She is an excellent actress. Her greates work is better portrayed in "Misery", I think we all would agree. I also liked her work on "Fried Green Tomatoes". Kathy Bates does justice to the meaning of acting!

Kathy Bates and Mary Louise Parker are my favorite actresses. I love Kathy Bates because of her ability to do anything, from comedy to thrillers. She is wonderful in everything she does. I would see anything she's in. I was shocked at what some people on this list said about her. I think she is very pretty, just not in the standard way. The thing I admire most about her is the humanity she brings to all her characters. There is a warmth and humor inside her that comes out in all of her characters. This is such a strong quality that I always sympathize with her, even in "Misery". Anyone who says she isn't the greatest actress in the world is a "cockadoody"!

She is a great actress and I hope someday to work with her. I loved Fried Green Tomatoes and the cast was great, I also would love to work with Mary Stuart Masterson. When I lived in Indiana I went to a casting director and she wanted to know why she should be my agent, I told her I was going to be the next Kathy Bates- she became my agent. I live in North Hollywood and work in film and am in school and plan to attend USC to study film and acting. I have been compared to her people say I look like Kathy and that is an honor. How anyone can award her fewer than five stars is absolutely baffling to me. She is flawless in every role she undertakes. Sure, the movie isn't always great, but she damn sure is! I think the earliest movie I noticed her in was Straight Time with Dustin Hoffman, but I could be hallucinating that one. Man, she can do no wrong!

I loved her in 'Misery;' I loved her in 'Dolores Claiborne;' and in many other movies. She is my favorite actress. She may not be beautiful and skinny (like some may prefer), but she is the best of the best when it comes to acting and that's all that really matters. I wish she could play in more S. King adaptations - she alone has the ability to make them into masterpieces.

I thought she was perfect in the role of "the biggest 'psycho' fan" in Misery. That was the first I had heard of her and since then I think she's continued to be impressive in everything she's done. She also seems very likeable as a person, at least from the interviews I seen of her but that's a pretty flimsy basis.

I agree that she is a good actress, but am surprised she is so high in the list! She was hilarious and heartwarming in Fried Green Tomatoes, frightening in Misery and pleasantly obnoxious in Titanic. She obviously has a wide range of talent.
