First things first: I, like many of you, wake up in the morning (and go to sleep at night) to SportsCenter. The show has been a staple in my everyday life for as long as I can remember. With that said, I can honestly say that I immediately CHANGE THE CHANNEL when Stuart Scott is hosting. I'd rather suck it up and flip it over to ESPNews.I can't stand his annoying, awkward "humor" anymore. I can't stand his over-a-decade-old catch phrases anymore. I can't stand his voice anymore. I can't stand his attempts to be clever when he reads a 5-minute lead-in to a highlight. I can't even watch re-runs of "Stump the Schwab" anymore because of his awkward hosting and stupid send-offs when someone is eliminated from Round 1 or Round 2.Yeah, they kinda look like the Aryan Nation whey they host together, but guys like SVP and John Anderson are so much smoother and know when to turn on the comedy and when to turn it off. Stuart Scott, on the other hand, is just fake and whack. When a black man is giving Stu Scott a TERRIBLE rating, you'd better believe that means he sucks. Period.

Stuart Scott does a nice job on his broadcasts but I think his best-ever role was as a Sports Center co-host in the 90s. He coined the phrases "booya!" and "cool as the other side of the pillow" and was always entertaining in his descriptions of home run highlights. Stu Scott is definitely a very talented broadcaster and one of the best in sports.
disgust4PCness 11/01/2006
Horrible. I'm sure he's a nice guy to hang out with, but what an obvious affirmative action hire by a pathetic newtork. ESPN sucks...and their attempts to satisfy the NAACP and the NOW are endless. Stuart Scott tries his hardest on a daily basis to gain so called "street credibility" by throwing ghetto lingo at viewers. Please, stop it...you sound juvenile...and ESPN give up your overt efforts to create the fake "diverse" environments that do nothing but drive REAL sports fans away.
Ih8rateitall 05/24/2006
He's decent, I do chuckle when there's an interception and he says, "Hater in the house! or when he says, "Booyah!"
thevezs 05/02/2006
Stuart Scott is at his best when he's surrounded by great talent-NFL Countdown is a great show and he's quite bearable. However, when he's on Sports Center or one of ESPN's show's, he is absolutely out of his element and sounds like he's trying to hard to stand out. Stu, just be yourself and maybe, just maybe you'll be ok. Word.
Greg chambers 04/17/2006
stuart scott is the originator of bringing flavor to ESPN the brother is a inspiration to all races across the world
JimmyJames 04/12/2006
Stuart's the man.....for a UNC guy!
mamajama 03/11/2006
I think he's a bang up guy...a real sharp cookie
McGowan 01/14/2006
Insufferable.Further proof of ESPN's decline, just to be "hip".All style and bombast and no substance.
gamerman 01/01/2006
He tries to be hard to be cool, just like all of these ESPN clowns. I find it kind of weird when he interviews a black athlete he's like, "holla at yo boi" but when he talks to someone like a NFL coach he acts respectful. I think he is sooo fake and he wears glasses to cover his lazy eye.
Mr. Do Right 11/29/2005
All, For those who have negative comments remember, Stuart Scott has brought a style th ESPN that is amazing. His catches are sometimes remarkable, I can remember when ESPN was a boring show with no identity, but now in this era we have all ages watching ESPN, and for what? Mr. Scott has brought new school flavor to the world. Enjoy the show, and to all of you that have something to say remember this, Mr. Scott looses no sleep over these comments, so grow up!!!!
RedsFan1 10/04/2005
Definitely not as cool as the other side of the pillow.
bowers4143 09/13/2005
he believes he's bigger then the news? just give me the facts and leave the opinions at the water cooler. it's called sportscenter not the Stuart Scott show.
Optimus Prime 09/04/2005
Really annoying. Tries to sound cool, but he comes off like a dork. Not at all funny.
CanadaSucks 05/13/2005
When did volume, bombast, and bullsh#t expressions take the place of broadcast English? Stuart, just gimme the highlights and calm down. . .
IQUE2 05/13/2005
The vast majority of y'all are generationally and socially out of style. You aren't even aware that The Culture TRAIN has run over you..And passed you by. Now go back to your recordings of Jimmy the Greek type sports reporting, Amos N Andy..Or whatever it is that makes you comfortable PEACE.....BOOYAHHHH
phatphred 05/09/2005
the most annoying person on all of television. Espn should make him VP of the x games or some other garbage that no one watches.
B-Cash 04/03/2005
Yo the man is nice...he funny..yea he over does it sumtimes but overall he can still pull it off cuz he's smooth like that....holla at a playa if u see em on the street.....and we all kno where he's from DA U!....he was mad funny when him and Rich Eisen paired up all the time...they were the best Sportscenter tandem to ever report sports..and give him props he's knwoledgeable too
ellis 04/01/2005
Stu came up with most of the catch-phrases used on SportsCenter. He usually does a good job, but sometimes he goes a bit off of the deep end.
hawkster 01/29/2005
This guy tries too hard to talk and act like he is 17. Please grow up friend.

alpepper 01/07/2005
Stuart is OK, even funny, at times. At least he's got a schtick, unlike most of the Heads on SC. But it seems like you need a secret decoder ring to interpret his Scottlish, an amalgam of Hip-Hop, Ebonics, Dennis Milleresque Obscure References, and arcane catch phrases. Was I drunk or did I hear Stuart Scott once say, The pump don't work 'cause the vandal took the handle, after a B-Ball player stole the ball and made an uncontested slam dunk on a 3:00 AM airing of SportsCenter.
crash_davis 01/05/2005
Career seems to have gone the way Kenny Mayne's has. Funny, refreshing, and entertaining at first then a slow deterioration to a level of great annoyance. I just wish ESPN would take him off the Sunday night SC. At least with the other nights we get the 1 A.M. option if he's boo-yahing all over the 11 P.M. edition. Please go away, NOW!!!
Alexg681 01/01/2005
This buttface should get 0 or negative. He does kiss a lot of ass and the language he uses for a professional job is just awful and ESPN shouldn't allow it, but Al Jaffe (the guy who hires SportsCenter anchors) is an ass as well.
Wavebacker 12/11/2004
Stuart Scott has made his hip hop style of Sport Reporting palatable. It's a hard thing to pull off with a lot of people in the audience who just dont get it or are embarassed to hear street talk in what they think should be the standard , straight foward reporting. I credit him for taking a chance and making it work. I dont hate what he says, but there certainly are times where he's just flat out irritating. Still, Chris Berman can be tough to take and ESPN cranks out announcers who all have to have their catchy little sayings and trademark signatures( Dick Vitale comes to mind) so Scott falls right in line with the rest of them. He does kiss ass a lot.
widgeon 11/14/2004
I believe its Stuart please stop! You suck and you are not cool not to mention i you are a reverse racist.
Halos4Life 10/04/2004
Stuart Scott is just sad and awkward. His supposedly hip commentary would'nt be so bad if it came from someone who could make it sound natural, instead of forced. Scott needs to get over the fact that he's not street and deal with it. The stupid crap he says would sound more natural coming out of Dan Rather's mouth. Just sad.
uneek 09/20/2004
The most annoying man in sports, he even beats out Madden and Berman.
The_Drizzle 07/31/2004
When Stuart Scott first appeared on Sports Center, he was fresh, funny, and had a right mix of flavor to go along with his reporting. This is no-longer the case. He, along with all the little graphics, games, and gimmicks SportCenter broadcasts, is the reason SportsCenter has become unwatchable and flat-out unbearable. He no longer has his priority as a reporter, but rather as a hipster; problem being, he is no longer hip, nor fresh, nor funny. And because he tries so hard to be hip, he is no longer a reporter; just a loud, obnoxious guy who demands air-time. Stuart Scott needs to be stopped, now. Boo-yah.
slickwillie71 06/03/2004
As an African-American, I find him loathsome and embarrasing to watch. Leave the street slang where it belongs and just read us the damn sports already. I no longer watch when he's on, a shame since the few times he hasn't did his routine he comes off as a damn good announcer. His love for Michael Jordan is disturbing and I can't recall a show in which he doesn't remind everyone that he went to UNC. Exhibit A as to why Sportscenter is a shell of its once great self.
Roach 04/06/2004
The rating says it all, no more please! Stu Scott is the reason I don't watch sportscenter it has turned into a circus.
truthdetector 04/02/2004
Would have game him 1 star a couple months ago. But after watching Dream Job I'll give him 2. Actually he was real good on Dream Job, but terrible on SC
melott 01/26/2004
He's a closed--captioned typist's nightmare. I thought he was supposed to be a reporter/anchor, not a PR rep. for his buddies.
larry_biz 12/23/2003
I am Italian American, and I want to root for my own, so it has to be bad when many African Americans I know can't stand him because he feeds negative stereotypes. UNC's communications program is among the elite in the country, and for him to attempt to be street is nauseating. He wants to play golf yet sound like he's a thug. Stu, THEY DON'T MIX. He's about as street as Mike Tyson is corporate.
jgls 12/22/2003
the arsenio hall of sports broadcasting. nobody kisses ass like stu.
ty901c 10/23/2003
Well I am personally glad to know that Stuart plays golf with MJ, that FOOLZ RISE UP, he caught and NFL QUARTERBACKS pass with his eye...oh and that we can all get our dose of Thuggin' during SC. No really...it is enjoyable.
President -X-D 10/06/2003
I liked him before the ebonics took over his speech patterns.
saladdin69 08/11/2003
Thank goodness for the mute button.
hendo 07/25/2003
This guy is about as street as Bill Cosby, so stop trying to sound like you're from the inner city, Dog. This article is pretty funny: http://www.thebrushback.com/stuartscott_full.htm
kman1582 07/17/2003
My god, when he first started at ESPN, I kinda like him...but enough already Stu! You're not a gangsta you're a rich black man who graduated college! You're not "from the street"! Get over yourself, and p.s. we KNOW you're black, you don't have to be a stereotype anymore!
andrealle 05/23/2003
All of you who are trashing Stuart Scott would not be trashing the money he makes!! ESPN is an awesome network, and Stuart is one of many reasons that I watch it. An occasional "hip-hop" flava that he adds to the show doesn't detract from his personality, it makes him better. If he wasn't great, then he wouldn't be the substitute for Chris Berman, when Boomer isn't in. Get a grip, guys! Most of you who trash him probably don't even have your degrees, so stop hating on UNC, aw'ight?!
b.green 05/06/2003
How could you not love this guy? He even makes hocky highlights interesting
newswatcher 04/09/2003
Stuart Scott knows his stuff. He's a student of sports. Always learning. He may be annoying at times with his "showing much flava" and "and the Lord says ya gotta rise up", but he IS entertaining. What I don't like about Stuart Scott is he does his "schtick" too much. He also interjects his stuff while the other anchor is narrating their highlights. If he held back his schtick sometimes and elected to "play it straight" more often, ESPN might realize that he could do a lot more than just narrate highlights on Sportscenter. Maybe call a game once in a while... womens basketball some west coast baseball on Wednesdays? Boo-yah gets on my nerves sometimes, but I like Scott. He's an ESPN staple.
Teh pjak 04/08/2003
As soon as he's ready to stop trying to prove that he's black, he'll be entertaining, and a good sportscaster.
angusmacpherso n 03/23/2003
WHY anyone likes this guy is beyond me. Boo-yah to you, Stu...
Ern1dog 02/18/2003
This guy is horrible. I agree with all those who dislike him. He needs to quit with the ebonics and the ass kissing of black athletes( like Shaq and Tiger). Also, why do most ESPN broadcasters think they are funny ? I thought they were in the business of sports reporting not stand up comedy.
Burrellfan1 01/23/2003
Funniest man on ESPN. Just too hip for tv.
grizman 01/19/2003
Scott has talent; people inside ESPN like his writing, his tight calls on highlights and his ability in general. I find his extended "highlight calls" over-the-top, but no worse than when Kenny Mayne breaks into a "Bring Me Your Finest Meats and cheeses. It's not the hip-hop that makes it annoying, it's just that we don't need 30 seconds of screaming for a solo HR. Here's why I give Scott a 1 out of 5: (1) He kisses-*ss to athletes, particularly to MJ, more than any other announcer, and that's saying something. His love for Jordan is always-and-everywhere. He works in Jordan references in NHL highlights; (2) His comment to Ray Lewis after the press asked him tough questions about his role in 2 murders was: "Hey Ray. F**k them." Say goodbye to journalistic integrity.
