It wouldn't be possible to agree with everything Bill said on PI but at least he had the balls to sit there everynight and voice his opinion for all to hear. Sure he knew there would be controversy - that was the whole point of the show (the people posting "1 star" ratings here obviously missed the point). Bravo Bill! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us with the new show.

This show shouldn't have been canceled, I mean even though sometimes Bill Maher got on my nerves it was very cool to see him get on other celebrities nerves too.

With a hilarious book soon to hit the stores, Bill Maher stands ready to thumb his nose at the Oil Barons, Croney CEO's, Wall Street Thugs, and Corporate Polluters who gave us the cheesiest presidency since Ronald Reagan. It ain't over till the fat lady sings and Bill Maher has a whopper of a gal ready to yodel. Funny- Disney stock just keeps falling, and falling, and falling...

Bill Maher is not what I would call a bright person just from watching his show. It's a good idea for a show though....and yet sometimes not. I'll admit, when you watch it, you wish you were there to put in your say. Yet, the show appers to be one sided most of the time. Usually, it's two to three liberals, an indepedent, and one conservative. Talk about an unfair advantage. Not to mention the fact that some of the guests that are on there are clueless when it comes to issues (Super Dave, Tom Green, etc.). That's when the show is a bad idea.

I loved Politically Incorrect. No I did not agree with Bill Maher and all of his views on the variety of subjects. I did not disagree with him all the time either. I loved the free flow of conversation so missing anyplace else on TV. The guests on his show expressed ideas that were too risky for other shows to express. Too bad freedom of speech on TV cannot include this show.

In our right wing dominated media, it's refreshing to see someone that gives an alternative point of view in a logical way. Nothing he says is just in spite of it but have reasons behind it. He isn't afraid to speak his mind. He's a great advocate for free speech. He makes people think. So to Bill Maher I say, continue to piss people off, it's the only way to make them think.

I may not have agreed with everything Bill said but it was thought provoking to say the least. What a concept for a show called Politically Incorrect, having a host that has opinions that are controversial, didn’t Bill know that free thinking isn’t allowed. Now what do we have in its place, especially one that covered both sides of a topic? Answer: Nothing

When this was an original HBO program, I would tune in and enjoy. When it switched to ABC, I still tuned in occasionally, but somewhere along the line, "PI" seemed to have lost its way. My problem with this show is not so much the fact that Bill Maher leans to the left--hey, this is America, and he can think and say what he wants. My problem is that "PI", at some point in time, got away from its original premise of letting proponents of both sides of an issue have their say. It almost seemed that it became a tool for ABC corporate's anti-conservative views, to the point where it was typically a "4-on-1" free-for-all, in which the Republican/Libertarian was either ignored, booed, called names, or laughed at in condescension. Politically Incorrect? In its later years, hardly. More like a politically-correct love-fest. Better luck next time, Bill.

The fact that we can no longer accept having our thoughts challenged is yet another sign of the ignorant taking over our society. If you do not like having your beliefs challenged, I understand. You are just not all that secure in your beliefs. That is okay. But I suggest you stick with Jay Leno and other fine talk shows that make no attempt at intelligent conversation. Just keep in mind that this is America. It is based on a grand experiment of freedom and free thought - at least it used to be. If you try to boycott or shut down thoughts, or opinions, you do not agree with - stop and think what happens when someone disagrees with your thoughts. Cause maybe, just maybe they are not perfect either. In this country we are supposed to be able to say whatever we think. There are plenty of counries, most in the Middle East, that control their people's speech through fear of retribution. Our borders are always open to those wishing to leave. Happy trails.

POLITICALLY INCORRECT was a unique place to hear alternative voices actually speaking on issues they cared about - and then they had to actually back their arguments up instead of giving cliche non-answers. The corporate media doesn't want America to think outside the box the tv comes in and PI was a celebration in the exercise of the First Amendment. Those who criticized it just might be the least truly patriotic of all. But don't take my word for it, just look at their flags!

PI wasn't about only saying things socially acceptable, it was saying what you really felt. If you were so against PI, then don't watch the show. There are some of us who could appreciate Maher and what PI allowed us to do. The U.S. is about freedom, and Bill Maher and PI were practicing freedom of speech. You might not agree with everything the man said, but the panel wasn't just peole with Maher's opinion. I've been watching this show since I was a kid, and it has always been one of the few places I saw where people really got to say what they felt, and get a chance to back it up, wether I agreed with them or not, I really liked to hear it.

I wish to congratulate ABC for finally waking up long enough to fire the sickest man on TV, Bill Maher. This imitation of a man is an immature coward, self centered, blame America First, ultra left wing rabble rouser whose nightly out of control ranting and raving, has earned him a well earned, and much deserved early retirement. I wish him a very long and uneventful retirement. I am a staunch supporter of free speech, and Bill has every right to express his sick views, but he does not have exclusive rights nor the right to prevent others from expressing theirs, by constant interruptions by him and his cronies. Also, stacking his panel of 4 against 1 is not my idea of a level playing field, and when he gets on his soap box to express an opinion, which is his right, it is incumbent upon him, as the host, to allow equal time to others to express theirs without interruptions and harrassment. Of course fairness and clear thinking can only be expected from a normal, clear headed, fair and reasonable person, Bill is none of these. He is a well educated but sick man, very immature and still living in the 60's. I suspect that he had a very unhappy upbringing as a child, and narcotics as an adult rotted his brain. His savage hate towards all Republicans, and intense vicious hate towards Preident Bush is nothing short of dementia.

I really liked politically incorrect, although i only agreed with bill about half the time. My problem with him wasn't his politics so much as his losing touch with the adverage nonrich person. I really resent it when he goes off about his electric car and how gluttonous the rest of us are to drive suv s that suck gas and we should give them up. Well.....instead of yelling at me to give up a car that i need , not only for the size but for the 4 wheel drive to get through the snow, why doesn't he call for the automakers to use the technology that they already have to make cars that get 50 miles to the gallon!! those of us that are barely making the house payment do not have the kind of money that it takes to change the world. my house is probably one tenth the size of most celebrities who complain about the ecology. well......do you really need a mansion that used a small forest to build??? do you really need to have ten bathrooms and all the water that that wastes? do you really need to have ten cars in the drive?? cause i have 2 baths and a tiny house and one car....why grip at me to sacrifice when you aren't?

This was a great show. You didn't always have to agree with Bill or the guests. That was the point. The show made you tihnk about your own opinions and how you would defend them in an argument, therefore strengthening them. Also it exposed you to different ideas. Sure, some of the guests were dumb but that's true of any show. There were always at least one or two good guests, and by 'good' I mean intelligent, not necessarily popular celebrities. Bill Maher is a polarizing figure, it seems. He was not always easy to like, but he was honest about his opinions and let all views be represented. I would rather have that than a bland, genial host who never offends anyone. Anyone with a point of view is going to make some people mad. There are other political forum shows on TV (Crossfire), but they are too often dominated by ideologues. Bill had a range of conservative and liberal views and wasn't just speaking for one party. This show will be missed; there was nothing else quite like it on television.

PI has been a steady staple in my viewing diet for quite a long time. Bill's guests and his comments are what made the show so great to watch night after night. It was refreshing to see people who DID NOT talk about politics and issues for a living give their views on such a diverse number of topics. The chemistry of the guests on each nights show is what made it special. There was always insightful discussions but also humor which kept me watching each night. This was entertainment the way I believe it out to be. Intelligent issues with comedy relief to keep one from getting bored. I will miss the show tremendously and only hope Bill gets another venue soon. Thanks, Bill for some great nights of TV

I was, unfortunately, unaware of how good this show was until Maher's days were already numbered at the end of 2001. You simply can't find a political show of this magnitude ANYWHERE on TV. A watcher could hear up to 5 (!!!) opinions on one issue. This is also one of the few Libertarian-friendly shows (another is South Park) out there. Reruns are still being shown, but only for a limited time. I would (and did) recommend this show to anyone.

Whether you tuned in to watch how ignorant celebrities were or tuned in to stimulate your mind you would never be dissapointed. No topic was ever off limits no matter how tabboo. Bill challenged us to think and exmaine our nearest and dearest beliefs. He always stuck to his guns and never received the respect he was owed. He stands for all that Americans claim to be the most important thing, free speech and democracy. He may never have spoken about Canadian issues, but as a Canadian I learned a lot watching his show about how the Evil Empire works from an insider. And at the end of the day he made me respect America a little more.

Dispite what the conserv-neo-fascists think Bill Maher opened his show to unscripted opinions. I'M only venturing a guess here but to all the conservative critics out there who think Bill Maher loaded the panel, how about the thought that not too many coservatives want to go up against a person as knowledgable as Bill and his guests and have their half-baked ideas come under such severe scrutiny. (They seem to get a fairly well balanced panel on shows such as "CAPITOL GANG")

Bill Maher is along the same line as the other great comedians of our time. He takes his opinion adds humor & personality and creates something original. For all of you that take it way too personally grow a thicker skin, you're not going to find anyone more down to earth than him whether you agree with his opinion or not. By cancelling his show, ABC demenstrated just how out of touch these huge corporations are with middle America (See Worldcom,Enron,Etc.). However, Bill Maher will show up elsewhere, whether it's on radio, in a book or back on T.V. he'll be back & more bitter than ever!

I am very sad to see the show go. It was one of the only shows on TV that gave people an honest debate. You got to hear all sides of the argument and make your own opinion. I agreed with Maher about 50-60 percent of the time. I hate those pundits who have guests that just mirror their own opinion. Bill got down in the argument with everyone. Sometimes he was right and sometimes wrong. Always thought provoking and entertaining. It's a shame that ABC didn't have the guts to go against the current RIGHT-WING grain. Okay, I vaguely remember the mentally challanged children and dog comment, and I remember being a little upset until I started to think about it. For me and for some people humans are worse than dogs, or no better than dogs. Actually, if you follow deep ecology it'd be anthropocentric to call a human better or higher than a dog. And if Bill Maher bounces from woman to woman, yet always comes home to his faithful dogs, isn't that some what of a compliment? I mean, I know that I have liked my cat more than some humans. Why? Because my cat is non judgemental. My cat doesn't bitch. My cat is oblvious to things in the world that most people aren't, and so being a teenager having a cat is sometimes a lot better than having a bunch of petty friends who talk about what other girls are wearing at times. (I'm nineteen). So to me, looking at animals from a respectful position, it's more of a compliment. Animals aren't horrible or foul or below humans, they just don't have the capacity to understand what humans can. A mentally challanged child sometimes can be the same way. Yes, the child is a human being, but in a wonderful way the child isn't doomed to a life of petty human ways where we care more about our bank accounts than just being together. My cat just wants me to pet her, where as humans are more demanding and less appreciative of the simple things in life. I'm not entirely sure how Bill intended it, however, it's very anthropocentric of all of you to put down dogs as if they are nothing or so beneath all of us. They just have a different learning capacity, it doesn't mean that they aren't loyal and wonderful creatures. We all have different purposes in life, a dog can't drive a car, but that doesn't mean a dog's purpose is lost. And I for one will miss Bill's show. It was the best show of all time. I don't think there is anything on ABC worth watching anymore. How will it be to go from Nightline News To Jimmy Kimbel? I just don't know. Rock on Maher.

I don't want to attack anyone, but people that dislike this show tend to be closed minded and unrealistic. Bill Maher didn't attack things to bother people or offend. He talks about the truth when is too controversial, offensive, or simply disturbing to be talked about on main stream tv. I challenge you to find anyone else who challenges the status qoe so regularly and vehemently. Challenging the government is the most patriotic thing one can do... to challenge and ask questions and not simply go along with the crowd. This is what makes America and free speech great.
