 | X Factor Z (13) 02/06/2007 | He's a classic, great voice, reminds me of 70's NFL football, great when teamed up with Dan Dierdorf.

 | retro1968 (0) 02/04/2006 | Dick Enberg was pretty good in his day. Sadly however, he is now a good fifteen years past his prime. He makes the most painfully obvious comments on both football and tennis and often seems to lose his place. It is high time that he retired.

 | gobolts (0) 12/15/2005 | Enberg still calls a good game. Back when he was working with Merlin Olsen, he was argueably the best in the business. I enjoy every game he does. He is definately HOF material.

 | Jmb88 (0) 11/08/2005 | Very good voice for calling a game. One of the better announcers out there.

 | BadgerAl (0) 10/30/2005 | He is the best announcer ever! He should be the #1 announcer for the NFL on CBS. i wish he'd go back to calling MLB games thats what he was best at was announcing baseball. Cause i'm sick of Joe (the only reason i'm a announcer is cause of my father Jack) Buck and Tim McKarver.

 | disgust4PCness (19) 10/23/2005 | Update (10/22/05):
I'm watching the Chargers vs Eagles game...and, just to confirm, Dick Enberg does in fact still suck.
Original Comment:
The guy is miserable...and should not announce anything that matters. Let him do the WNBA (is that still around...is the NBA still supplementing it with NBA ticket prices?). It is bad enough that the public must see/hear him when the Olympics comes around, but I stopped watching the Olympics when network policy decided to remove the competitions/action and replace it with cheesy/glamorized stories about athletes that OVERCAME the ODDS....BLAH...BLAH...BLAH. To be honest, I don't know which is worse...a Dick Enberg announced NFL game OR being forced to watch Ashlee Simpson at halftime during USC-OK this year. I'm off to gripe about Joe Buck now...AHHHHH.

 | Randyman (103) 08/15/2005 | I remember Dick Enberg from the old days, when he and Mickey Davies were announcing the Thursday night fights from the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. He was the best, and always a class act. I wish he still did boxing.

 | civilengineer (0) 07/06/2005 | Dr. Enberg is one of the all time greats. He is a joy to listen to during Wimbeldon. He is extremely knowledgable and at time humourous (gives John McEnroe a hard time when he choked against Lendl in the French Open Final).

 | ellis (2) 04/01/2005 | Dick Enberg is one of the greatest announcers ever. He can call anything, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, golf, and he continues to remain at the top of his game. All I can say is, OH MY!

 | mr_jaguar73 (0) 03/10/2005 | Oh my! This guy makes every game exciting, whether it's a classic or a crappy blowout. Enberg knows how to call anything, whether it's football, tennis, basketball, hop scotch, teatherball, or marbles.

 | alpepper (21) 03/03/2005 | Classy and eloquent. Kind of like the Walter Cronkite of Sports Announcers where you always feel assured when he is calling the game. Many years ago, he hosted a neat TV show called Sports Challenge which pitted athletes in a college-bowl like format. I still chortle at the time Enberg chided a foursome of old-time boxers who were getting beat rather badly by a team of LA Lakers (think gail Goodrich and Happy Hairston were a couple of guys on the team). Enberg commented how much quicker the Lakers team was on the buzzer. Of which Archie Moore replied, We'll see how quick these young men are in the Parking Lot.

 | timmhudd (0) 10/03/2004 | I too remember Dick calling Boxing from the Olympic Auditorium in L. A. Didn't he also do wrestling? Who was the old guy who used to say Woah Nelly?

Miss hearing him on NFL broadcasts...THANK GOD Greg Gumbel is GONE!!!! GOOD RIDDENS!

 | BigBadJohn (0) 08/03/2004 | Oddly enough, the sport he was probably best at was baseball. And he hasn't called that in more than 20 years!

 | Wally Ballou (0) 10/25/2003 | I have to confess a slight bias here; Enberg is a native of Armada, Michigan, which is about ten miles from where I grew up. That said, I believe he's still one of the very best in his profession. His propensity to "talk up" whoever's doing well in a given game is duly noted (though I don't think Enberg is nearly as guilty of this as his NFL partner, Dierdorf). And like many long-in-the-tooth announcers, he's occasionally given to misidentifying players or lagging behind on describing plays (though nowhere near the extent that Fox's Pat Summerall is). But Dick's verbal eloquence and classy demeanor more than make up for these shortcomings. I actually think CBS should have him, rather than Gumbel, as their #1 NFL play-by-play guy.

 | ty901c (0) 10/23/2003 | He is a legend and will be in the broadcast wing of the NFL Hall of Fame someday. He puts a quality telecast together with a mediocre analyst on mediocre games to the viewer every Sunday. The best move that CBS made was to pick up Dick Enberg...the next best move they can make is to GET GREG GUMBELL THE HELL OUT OF THE BOTH AND PUT HIM ON THE 8 tee of every WPGA event there is.
Does anyone have an ELWAY jersey that Dick can sign?

 | mprater (1) 03/04/2003 | Want a real legend of sports broadcasting? Here's your man. He's done it all, seen it all, and is still on top of it all. Good move, CBS, for snatching him from NBC!

 | golderbj (0) 12/02/2002 | One of the few "geezers" to stay at the top of his game. Are you listening Verne Lundquist?? Brent Musburger??

 | BigBadTA (0) 11/29/2002 | He isn't a great announcer, and i agree about him instantly glorifying whoever is having a good game that day, but he has an awesome announcers voice, and his voice alone gets him at least a three.

 | Un fou (0) 01/05/2001 | The only thing Dick Enberg knows about is golf, but NBC forces him on us in every sport. His comments are grossly obivious and display his idiocy. Worst of all, whoever is having a big day is instantly glorified by him as an all time great. I've heard him call Rashaa Salaam the best back in the NFL.
