Bill is okay. I get the feeling though he is not as open and genuine as he puts on. (I agree with him most of the time so that's okay, lol) Still, O'reilly is more "hardball" than the whining irritant known as Chris Matthews.

It seems to me that O'Reilly's calling for a terrorist attack on an American city and the bombing of a monument to my city's firefighters is a little extreme. If O'Reilly wasn't there already, this soundbyte should place him squarely in the Michael Moore / Pat Robertson zone of credibility - that is, not credible at all. Are ratings really that bad that you need to get hysterical, Bill? While I personally disagree with the Proposition 1 - a resolution that encourages schools to not allow military recruiting on campus - I also understand that Democracy does not always yield those results that i agree with. If Bill O'Reilly is uncomfortable with democracy, he should probably move somewhere else. Calling for the deaths of thousands of his countryman is an inappropriate and hateful response.

Clearly many who hate him and wish his downfall do so without genuinely being familiar with his actual political positionsand/or tv/radio show. While he is certainly a traditionalist by and large who leans to the right, O'Reilly frequently shows a great deal more independence in thought than your garden variety liberal tv host/actor/personality. His approach/ style may at first come off as a bit abrasive to some, but once one gets beyond that point, it's quite likely you'll find him to be quite rational, reasonable and logical on many issues - even when you disagree with him. I esp respect him for having the courage to take on such thorny issues such as illegal immigration (when folks like GWBush and Gov. Arnold S remain silent)and politically correct tyranny in higher education.

I don't really watch much of his programs, the few occasions in which I do watch it is for pure entertainment value, to laugh as his pomposity and absurd logic. In actuality, I think it relates not so much to O'Reilly as it does to the banality of the culture in which he thrives, like some specimen of bacteria. Years ago, when there were actual journalists of integrity at work, he would have been laughed out of the broadcast studio as the craven non-entity that he actually is. With Bill O'Reilly, you either love him or hate him. He is a very confident, powerful speaker, and he knows exactly what to say to get his point across. However, I think his speaking crosses the line at times, especially when he gets into heated arguments with his guests who don't particulary follow conservative values. He sets up his questions to elicit certain resonses from his interviewees, interrupts or even cuts them off when they've got a point, and speaks way too quickly at times in a know-it-all fashion. (Whether or not he's actually making sense is unknown since he speaks so quickly.) Lastly, I didn't like how, for days, he relished in political sex scandals like those of Bill Clinton and Jim McGreevey but did not spend more than a few minutes on his own scandal, to which he just closed the book, saying he could not talk about it. For someone who is just as guilty as the rest of us, he has such a lofty facade.
