Admittedly this man knows an incredible amount of facts, but he is annoying to the umpteenth degree. I prefer some of the less zealous and more sane personalities.

If I am watching football, I want Madden announcing. PERIOD!

He is the most famous football announcer/analyst ever.

Amazing...When the game gets boring, he keeps it interesting with his unique sense of humor.

Madden used to be fun and informative to listen to. Now he struggles to come up with something clever or informative. Hang it up, John.

I think he is too smug and coy. He knows what he is talking about, but as I am an actor, presentation is really important. If you have ever played his video games, he gets pretty annoying when you keep hearing his voice.

John Madden is by far the best sports commentator. I sometimes laugh out loud when he bumbles over words, or when he offers his far out perspective. Excellent!

John is a football genius. His knowledge of the grid iron is unparralleled. As an announcer, I find him engaging and accurate. A game with him in the booth is always enjoyable.

John Madden is an odd character. He is a good TV broadcaster. He covers every aspect of the game. He also has a video game named for him in which they use his voice and his comments just as they would in real life.

There is no better combination of humor and football intelligence on TV. He gets really odd at times, like when he circles a lineman's sweat-stains on his butt when he's in the huddle. But he generally reserves displaying such behavior until the game itself loses its charm in a runaway. He gets so worked up sometimes that his passion for the game becomes contagious.

He used to get on my nerves with his "dinks" and "doinks".He has eased up on those the last few years. He and Pat Summerall are as good as any other combo ever.

John Madden's comments are very humorous which is a big plus. He also knows his football, of course. The way he expresses himself is also good. He talks in an explosive manner and a very exciting one at that.

Has a complete and comprehensive knowledge of his sport, an engaging and likable on air personality and good chemistry with Pat. The players, the coaches and almost everyone in football respects him, so he gets better information. He really projects love for not only football, but for sports in general.

Has a good sense of the psychology of football players. It seems as though he has known football ever since he was born. He is like an old coach who is able to explain all that is going on in the game.

While John is a very good color commentator, his schtick is growing old. "Bam", "pow", "All-Madden Team" and turkey legs at Thxgiving are wearing thin. He needs new material.
upchuck 04/05/2000
Madden was made for this job, he was exciting as a coach and just as exciting from the booth. He can make a blow-out sound like a real contest.

Still as sharp as they come. It's sad to see him starting to have to carry Summerall a little bit - but those two are still probably my favorite NFL announcing tandem.
Munson 04/04/2000
Madden is still the best football analyst in the business. He thrives even in the blowouts when he is still able to keep the interest of the viewers.
