I remember when I put my hair in a side ponytail and thought he was such a STUD on 21 Jumpstreet and Nightmare on Elm Street (haha, streets).  He's come a long way, but I hated the Pirates sequels.

Amazing Actor. The roles he plays, absolutely noone else could play them. Yeah he's a lil offbeat but that's what makes him so appealing. Either love him or hate him. He hasn't conformed.......Johnny Depp is Johnny Depp. One of a kind!

Very good actor. There are better, but he also seems to have a great personality to go along with his abilities. I don't put much stake in awards but it would be nice to see him win one at some point. Someone teenage girls can and do love that can actually act and isn't just a face.

He might be "one bubble off level" as a carpenter might say but he is on his way up. He plays a lot of off-beat roles.

I used to like Johnny Depp, but he seems to be going down hill and fast. To be honest, thinking back to his part in the first Nightmare on Elm Street, it was totally enjoyable watching him getting offed by Freddy Kruger. Now that was gruesome fun. Too bad he didn't die like that in the last Pirate movie....

The more I hear him, and about him, the more I like him. I always thought he was just the cutest little thing. He's so down to earth and humble about all of his success. It is nice to see someone who's head did not get blown up. His ability to morphed into what ever roll he plays. His way of being so versitile in anything he chooses to do is wonderful. I see him as just a very good human being. The way he talks about his wife and child is so heartwarming and makes him even more appealing.

Johnny Depp is way awsome! I have seen a couple of his films and from what I saw he fits whatever his character is doing. He is soo awsome its hard to belive. Those of you who say differently are weird. He does play some weird/scary roles but he plays lke he's soppesed to.All in all a great no wait awsome actor.

Pirates of the Caribbean is the best!

I have adored Johnny Depp since the mid 80's when 21 Jump Street first aired. The fact that he usually chooses the offbeat characters and movies makes me appreciate his acting even more. He is one of the few actors that can be as believable in "Benny and Joon" as he was in the "libertine". BTW i can hardly wait for "pirates 3" next summer.

He definitely has a knack for the off-the-wall characters, but that makes him such an amazing actor, because most can't pull off the quirky ones.

Yup, he's weird. The characters he plays are, at least. But that's not a bad thing. Different is usually good. In my opinion, his best roles were in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" (although the movie itself isn't exactly my favorite) and "Pirates..." He was also pretty good in "Blow". There's too many to list. And don't forget: he was in "A Nightmare on Elm Street", which is very cool.

Just like Tom Hanks, he doesn't always play in the best movies, but he has done really good recently with Pirates and the Chocolate Factory. What I love about him is that he really tries to create unique characters and does a pretty good job of it too.

I adore his personality. He isn't taken with himself at all. I can't wait until he FINALLY wins an Academy Award. He probably doesn't even care, but his fans do.

A method-type of actor in the mold of Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino, Depp can literally morph into ANY character- regardless of its acting complexity (which illustrates both his great versatility and range). And it doesn't hurt that he is friendly and outgoing to his many fans and admirers. Depp is becoming an icon in his own right.

All his contempories, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise etc can't hold a candle to Johnny in the acting or looks department, he doesn't just play a part, he becomes the character. A lot has been said about the X factor these days, that elusive quality that makes some people just stand out from everyone else, Johnny has this by the bucketload. Give this guy an Oscar, he has more than earned it!!!!

Johnny Depp is a swell fella and even better actor, his character in Charlie and the chocolate factory was kinda strange. Was nothing like the original Wonka, but 5 stars for Depp.

Since he's played a pirate, a Wonka, and a writer (Secret Window, which I didn't understand the ending), I don't know exactly what he looks like in real life. He's a pretty good actor. His role as Wonka wasn't very impressive.

He is absolulty goreous, takes controvestal roles and demoninates it, and best of all has an opinion. Unlike most of hollywood actors, he has spoken out against things he does not argee with. During his interviews, Depp seems genuinly talking to the interviewer. Not systematically answering their questions with the standard "nice" response. I like that he lives outside of the US, so many celebrities complain about privacy issues yet does nothing. He took action and still is very successful in the US.

Overrated but did do a nice job in Pirates, but that is about it.

Johnny Depp has classic Victorian good looks. He's brooding and sensual with those dark eyes, curling thick hair and chiseled cheekbones. His range has broadened since Edward Scissorhands and he seems to have the ability to play lighter roles like "Pirates" as well as the more serious. He is simply gorgeous to women, but listening to his interviews one sees readily that he doesn't take his looks seriously. He probably even gets along well with men and there is nothing pretentious or feminine about him. He isn't embarrassed to slap on his spectacles in public. Beyond that he's a down-to-earth "normal" Mid-westerner, lives quietly in the south of France with his family in an effort to escape the phoniness of Tinsel Town. He'll be around for a long time and will look just a good when he's a lot older. He probably wouldn't give a darn about these ratings one way or the other. He's a man who dances to his own private rhythm. He does not crave publicity. I find him unique in an industry where other actors will do anything to be noticed.

Ok actor, but his off-camera schtick turns me off. He is another weirdo, anti-American idiot that probably has no good reason for his beliefs. He strikes me as the weird, gothy type of kid that tried to make people hate him in high school. He is kind of arrogant in a way, and he conveys this in his movies. He takes roles to stroke his massive ego, not to act. I'm not a big fan, watch for this guy to evaporate pretty soon in Hollywood, I doubt his act will last for long.
