I don't care for David Letterman. As many posters have pointed out, he's not funny. I just can't watch an entire show; I have to turn it. Who cares if it will float?

Better Than Leno
pokey 12/19/2003
You either love him or you hate him. His off beat sense of humor still makes him my favorite late night talkshow host.
hateuall 11/23/2003
Letterman is great, and will forever be better than Leno! In a fight, Letterman would win. RIGHT ON LETTERMAN!!!
ramster 10/21/2003
David Letterman SUCKS! With a big fat capital S. I dont understand how anyone can find him funny? He is extremely unfunny, talks too much about sport, has completely POINTLESS segments on his show to waste time, and did i mention he aint funny. Only thing that would even be worth the watch in this show are the guests, and arghh Paul Sheiffer, what a disaster.
revenant2u 09/13/2003
David Letterman is, and will be the greatest entertainer I have seen. He has never let me down and as he asks, I think of him as my TV friend.
Moosekarloff 06/25/2003
Lame and unfunny for years. Appealling to those who think they're hip, but aren't.
RebelYell1861 06/10/2003
I only end up sitting through this about 3 times a year. It's not a bad show, and it has definitely made me laugh a few times, but it's nothing great. There are plenty of better shows, late night and otherwise.
SJSU 06/04/2003
Still the funniest man in late night TV. No close second.
vannessa 06/04/2003
I don't hear anyone laughing until he inserts a long pause after each "joke"....Even then, it only elicits a chuckle. Sorry Dave, that gaptoothed smile is more amusing than anything that comes out of that mouth.
Damifino 06/03/2003
Still funny, and certainly better all around than Leno, even on a down night. I do miss the irreverant, "who gives a damn?" Dave from the days at NBC, but I guess age has mellowed him.
nagaflas 06/02/2003
Some funny momnets, but I have to say that this guy truly creeps me out. His humor is strange, and most of the time unfunny, but most of all, he just seems strange. I never find myself laughing when I tune over to CBS to watch him, and his Top 10 Lists stink. Dunno, seems like he was funnier when he was at NBC. Maybe since he's a big star now, maybe it ruined his ability to make NORMAL people laugh. I've also noticed that most people who like David are weirdos.
cokemama66 05/30/2003
dont care for david he thinks he is funny; and he isnt
Murf 05/27/2003
I HATE this show!!
hervyy 04/20/2003
new york arrogance boring geek
sundance70 04/16/2003
Letterman's the man! He's always been an excellent host, but he really hit his stride by setting an example after 9/11 for everyone to follow.
mjstock 04/12/2003
Retirement time!
Shnikees 03/22/2003
Clearly beats Jay Leno every night pound for pound.
SarahJ 03/22/2003
Overrated. Not as bad as Jay Leno though.
philc 03/15/2003
To each his own. Nothing against him personally, but I don't enjoy his show. It doesn't usually make me laugh.
Sharon3802 02/27/2003
Hate Letterman! He's about as funny as an ingrown toenail!
rahzia 02/26/2003
Like his sponatenous jokes.. unlike Leno whose jokes r mostly scripted
kuppie21 02/19/2003
I hate this guy he's not funny at all, he sucks big time that top 10 thing I don't get it. I'll be happy when he's cancelled!!!
Jason1972 02/18/2003
I've always admired this guy. True, at times, some of his bits are a bit cornballish but the way he interacts with his guests are always with true professionalism. Plus, his Top 10 takes and stupid animal/human tricks are priceless. He's gotten better as he gets older.
mindkind 02/07/2003
His guests are sometimes good, but his jokes just aren't funny to me. Also, I've never found his top 10 funny at all, which is supposed to be his big gimmick.
djteel 02/07/2003
David Letterman asks the right questions of his guests and is much more natural doing so than jay leno. If you watch dave closely, you'll see he asks questions that often times were not pre-meditated. I've been watching dave since his beginning.(not his actual birth...that might have been insightful as well, however). but it's one of the few shows that seems to end way too soon..seems like that 60 minutes goes by so fast that i find myself wanting more of "dave" and his guest. so...i go out for coffee and talk to people.
Fredwah 12/14/2002
He's just not funny. Never has been.
msedart 12/10/2002
Boring
Filthy_Sanchez 11/07/2002
Dave is the King of Late Night Entertainment
Terror K 10/26/2002
Sometimes it's just plain stupid, but that's part of it's charm. The repeated jokes, the antics of Dave and Paul. All the extra bits like Rupert G and Biff Henderson make for hilarious viewing. I'm especially enjoying the Words of Wisdom fro Dr. Phil lately. Hilarious!
Tawnit 09/30/2002
Improves with age like a fine wine!!
Hognoxious 09/26/2002
Been watching Dave since the first appearance of Larry 'Bud' Melman. Is he predictable? Ocasionally, but that makes the show comfortable. There are some things we want to hear or see everytime. Why was Johnny Johnny? Because he entertained every night, and was himself - not a slave to the network. May he long reign!
cbehunin 07/22/2002
These late night talk shows just plain stink
BWhiting 07/13/2002
Best late night comedian (or any other time). Those who don't like Letterman should attempt to grow a sense of humor (this means you Oprah!).
SMG392 07/02/2002
Letterman is AWESOME!
acea80 06/27/2002
I think David Letterman is the best. He can make you laugh till you cry with the silliest of skits. And he is not afraid to let his emotions show through as he did when he had health problems and with the horrors of 911. He is the best dressed guy on TV. He shares his stage with regular people, like some of the crew members from the show and the guy at the Deli, Rupert. David is the greatest.
crazy_byrd 04/28/2002
Top Ten Lists, meatballs crowning Christmas trees, and (of course) the mighty Paul Schaffer and his band. Dave rocks late night tv like no one else has or ever will.
Leticia Martinez 02/28/2002
There is and never will be a talk show host like Dave. His personality makes him look better to me than Brad Pitt ever could. He's very funny when he needs to be, he's serious when he needs to be and he's not afraid to show or share his sensitive side.
Pamela Light 12/15/2001
It sucks
HoTbAbiE12601 12/06/2001
his show is very boring. tune into jay leno. he is much funnier and his show is better! nbc rules late night 4 ever!
raincat 10/13/2001
I don't watch the Late Show With David Letterman, much anymore but I give Dave 4 stars anyway, for emoting about the Sept. 11 tragedy.
Janey_Lane 10/07/2001
David Letterman is one of the few people who can be incredibly tasteless, vulgar and right down nasty and not be viewed as a know-it-all smart-a*s. Because you know he's only joking (at least for the most part). Paul Shaffer is not a natural comedian and sometimes seems to try to hard at being funny but at least he's not like Kevin Eubanks laughing at stuff he knows isn't funny. I love watching Alan Kalter and Biff Henderson in action. The Late show set may not be as good looking as the Tonight show set but if once Dave gets to intterogating... uhm I mean interviewing his guest you don't give a rats a*s about scenery.
James Snowden 10/02/2001
This guy is still the best. His unique witt and humor makes him the greatest host of my generation. When people think Late Night, They think of Carson and Letterman. Congrads Dave on 20 years of Late Night. Your still #1
Latenightfan 09/30/2001
Dave is still the best! His interviews are great and his comedy in superb! His off the wall comedy makes him one of the all time legends. While Carson will always be the King of Late Night, David Letterman has a style all his own. While his competition becomes unoriginal, Dave is still the one and only predecessor to Carson! Thanks Dave for 20 great years!
Potch1214 09/21/2001
Not as good as he used to be, doesn't take the chances he used to take, but still better than most. He still has it over Leno.
callmetootie 07/30/2001
David rarely has good celebrites and is so annoying.
jmw1556 03/05/2001
first of all i would just like to say, letterman is defitnently talented, but needs to give it up already, he's getting up there, or it defitnently shows on his somewhat successful nightly talk show, the late show. i prefer the tonight show, over the late show, most nights
lovepalovepa 02/24/2001
forever a dave fan, his humor is so natural, never contrived
Xiala Proserpine 02/23/2001
I worked with a guy named Lance Boucher who was on the show and he was an a-hole. I think Dave is alright but I like Conan O'Brian and Leno better.
dash 02/15/2001
David Letterman is so much funnier than the other guys. Leno doesn't have the ad lib skills that Letterman has. Leno seems like a safe, corporate comedian. Conan O'Brien still looks uncomfortable as hell, his delivery of jokes is poor, and his interviewing skills have a lot to be desired. Letterman can conduct informative interviews (he asked tough, probing questions of George W.), and he can make an interview with most anyone pretty funny. He is not afraid to go out on a limb, and make some folks angry. His energy level is admirable. I think he is great.
