I find his accent annoying, he acts the same in every role he plays.
bimdan 11/25/2005
One of the greatest actors.
mad_mikey 11/12/2005
This man is a true genius up there with the likes of Brando and deniro...i only wish he'd do another ganster esq film with bobby deniro.
FranksWildYear s 11/07/2005
He is great and plays such over the top characters, but sometimes I can't help but feel I'm just watching Al Pacino, as opposed to the character that was written into the script. Maybe thatt's the price of fame and a little typecasting. But he's given some terrific committed performances, like the Devil's Advocate, Scent of a Woman, Dog Day Afternoon.
SamTheMan 11/07/2005
I'm impressed that everyone around here gave him the top spot. For some reason I thought I might be out of the mainstream on this one. As far as I'm concerned he didn't have to make anything past Dog Day Afternoon to received top billing.
oscargamblesfr o 11/04/2005
One of the greatest living American actors. Excellent performances in The Godfather 1 and 2, and did his best in the seriously flawed third film. Also great in Dog Day Afternoon, and several others. Has made his share of bad films, especially recently, but what actor hasn't made his share of duds? The only thing that bothers me about him is that the older he gets the more he relies on shouting instead of speaking. It gets tedious after a while, but that's just a minor complaint.
INOitALL 10/29/2005
He is a good actor but can be very annoying at times.
bhage2003 09/19/2005
Wow Al PAcino is not only one of the greatest actors ever, he is THE COOLEST! People complain because they say all he does is yell and play agressive charatcers, but if you watch a good majority of his movies, people would realize how diversified of an actor he is. Just fabulous. I wish I could meet you in person Mr. Pacino. HOOHAH!
kashmir69 09/12/2005
godfather and scareface are the only movies i liked him in. he seems overrated.
edt4 09/06/2005
It took me a long time to recognize this guy's genius. The Godfather is one of my all-time favorite films, but I thought Al tended to play the same type of intense ethnic role over and over again until it got to seem like shtick. In the late 70's, his career seemed to go downhill as he starred in some truly awful movies. But he's redeemed himself since then, even though he's been in more that his fair share of crap and has a tendency to get hammy. But compare his roles in Godfather and Donnie Brasco if you doubt the extent of his versatility and range. In these films, he plays polar opposites in terms of personality and status within the underworld and he excells in both. Truly qualifies as one of America's great actors. If only he could find more films to star in that were worthy of his immense talent.

Al is an excellent actor and has a unique look that makes him stand out in the Hollywood Crowd. He isn't a teen heart throb he has been in the business for a long time. Al in Scarface was a master piece! Let alone, The Godfather 1 and 2 . He was the only good thing in Godfather 3. He was awesome in the Devil's Advocate. . . the list goes on and on!
Kittenstocats 08/25/2005
I think he is great. I wish he would have done more movies. It seems he is lacking parts in the acting business. I loved Scarface and there was one called Sea of Love, both were my fav.
Ria! 05/30/2005
he was great in Scarface
GB4Life 05/20/2005
one good movie, scarface, thats it
doommate 05/17/2005
needs to do different viarity
caligula 04/18/2005
Great in the 70s, hilarious in the 80s (Scarface is the greatest unintended? comedy of all time), OK in the 90s. Bad face lift.
chesterzd 04/13/2005
Created some of the most memorable characters on-screen (Dog Day Afternoon, Scent of a Woman, and of course the Godfather trilogy, not to mention Scarface). And despite his critics, he does have versatility: check out his most recent work, Angels in America.
tomcondelles 04/11/2005
I have been a Pacino fan ever since THE GODFATHER in 1972, loved him in DOG DAY AFTERNOON. Loved seeing him on the recent Oscars.Keep me posted!
kattwoman 04/07/2005
aka michael corleone. aka tony montana. aka serpico etc...he is such a great actor that not just his movies are remembered but the characters he played are remembered as if they were real. nobody could have pulled off those parts the same way. those characters are al pacino .
texasyankee 03/31/2005
He always plays the same type of role and while he does it really well I don't find this guy versatile at all.
Tornado 03/21/2005
One, if not the most versatile actors in history. Nominated for an Oscar numerous times but only won once. Should have won for The Godfather & Dog Day Afternoon. Best films: The Godfather, Heat, Sea of Love, Dog Day Afternoon, Glengarry Glen Ross. Worst films: Cruising, Revolution, ...And Justice For All (embarrassingly miscast in all three). Little known films: Panic in Needle Park (his first film), Scarecrow, Bobby Deerfield, Two Bits (all great movies).
Skizero 03/21/2005
an okay actor, but what has this man done of any artistic merit since 1976? Angels in America was a step in the right direction, but he's a weekend bender away from doing Scent of A Woman 2: Electric Boogaloo.
callitdownthel ine75 03/21/2005
Along with his pals, Robert Deniro and Meryl Streep, Al Pacino is probably the greatest living actor today. To say Pacino is a master thespian doesn't do him justice as his performances can attest. Few can evolve into their characters with such passion and achive such layers of depth as Pacino. And Pacino has had more than his share of memorable roles. From the morose Michael Corleone of 'The Godfather' series to his character portrayals in 'A Scent of a Woman' and 'Heat', Pacino's acting ability is unquestioned. In short, Pacino is an acting legend and Hollywood icon.
afn61140 03/20/2005
A person who can go from Michael Corleone to Roy Cohn doesn't necessarily show range, but he does in both and many others
Rocketqueen 03/12/2005
SCARFACE!!! The greatest charecter of all time!
Maomania 03/01/2005
He is a great actor, that is out of question. I do think though is is a little bit overrated and we haven't seen a lot from him lately.
magneto101 02/25/2005
hey voted best actor of all time at one point this guy made godfather not de niro
dpostoskie 02/04/2005
Scent of a Woman, 10! Heat, (scene with TonLoc) 0!
irishgit 01/21/2005
He may have lost a step or two but he can still put on a memorable performance when he puts his mind to it.
ChrisO1981 01/08/2005
How can Reeves be ahead of Al? Some people are morons
kris020103 01/06/2005
His work is wonderful, can't be compared to many actors who have only been around for 5- 10 years!!!!! One of the truly best actors of all-time!!!!!!!!!!
ERTRE 12/14/2004
One of the greatest!
Aurielle 12/09/2004
Al is simply amazing. He can be funny and lovable or he can be downright tough. Very intense and I think he's cute for an old guy.
Working-Class_Hero 11/27/2004
A man with a vision !
Pamela2004 11/16/2004
He is an amazing actor! He is so believable in every performance he does! He is one of my favorite actors! My favorite movies of his are all three Godfather movies, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface, Sea of Love, Donnie Brasco, Author, Author, And Justice For All, The Devils Advocate, Frankie and Johnny and Scent of a Woman! He deserves several more oscars!
ClassicTVFan47 11/15/2004
Has starred in absoultely nothing that I have enjoyed.
middlefinger 11/14/2004
His role as the devil in The Devil's Advocate scared the hell outta me! Superb. AND...who else could've played MICHAEL CORLEONE?.
jakemr33 11/11/2004
Scarface was Pacino's moment of glory....great actor
Badunsgirl 10/21/2004
This man is SO handsome! great actor too! he was exceptional in The Godfather love ya Al!!
snoggerboy 07/31/2004
Not my cuppa tea,- Intense? yes but not covincing - compared to Anthony Hopkins or RobertDeNiro he is still in preschool. Not a natural.
honey77 07/12/2004
A TRUE LEGEND. The best actor in the world, he is number 1 on MY list.
trevor3 07/06/2004
Great character actor whose like fine wine seems to have improved with age. His performances in the Devil's Advocate and The Insider are testament to this (though Scent of a Woman is still my favourite). If not for the odd dodgy film choice, would be five stars.
wiley1827 06/14/2004
This man in his current phase is simply a feast for listening and watching. Everything he does is magic. His work in Glengarry Glen Ross almost made me kill myself. He is simply perfection and wonderful.
daisy glaze 06/02/2004
I agree that his best years are probably behind him, but even so, that can't cancel out the fact that in his prime, he was simply the best at what he did. Al is the man.
Guava Monkey 04/22/2004
I detest 'Scarface' but that's more down to de Palma. On balance Pacino's made more good than bad films. I rate 'Sea of love' his best rather than the Godfather trilogy.
Ninobene 04/15/2004
Al not being at the top of this list is a travesty.
whizbang3106 02/13/2004
Hey, mane, you taukin to me, well say hello to my little friend!
tvtator 01/03/2004
One of the best actors of all time. From superb films like The Godfather films, The Insider and Scarface to a mediocre film like The Devil's Advocate(he was so cool as the devil) Pacino is the man. He is brilliant, electrifying and holds your attention everytime.
DickWeener 01/02/2004
This guy is a badass. Al Pacino is probably my favorite actor, he is the Man. Al rocked in the Devils Advocate, I cannot think of anyone better to play the role of the devil , brillant.
