Denzel Washington is one of those actors who I liked a lot better before I heard him interviewed. As an actor he's very good, I don't think he deserved the oscar for training day, he's done better, the bone collector was great, much better. In the several interviews I've listened to with him he comes across as arrogant, a real jerk. That's why I don't read People or watch Entertainment Tonight. I'd rather know them as their characters than as themselves if they're going to act like egotistical jerks.

great actor who continues to grow! One of my favorites!!!!

Denzel Washington is an extremely intense and precise actor. He has the unique ablity to completely mezmerise his audience. A well deserved oscar.

incredibly versatile actor. STILL underrated.
shonuffcute 12/15/2004
A simply superb actor! He isn't given enough credit for his acting abilities. Outstanding!
Dev 11/26/2004
Not much range. Has alot of trouble disappearing into a character.
noskcaj 11/24/2004
Great in Training Day. I am sam S@#ks!
ClassicTVFan47 11/15/2004
A great and talented actor, who needs to star in more good films. Remember the Titans was great, and Washington shined in all of his scenes.
Badunsgirl 11/15/2004
Loved him in Remember The Titans.
middlefinger 11/14/2004
He receioved an Oscar for his role in TRAINING DAY. Gosh-golly, what about GLORY? JOHN Q? and MAN ON FIRE?
Djahuti 10/07/2004
Excellent! Destined to go down in history as one of the greatest of his time.Only thing keeping him back at all is his selecting some cheesy scripts-but hey, we all gotta eat!
Sarajh_leigh 09/25/2004
Denzel is one of the greatest actors of our time. His performances are always powerful and dedicated. I would never miss any of his movies they are truly works of art. I respect and admire Denzel for his honesty and integrity, the lengths he obviously goes to, to care for his family - which appears to be a rare value many of the high profile, high risk actors have today. God bless Denzel and his loved ones. With love and blessings!

Denzel is one of my personal favorite actors. His performance in Training Day was awesome. My favorite movie he stars in is Remember the Titans. The guy is an amazing actor.

This Guy is pathetic ! He cant act and he is just so boring
phuggue 06/01/2004
I went to High School with Denzel at Oakland Academy in New Windsor NY during the late 60's. What you see on the screen is pure brilliance, and the nice guy that you see when he is interviewed is exactly how he is in person. He deserves all the success in the world.
Zioness Esq. 05/18/2004
He is a very talented guy. I have to remember he IS ONLY ACTING when he does bad guy roles. He leaves a big footprint there. Glad I am not married to him. He has too much charisma as a bad guy. Makes you have mixed thoughts about being bad along with him HA!
Netplanet 05/12/2004
Always Great
tvtator 05/11/2004
A great actor. Denzel Washington brings character and a sense of strength to a role. He plays the good guy, the one we trust well, but he shines in the role of the villian.
Count Jacula 05/11/2004
Although I love his movies, I actually believe he's a biggot at heart. The statement he made when ACCEPTING his acadamy award was totally innapropriate. Killing two birds with one stone eh. He was referring to Halle Berry also winning for best actress (and her acceptance was genuine). He said it under his breath, but it was a racist remark if I've ever heard one. If you don't want it, don't accept it!!
Mmathers 02/06/2004
!!!!!!!!he is awsome....i love all his roles.keep doing what you are you doing!!!!!!!!
Zoe Blime 02/01/2004
His Oscar win proved that he is a good actor. I haven't seen enough of him to say that he's great but his role in Glory was very good.
CherrySoda99 01/19/2004
He's really good in Remember the Titans. I haven't seen any other of his movies, but he's a talented guy!

Denzel Washington is hands-down one of the best actors of our time, and the fantastic performances just keep on coming. Denzel has such depth and range as an actor, and every role he plays seems to come so naturally. He literally becomes his character. Denzel gave a commendable performance as Trip in Glory. His performance as the cynical African American Civil War soldier was truly a prophecy of greater performances to come. His supporting role in Philadelphia was indeed a memoriable one, and it truly added to the film. He also gave a riveting performance as the troubled, alcoholic Colonel Serling in Courage Under Fire in which he investigates the story of a female pilot killed during the Gulf War. Washington then turned in a brilliant (and moving) performance as Coach Herman Boone in Remember the Titans. Like all of his other roles, this role seemed to come so naturally to him, and he was completely believable. In the crime drima Training Day, Denzel Washington undertook a different type of role than he was used to. For the first time, he played the villian. Washington did a fantastic job playing crooked narcotics officer Alonzo Harris. His performance was filled with intensity, and it was quite refreshing to see him undertake a darker role. Equally riveting was his performance in John Q as a desperate father out to save the life of his sick son. Denzel also turned in acceptable performances in Fallen, The Siege and The Hurricane. In the final analysis, Denzel is one of the best actors of our time, and clearly, the best is yet to come.

A little overrated, but he isn't horrible either. I just don't think he will ever be that great. But you never know.....
chris6848 10/29/2003
I think Denzel is a great actor and i hope he keeps it up.
LadyShark4534 09/28/2003
One of the best actors of all time.

He's good, but overrated.

Denzel is a great actor! I've seen all his movies and he never fails to give top-notch performances.
spygirl 08/07/2003
Superb!
iluvamerica 08/03/2003
I really like his movies, but I don't think that he deserved his Oscar for Training Day. Russell Crowe did an amazing job in A Beautiful Mind. That actually requires acting. Not just dropping F-bombs, and shooting people.
themoviefan 07/05/2003
The Best actor in hollywood today. Why? he's proven he's very dynamic and can take on just about any rol but does not have really any more roles to conquer and challenge and he has his two oscars, from Glory (supporting actor) and Training Day (Best Actor). I would put him ahead of Tom Hanks on whose better. The only type of films he hasn't really broken into is comedy maybe with the exception of Preacher's Wife. He can be bad and tough guy Training Day, He got game, the Hurricane, a hero Glory, Malcom X, Crimson Tide, Courage under Fire, and a lover Devil in a blue dress. He has the rarity like his hero Sidney Poitier to have his works accepted and praised in the mainstream hollywood community and in the black community without having to sell out to one or the other. His characters in films will be remembered whether their the bad guys that society doesn't accept or misconscrew or the ordinary common man everyone loves. He has been able to distinguish himself as his own and break away from the Poitier comparison. Years from no many people no matter who it is looks up and will look up to him for his amazing accompolishments.

I really enjoy his acting.
namdog 05/04/2003
Get this badass in the top three, please. He has a dirty shooting form, but man, this guy is an actor, and then some. Four masks to you, Denzel. 'course I got ten.
martin7377 04/13/2003
Denzel is simply one of the most wonderful and handsome actors of our time. He knows how to hold an audience with his powerful acting. He is definitely one of my all-time favorites.
Southga 04/10/2003
Denzel is a dynamic actor. His eyes makes him believable. I'd like to see you try more comedy in your older age, but you deserve a 5 in my book.
nicrules_007 04/03/2003

gopman79 01/05/2003
Great actor, a truly great actor. I most liked him in Glory, turned in a good performance. Philadelphia was an ok performance for him as the lawyer with homophobia, and Fallen, where he played the cop that kept getting stalked by the evil spirit.
faceman 12/05/2002
To say that Denzel is highly overrated of an actor, I could name many more actors who are far worse when it comes to acting. I disagree with a few posters, that think that Denzel is overrated, because looking at many of the movies that he has made he has either made a movie better with his presence and talent. And I have seen him hold his own with very good, if not great actors, Gene Hackman. So I rate Denzel great.
Stoneage 11/11/2002
How is this guy good looking?? He's ugly as sin. You know how much dental work he had to do to fix his snaggle toothed grin?
daydreamer1980 11/03/2002
Denzel is the best actor since Al Pacino! Thank God he finally got his Oscar, he truly deserved it. Everything he does is excellent. "John Q" was really good and his performance should get another nomination (if it qualifies for this year). And "Antwone Fisher" looks really powerful. So hopefully, he get some recognition for his directing too!
Jason1972 10/22/2002
Truly riveting in Training Day. The guy will keep your eyes glued to the screen when he does his thing.

I have always thought of Denzel as being one of the best black male actors we have. But he said something on the John Sally evening talk show aired on BET. It was during the time he was promoting the movie Training Day, "He stated that he's married to a real black woman, not a light-skin black woman but you know what I mean a dark real black woman." Now after hearing him speak in this manner it puts a cloud over his head for me. I feel that he should openly apologize to light-skin women of color. I'm one of those women so are my children. Where does he get off thinking that his wife is a real black woman because she's darker than me. This is what I call racism among our on race. These are the type of comments I had to deal with while growing up. He's always thanking God. What would Jesus think about his comment? And as far as I'm concerned a man of God should not be making these types of comments anyway. I will still watch his movies but because of what he said on the John Sally show it caused me not to be as happy as I would have been when he excepted his Oscar. He need to remember that all women of color supported him. Because I have always been a strong supporter of Denzel, just ask my husband. I'm writing this because I think it is important for people to realize the power of speech. I Hope this get back to Denzel and his family. Because I know I have to forgive and move on. But this is no way to treat your fans. Keep making good movies Denzel!
nash613 06/26/2002
the worst actor in the world.
acting_is_life _at_15 06/22/2002
he was a great actor before he made Training Day that was a horrbile movie there is a limit of how much cussing and drugs you need to put in a movie ! i know alot of people who cant even stand to watch him in any movie because of Training Day ! Come on Denzel your not 20 anymore ~
Bird808 05/09/2002
An actor who grabs your attention the moment his very presence is on the screen. He speaks with confidence is aware of the surroundings that his characters are in and almost controls every scene that he partakes. A man that is not only a tremendous actor who is dedicated to his craft, but a man who is a strong and positive role model to all devout working fathers and husbands in this world. He is the very decorum and essence of what a movie star and actor is all about. I wish him every success in the furture and believe me hes going to be around for a longgggg time.
CastleBee 03/28/2002
Top-notch actor, good looking, dignified persona. I’ve enjoyed Denzel’s performances since way back when he was one of the young docs on “St. Elsewhere” and in many films since that time. So, it doesn’t surprise me at all that he won an Oscar the other night. What does amaze me in the year 2002 is that race is still part of the consideration (whether a triumph or tragedy) when it comes to an award ceremony. Makes me long to be at a place in time where we can just say, “Excellent actor, great performance, bravo!” Maybe one day.
keekee84 03/28/2002
It's about time! How many knock out performances did the man have to play before somebody gave him that Oscar.
