How all of you can trash the best commentator in all of professional sports is beyond me. Walton is the only guy who really seems to enjoy what he is doing. You can sense the fire, the passion, the opinions, the attention to the flow of the game, and the intangiables into what it takes to win in his work. Clearly ESPN didnt promote his reality TV show well enough, it was riveting TV. The episode where he tries to get in touch with the fashion style of the younger players was great television. As for his take on non-NBA issues, hey id rather see him as President over George Bush anyday (i think about 90% of the general population could do a better job as Prez than GW). But it still makes people watch the NBA, and his commentating style complements the game at its current state very well.

To loathe Bill Walton is to love everything that is the NBA. If you have played basketball and you truly love basketball you can’t fault bill Walton for criticizing overly talented athletes who refuse to learn the fundamentals. I have grown up in Cleveland; I live through the misery of talented bums..i.e Darius Miles. I enjoy watching Steve Nash, Michael Jordan,Larry bird and Tim Duncan players that exude professionalism. If bill Walton seems harsh he needs to be. The players these days have coasted through life. Many have settled for mediocrity and the belief that the dunk is the only way to score. Bill Walton should be seen and heard as a guide to the prosperity to the GAME.

Classic know-it-all 60's holdover. Like any aging professor who nags about how it was "back in my day" Bill never shuts up about his opinion on anything. Walton does know basketball but he is really obnoxious in his delivery of the multitude of his opinions. Bill, your fascinating experiences of the 60's and early 70's are (and have been) over. . .just call the game and try to avoid saying "I" or "me" for 4 minutes. . .I HAVE to give him 2 stars because he does understand the game.

I really dislike Bill Walton! He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and dissed Emanuel Lewis. How can you diss Emanuel? Bill Walton is nothing but a drugged up washed out player that tries to fit in everywhere he goes because noboddy likes him. Walton should be sent to comentate on the canadian basketball association. Nobody would watch it anyhow.

He may have been a good player, but as a commentator, I can't handle very much of him. He goes on and on, and when you get right down to it, he doesn't know that much more about any of it than the average fan.

all you guys who bad mouth bill walton have no since of humor at all. sure he doesn't say the smartest things, but that is why he is so funny. i am glad he doesn't say dumb ass positive comments like: "with the left hand!", "wow look at the hustle!" all those players are making millions and about 10% try their hardest. how can't you people laugh at comments like "give me players." or "make a free through"- when the team (possibly the lakers) broke the most consecutive freethrow in NBA history. i can't help to laugh. get a since of humor and stop bad mouthing a great announcer.

He is annoying, sure. But he loves the game, provides insight that non-former players can't, and REALLY loves that game. THROW IT DOWN, BIG FELLA!

What can i say about Bill Walton, except the next time i have to listen to his inept ramblings about how he loves the Lakers and every other team should aspire to be them i may have to either rip my ears off or throw a chair through the TV. He has to be the most biased announcer ever, with his constant, loudmouthed chant of "Throw it down big man, Throw it down!" eveyrtime Shaq would touch the freakin ball. I thought NBC getting rid of basketball would mean the end of Walton, but ESPN actually had the testicular fortitude to pick him up!! arghhh!!!! It looks like another playoff season of turning down the TV and turning up the radio for me.

Walton is the worst. He ruins the games with his biased commentary and overall self-aggrandizing behavior. Whether he's arrogantly and totally unprofessionally insulting Snapper Jones (on the air, mind you) or showing his all-pervasive bias towards the Lakers at every oppurtunity, Walton has to be the most abrasive and well-hated announcer in any sport (beating out Dennis Miller in a close race). Why don't you just do us all a favor, Bill, and quit?

His voice is sort of weird. It was awesome when he was announcing a Knicks playoff game in 2000 and commented that Childs was ICE from the line in such an enthusiastic voice.

Bill Walton thinks he is the best commentator. Most of the things he says totally dis the player or coach whomever it would be. When has he ever said a player was GOOD or plays WELL.

You all are either inept, incompetent, or any of the adjectives you use to describe Bill Walton. Although it tires to hear about UCLA, there is not other announcer that compels me to watch a game than Walton. He is not afraid to expose players and rip their play. Yet he does this with accuracy, not bias. His commentary is just as intelligble as that little brat Costas and the erudite Frazier. Walton is hysterical and insightful and anyone with half a brain and an ounce of basketball knowledge recognizes this

I don't like Bill Walton's commentary on basketball. He was a good player but he is not very good at this new job. He makes obvious comments that anyone who has ever played basketball or watched a game could make.

Bill Walton has got to be the most inept, incomprehensible, absurd moron to ever be allowed to touch a microphone. If his grace in the NBA was equivalent to his ability on camera, he must have been a bumbling idiot there as well. He should be fired and have his right to make opinions publicly known federally revoked.

I have always hated Bill Walton and his style of commenting for basketball games. He thinks that he is the greatest basketball player of all time. He criticizes players so much and always compares himself to other players, both past and present. He just seems so arrogant in all he says.

Hall of Fame basketball player, he is really funny because he has no idea what he is talking about and always goes off subject continuously and doesn't care, but is well liked by others because of his good attitude.

"This is just HORRIBLE," to paraphrase the man himself. Only that's the kind of comment that Walton makes after 30 seconds of a b'ball game, when he's leaping to conclusions and making sweeping judgments that he'll change without notice minutes later. I, on the other hand, have watched Walton closely for several years now -- more than ample time to recognize that he's simply the worst sportscaster in TV history (except perhaps for Magic's disasterous work in the 1993 NBA playoffs).

No one will deny that Bill Walton is a horiffically bad sportscaster. He is biased, offensive, and clearly not the sharpest knife in the drawer. The real qustion here is whether he is one of those guys that is "fun to hate." NBC is banking that yes, this guy is so bad that it might actually help the ratings. In fact, they have even tried to actively spin this angle by allowing the reasonable Steve "Snapper" Jones and the sarcastic Marv Albert to haze him unmercifully. NBC, if you are listening, let's decide this once and for all. BILL WALTON SHOULD NOT BE ON THE AIR. HE IS IRRITATING, UNFUNNY, AND ARROGANT. HE IS NOT FUN TO HATE, NOR IS IT FUN TO WATCH ALBERT AND JONES RAG ON HIM. HE IS SIMPLY SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT BELONG OFFERING A SUPPOSEDLY "EXPERT" OPINION ON BASKETBALL, AND IT INSULTS ME PERSONALLY EVERY TIME I HEAR HIS MORONIC COMMENTS. UNDERSTOOD?

Bill Walton isn't just the most annoying sportscaster, he's the single most annoying TV personality of any kind. Listening to his biased, slurred rambling, I'm tempted to shoot either myself or the TV set. You'd think after living through all his basketball and drug experiences, he'd at least occasionally come up with something interesting or insightful to say. Don't hold your breath.

I know he is among the most dislike announcers, but I don't think Walton is bad at all. He is funny and, unlike other analysts, can offer great insight as one of the best players of all time.
