.
danc2947om 12/15/1999
A very talented actress. I love all her movies, especially "Elizabeth." I'm really disappointed that she didn't won the Best Actress nomination. Just rent the movie, and see what a great actress she is. Gosh, she should have won it!!
