I can't give it a 5 since the show has dwindled in recent years. The older reruns are still enjoyable since the newer, weaker shows still don't outnumber the excellent older shows. The Niles / Daphne get together was a mess and still is; it's ruined a good deal of the show in my opinion. I really disliked the "pregnant Daphne pretending she's just gaining weight" episodes; that whole concept was unfunny and they should have written her out of the show during the most obvious months of her pregnancy instead of using that LAME plot twist. Over the years Fraiser has been one of very few show that can make me laugh out loud; for that they deserve applause.

This is a really great show. I'm surprised it hasn't found a perminant home on NBC's Thursday night yet.

Can you believe it? An NBC sitcom with actual wit? Clean slapstick? Rare profanity? A brain?!?!? Yes, its true, as this spinoff of Cheers proves. Now in its eleventh year, this immortal sitcom (which could be on Nick at Nite now, with no objection) follows the misadventures of Frasier and Niles Crane—two psychiatrists—Daphne Moon Crane—a home health care worker—and Roz Doyle, who is a bit guy-crazy. Also in the mix is Frasier’s Dad, whom Frasier lives with. The show is hilarious, and perhaps, one of the best-scripted comedies of all-time. The comedy range is wild, from slapstick to crazy dialogue to the irony of two psychiatrists acting so crazy! Set design is top notch and it is filmed before a live audience, which is a good thing. In fact, the live audience is supplemented with a laugh track, with some laughs dating all the way back to I Love Lucy! The show has class, that’s for sure, and rarely dabbles into sexual content. On the rare occasions that it does, the jokes are done so that it would go over the head of children (unlike the subtle-as-a-sledgehammer, let it all hang out sex jokes found on Friends and Will & Grace). In fact, some episodes are rated TV-G (a rarity on today’s primetime, especially NBC), compared to the constant TV-14ness of Friends. Someone said Frasier was the I Love Lucy of our time. Although that’s hard to say for some (Frasier doesn’t quite have the mass appeal of the universal I Love Lucy), it certainly is the best sitcom on the air since 1999. Thankfully, it is widespread in syndication and has lasted over 200 episodes! Outshining its parent show, Cheers, Frasier will not be cancelled any time soon! Good day, and good mental health!

"Frazier" is one of the greatest shows on television today. It is extremely funny, and I really enjoy the sarcastic wit of Frazier himself. A classic show!

Kelsey Grammer has been doing the character of Frasier for so long that he has it down to a science, great show amazing everything.
ChunkyLover53 02/09/2003
Frasier has really gone downhill in recent seasons, but is still a good show. I love Kelsey Grammer and Frasier was one of my favorites on Cheers. The writing, acting, and jokes are great. I like watching the reruns when I get a chance. I think Frasier is still a lot funnier than all the garbage on TV now.
Cheersfan2234 02/02/2003
It's a preety good show, the only one to actually watch now a days. It's better than that overrated peice of crap friends. put it back on thrusday and take Everybody Loves Raymond from CBS that is the most of must see tv you can make out of today's sitcoms. NBC is not must see tv thurday anymore it is must see another channel.

BORRRRING A lifeless piece of crap centred around a no talent actor.

Alas, it has seen better days, but in rosier times it was our best (perhaps only) example of "high," or "character" comedy, featuring witty repartee and characters who were intrinsically funny, as opposed to the run of the sitcom mill where ordinary shlubs get yucks by doing stupid things and then trying to cover up ther lies and blunders. (That's "low" comedy, or farce, and it's the rarely done well anymore.) Nowadays the Gilmore girls are our reigning high-comedy queens, but Frasier and Niles are still among the best comic characters TV has given us. They're great farceurs as well -- a brief silent sequence in which the fussy Niles sets out to iron his trousers and ends up setting the sofa on fire places David Hyde Pierce (in my view) in the rarefied company of Chaplin, Lloyd and Keaton.

Frasier is the only comedy show worth watching on television. It is wonderfully written and brilliantly acted. All the cast works so well together (even after 10 years) and the writers just keep coming up with one funny situation after another. It's remarkable. The characters have deepened over the years and interact differently than they did in the beginning, which makes it even better. It deserves all the accolades it received in the past and, truth be told, should *still* win ahead of some of the poorly conceived programmes that are currently being honoured at the Emmys. I haven't seen any actor who could hold a candle to the very talented David Hyde Pierce! It is a shame that some of the critics and veiwers have begun to say that the show has "lost it". NBC also is to blame for this perception - they have virtually deserted the show after dumping it out of the Seinfeld spot a couple of years ago. But even with being treated like a second-class citizen, Frasier has still managed to win its time slot and delight fans every Tuesday night!
SweetAdeline 12/20/2002
Frasier is right up there with Mash. I hope when it goes off the air they do reruns. All the characters are great, even Eddie. I think the funniest episode was when Frasier and Niles bought the restaurant and had to all pitch in and run the place. Every scene was a surprise. This is one show I hate to miss!

Cornerstone of comedy TV.

I did enjoy the first couple of years of Frasier, but I lost interest after that. I've always thought it was pretty over-rated. Personally, I think that Wings, which was created by the same people who created Frasier, was a lot better, but that show never got any of the praise, awards, and critical acclaim that Frasier got. Frasier is still better than a lot of the crap that's on TV now though. I think Frasier is a 3.5 star show, but I'll give it the whole 5 stars anyway, out of respect for David Angell, one of the creators of Wings and Frasier and a writer for Cheers. He was one of the many innocent victims of the 9/11 attacks. He will be missed.

It's a good show, and this is from somebody who loathes live-action American sitcoms from the last 10 years. It's writing is more sharp and has an almost british style to it. Kelsey Grammer is a brilliant actor, and his character Dr. Crane, is one of televisions best. Not quite as good as it used to be, but still a good show none-the-less. Witty and interesting, unlike most of the so called "comedy" shows that plague our TV screens these days.

I am a sitcom freak. Frasier is a daily re-run favorite. He is a pompous windbag, but that is just who he is. The show is not as good as Cheers, but then again, not many sitcoms are. Frasier tries too hard sometimes to please everyone. His show has been playing to his lagging demographics as of late; a sign of desperation, but I like Frasier just the way it is. It may not be the best, but it is one of my staples. I am surprise it has been on for nine years already, boy, does time fly when you're watching good sitcoms.

I know alot of people love this show, but I find it boring, cant sit through an entire eposode. Its just not funny.

PennyLee 06/18/2002
One of the best shows on television; definitely the best comedy. David Hyde Pierce is a gem; brillant. Kelsey Grammar, Peri Gilpen (voice over for "Nick at Nite" promos), John Mahoney, and Jane Leeves are great too! I do agree with those who think the writing has slipped a little in the last year; the show was hard hit when one of the co-creators, David Angel and his wife were victims of the September 11th tragedies. Hopefully it will regain the momentium it once had. Although, a slow night of Frasier beats out many television shows that are considered, by some, to be good shows. Fortunately for us the cast signed on earlier this year for three more years of Frasier!

I can name my least favorite episodes on 1 hand. I love this show! I look forward to Tuesdays and I'm thrilled to see the writers take risks. Niles and Daphne are the best couple on TV. Nothing will ever top the 8th season season finale.
CastleBee 09/19/2001
"Frasier" continues to be the best TV comedy has to offer. Everything about this show has always been top of the line - cast, writers and producers. I never get tired of hearing the witty exchanges between Frasier, Niles and Martin and still look forward to Eddie's appearances. Though it may be heading toward the last hoorah, "Frasier" will no doubt have a very long after-life.
cappagurl 09/06/2001
I love this show111! It has reality and I can relate to it. Plain and simple, I think this is the best show and I hope NBC will keep the show on its regular schedule 5 days a week. This show is on of the few things I watch on television.
Snoopy 08/23/2001
While I admit to laughing at a few of the earlier episodes, I still find Frasier annoying, over-rated, and rarely funny. The only 2 characters I really like are Martin and Eddie. I can think of other shows that are far funnier and more enjoyable than Frasier.

Way over-rated

Who could ever think that a sitcom about two intellectual brothers, indulging in cult converstaions would be so hilarious? The fact is that Frasier is an intelligent comedy, and the reason it has gained so much popularity is that it’s the first and only sitcom to have this trait. In this ever-changing society we live in, new types of shows have to emerge all the time, and this type succeeds. The creators and writers are obviouslly brilliant, and the heart of this show above anyone else. Also, this show is heavily filled with irony above any other show on television. My favourite line on Frasier right now, would be the one from the episode where they’re trying to sell an antique object which is believed to be worth thousands, and came down from his great-great-aunt. It’s also the occasion in which him and Niles think they’re part of the royal family. I can’t remember exactly, but when the buyer was telling them the story about the object, and how a maid that worked for the royal family had stolen it, Niles says despicably: “Servants!” followed by Frasier’s angry hypnotic look “There’s a back aching for the lash!!!” and Daphne who is just coming in to the living room with coffee “I’m going as fast as I can!”. Oh, that was so memorable and hilarious!

With the dynamite team of the writers and the actors, Frasier cannot be described as anything less than a pure work of comedy genius- literally and metaphorically. It is hard to believe that the original creators were not going to include a brother when you see the amazing on screen chemistry of David Hyde Pierce and Kelsey Grammer, as the two brothers Crane. Although owning the same tastes in wine and opera, as the series goes on you realise how different each of the brothers really are from each other- Niles being the more sensitive out of the two. Their pretentious manner, much exaggerated against the lifestyle of their blue-collar ex-cop father Martin, would be seen as extremely annoying to a first time viewer, who had no bakground knowledge of the show. But, the writers have made a fine job of making the loyal viewers believe that underneath their snobbery lies two very caring, sensitive men, who always offer a helping hand. Niles' relationship with Daphne has blossomed throughout the duration of Frasier, and is continuing to do so with the two now being a couple. Many people think that, due to the difference in their background, they would not make a great couple. But, it has been proven that Niles and Daphne have a lot in common with each other. For example, in First Date, Season 5, they both sung the Ella Fitzgerald classic, 'Heart and Soul' while chopping carrots- emphasizing the bond they have with each other. Who did Daphne turn to in times of trouble- Niles, of course. The mutual respect they have for each other is the core of their successful relationship- both as friends and as boyfriend and girlfriend. Not all the glory must go to the actors of course, for the creators of the dialogue they produce are the writers. Time after time, they come up with classic, rememberable lines. I'll give you some examples.... Frasier on Maris.... Frasier: I like her from a distance. Like the sun...Maris is like the sun...except without the warmth... Niles exit... Niles: I have to run, I have a multiple family seminar and it takes me forever to fill out the name tags. I think that you will be hard pressed to find dialogue that have more intelligence than in Frasier, for every episode is enjoyable to watch, even to the first time viewer. For all those people who have not seen it, you are missing out on fantastic comedy. ;) And Eddie is really cute, too!
Frasier Fan 05/31/2001
I don't watch much television, but I HAVE to watch Frasier! One evening, my daughter asked for help on her homework, and I made her wait. In frustration, she said, "What's more important: Frasier or homework?" Homework is very important, but on Frasier night, it can wait. My favorite character is Niles. One episode had Niles and Frasier (as usual) angry at each other. Niles said, "I'm making a fist and I'm thinking about using it." (Now THAT should strike terror!) Frasier looked at Niles' fist and said, "For God's sake, Niles, the thumb goes on the outside!" The writers must have a great time thinking up these lines! Incidentally, one can enjoy both the Simpsons, AND Frasier! You don't have to be better than anyone else to enjoy it's snobby, clever humor.
DottiA 05/25/2001
The scripts are getting stupid.
liddlebopeep 05/24/2001
OK, I may not be "sophisticated" enough for Frasier's brand of comedy, but I know what's funny when I see it. Yet, when I try watching Frasier the laughs don't come. Frasier seems like a sticom for snobs, it's as if fans who watch it think: "Oh, I watch Frasier so that means I'm a more intelligent person than my neighbour who watches such and such". Yeah right. Open your eyes people, Frasier is not intelligent nor funny, it's recycled cliche after recycled cliche with annoying accents......Niles loves Daphne, Frasier has another date with who gives a damn and yada, yada, yada. Who says comedies have to be "intelligent"? Sitcoms are meant to make you laugh and are not meant to be philosophical. So get off your high horses Frasier fans, you're no better than those of us who watch The Simpsons.

Frasier is actually a really funny show, I just never really noticed it. Kelsey Grammer can really act and make people laugh in this sitcom. I like the dog, he's so cute.

"Frasier" is a great show. I know the show isn't about Niles and Daphne, but I have really enjoyed the fact that their finally together. But I have really missed having Daphne on lately. I know it's because Jane Leeves had a baby, but she has really made the show for me. My husband thinks she's a babe. I also like Frasier and Roz's friendship. Martin is a hoot!
Engelbrecht 03/26/2001
Frasier is in my book the finest of TV entertainment today. A wonderful setup for describing the big and small issues of life and a group of lovable characters makes this sitcom a joy to watch as a whole. After seven seasons, the show still manages to renew itself and develop the characters (or though some of the recent episodes have shown repeats on old storylines, happens to them all). I can strongly recommend this sitcom, particularly to those that prefer entertainment that goes beyond the f-word.
reisefrau 03/26/2001
One of the best shows on television. Funny, classy, tender, dramatic, over the top farce and human life all in the same package.
marriedaniac 03/23/2001
Classy show with intelligence and wit and superb acting. Actually derserves all the awards it's won.
Wiggum 03/20/2001
I recognize the humor of this show as intelligent and well-done, and I like the actors, but for some reason I just don't enjoy "Frasier" very much. I've watched it when it happened to be on, but I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to catch it. Niles is great, and Kelsey Grammar does an excellent job, but something about this show just falls flat for me.

I think 'Frasier" is a GREAT comedy way ahead of "Friend's". The writing is Superb. Nile's is my Hero, the way he remove's his hankie from his pocket to brush down wherever he is about to sit is hilarious.Frasier and his Love life - will he ever find someone? I do think him and Roz would make a good couple. As for Nile's and Daphne, they are so different,I loved the episode about Daphne's "weight" when she fell and when Martin said "Hey Daph,I just thought of something funny,it just took 3 cranes to lift you" I have to say I nearly fell of the chair laughing. This comedy will certainly become a CLASSIC !! 5 STARS to Frasier,Niles,Daphne,Martin,Roz,Bulldog and not forgetting Eddie (the wonder dog) `~~ Keep up the GREAT work guys ~~

I think Nyles' character MAKES this program. And Eddie of course ;o)
