One of the funniest shows of all time. This show will always be a classic. This show set the standard for tv sitcoms today. It's technical advancements with the 3 camera angles was a first also in television. Even after 50 years in reruns it still is as funny as it was before, though some of the plots are outdated, it catches the essence of life back then.

What!? I dont love Lucy!
GoodGuy418 06/16/2003
simply the best sitcom...ever!
Redoedo 05/28/2003
This show changed television forever when it first hit the scene in the 50s. It is an American classic that is still popular even today. This revolutionary and rebellious show, I think, paved the way for one of my favorite shows, "The Golden Girls". Lucille Ball is an American Icon who truly will never be forgotten, as her show continues to be shown on late night television, nearly 50 years after it first started filming.
singinchika14 05/11/2003
i love this show!!! it's the best!!!
SoSingular 05/04/2003
Lucille Ball paved the way for later greats like Valerie Harper, Roseanne, and Bea Arthur. She set the standard. And those puppy dog eyes... who could forget?
Moosekarloff 04/28/2003
Corny and totally unfunny. Lucille Ball is perhaps the most annoying and irritating personality in the history of TV. I can think of only three or four episodes of this drivel that were genuinely amusing. This piece of crap is the most overrated trash in a most pukey medium.
Karenlucy 03/25/2003
The very funniest show of all time and although there have been great comedies since, NONE will EVER top I LOVE LUCY!!! All of the cast was so fantastic, they all "seemed" to have a great chemistry together (although if you know your ILL trivia you know the actors who portrayed Ethel and Fred ......Vivian Vance and Fred Frawley.....really hated each other)..... I have seen each episode countless times yet I still laugh each and every time I watch them. If you feel down or depressed, then this is the show to watch. Although we have lost Lucille Ball and all of the other actors in this show, we can always enjoy their work in I LOVE LUCY :-) And I feel comfort in the belief that "the gang" are all together again in heaven, making the angels and God laugh!

Revolutionary.
BonnieBlue 02/24/2003
A groundbreaking show during it's time, but it's rather dated now and the reruns hold no appeal for me - except for the chocolate factory and "meatavitimegiman" (sp?) episodes. But, let's face it, how many times can one watch Lucy scheme to get in Ricky's show. Yawn.
crimson_and_cl over 02/10/2003
I definitly love Lucy. Such a funny show. Can watch the same episoders over and over and its still funny. Plus Ricky is such a sexy Cuban.
MissPackRat4Je sus 02/04/2003
Doesn't everybody? I sure do! My favorites are the "Vita-meata-vegamin" episode, and the one where Lucy got stuck in the freezer. Her tears even froze on her face! Is it any wonder that this show is near the top of the list!? People know what comic genius is! May "I Love Lucy" live on in reruns!
WarMaid 01/13/2003
The mother of all sit-coms! It's easy to forget how original Lucy's comedy was as it's been imitated so often. My favourite episode is where she sets her putty nose on fire! I laugh until I cry every time!
MikeLuvsLucy 12/28/2002
“I Love Lucy” is a classic masterpiece! It is the sitcom that set the standard for future sitcoms. There has been nothing like it since. It is the “mother” of all sitcoms and it has served and will always serve as a role model for all sitcoms. We can see a little bit of “I Love Lucy” in all sitcoms from “The Honeymooners” to “The Andy Griffith Show” to “All in the Family” to “Cheers” to “Friends” to “Everybody Loves Raymond”. All of the comedy routines and stereotypes came directly from “I Love Lucy” among other things. It has been the most influential sitcom ever and will continue to be. So many of television’s firsts were on “I Love Lucy”. For example, the three-camera technique was first used on “I Love Lucy” to film the episodes. Pregnancy was first dealt on “I Love Lucy” among other things. “I Love Lucy” is truly the best sitcom ever and it has come a long way since its premiere. Airing after fifty years and still continuing to air is an amazement and it proves how great “I Love Lucy” really is. The show holds the most records and no sitcom can ever replace and do better than the great “I Love Lucy”.

I love to watch this show.
galihec 11/21/2002
I love this show, it's one of the best shows out there because even after many years, it still makes you laugh! I enjoy the re-runs and hope to be enjoying it for many years to come.
lukskywlkr. 11/07/2002
All the things that Lucy and Ethel got into, they are still copying today. Only it's not as funny as when Lucy did it. Unlike most of today's actors, Lucy was willing to do anything to get a laugh. And they really did have the perfect cast. Ricky, Lucy, Ethel, and Fred made some of the most memorable tv comedy of all time, and it is indeed timeless.
Megs 10/13/2002
ILL is so funny and great, the shows of my generation (gen y) will never compare to this show...excpet maybe Will and Grace (the latter being a modern day Lucy)
ofofofof 08/23/2002
i only saw it once but it was so funny!!!!! it's a great show!!
radiogman 08/15/2002
The best sit-com of all times
Quincy 06/27/2002
It is the all time classic. Anyone who says that it does not hold up over time is simply not familiar with the rest of the 1950s TV landscape. A suggested primer, assuming one can find these shows on some local religious UHF, is I Married Joan, My Little Margie and Life With Elizabeth (the latter starring Betty White, who hadn't yet perfected playing dumb and being charming at the same time.) I dare you to sit through an episode of any of these. You WILL come away with a renewed appreciation for I Love Lucy, guaranteed!
oodie 03/21/2002

kerry 03/21/2002
"TERRIFIC, TERRIFIC, TERRIFIC." I Love this show!!!!! Now this is what I call real comedy. This is definitely no comparison to the stinky show, "the honeymoooners" because I Love Lucy can outbeat it any time!!!!!
Snoopy 03/11/2002
I don't know if it's because the show was on way before I was born or what, but I have never loved I Love Lucy. There are some moments that I find funny, like the chocolate factory episode, but over-all, I find the characters really annoying and the plots, jokes and writing dull and repetitive.I think the show is very out-dated too. I don't think it would last a month if it was on today. I give the show a 4 because it is one of the pioneer shows of TV, but personally, I rate I Love Lucy as a 2.5 at the most.
i_LoVe_LuCY_86 11 02/26/2002
"I love Lucy" is the best show on telivison today. It has held up perfectly to the day, It's family and friendship values. It still shows, just as good as it did then, the true freindship and love that people can share. And yet no matter how much troble everyone got into, and no matter how mad they were at one another, you always knew that it would have a happy ending.
Errol 02/09/2002
Lucille Ball was a comic genius and I Love Lucy was her masterpiece. The chemistry between her and Desi Arnaz was supurb. Lucy was willing to let go of all dignity and let herself play the fool for the sake of comedy, and as a result she became one of the most respected talents of all time. William Frawley was also very funny and likeable. The only weakness of the show for me is the exaggerated, not so believable aspects of some of the plots. But that had to do more with the writers and the fact that television was still coming out of its experimental stage than it did the talent of Lucy and her crew.
Jilian5 02/07/2002
I love Lucy! Honestly, everything, I LOVED! Whoever made the comment about how Lucy and Desi hated each other in real life better read Lucille Ball's autobiography and Desi Arnaz's autobiography, and the words of those who worked with them closest. Lucy and Desi loved each other to their dying days, and although they had their problems and divorced at the end of the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hours, it didn't matter. They still dearly loved each other. And that love produced something so spectacular- I Love Lucy, and something even more wonderful- Desilu Studios. Their chemistry, as well as deep, deep love and passion shows through all the time. You can just tell. And although Vivian Vance and William Frawley never quite liked each other, they had great chemistry, too. Almost like a brother-sister relationship. Honestly, the comic genius of Lucille Ball, and the production smarts of Desi Arnaz, as well as the incredible love between the two, and the other talented people who worked behind the scenes created something so timeless it can be considered the classic among classics. I Love Lucy is incomparable...who can compare it to shows such as Friends or Cheers, who get their main laughs with jokes or sarcastic comments about sex or alcohol or crude language? I'm not saying that those shows are bad, because they are certainly funny--they just can even be in the same category as Lucy. Nothing can! Just watching Lucy...every cell of Lucille Ball was Lucy Ricardo. I most certainly can NOT choose a favorite episode...once I think of one, I think of another, and another, and another...until I've named all the episodes of I Love Lucy! Desi Arnaz is certainly underrated...but everyone who is a true Lucy fan knows the facts. Lucy plus Desi equals not only amazing love and passion, but it equals their entire life- I Love Lucy. The title describes not only Ricky Ricardo, but Desi Arnaz. Read the book, Desilu: The Story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz if you want proof. Sure, it points out a lot of their bad parts, but come on! If we focused on the bad parts of any couples, of course they'd look unhappy and not in love. But the book describes their love, and I have no doubt in my mind that their love continued to last after their divorce and to their dying days. Thank you Lucy and Desi, you've created something so magical, priceless, timeless, and perfect...thank goodness for television. Your love for each other gave us I Love Lucy...and we love you.

Good comedy, but I prefer The Honeymooners.
JoDo 01/03/2002
I Love Lucy is the greatest sit-com ever. So much of what was pioneered on this show was adopted by the rest of the television industry. Everything from the three camera filming technique to the basic story design and plot structure of a sit-com originated here. There was tremendous chemistry between the cast members, the writing was tremendous,(and done primarily by the same three people throughout the course of the entire series, and Lucille Ball was probably the greatest physical comedian there ever was. When you add in the flawless and unsung work of Vivian Vance and the great supporting work of Desi Arnaz and William Frawley you have something sublime. And if you question whether I Love Lucy was that influential think of all of the various sit-coms over the years that have borrowed from it. The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Mothers-Inlaw, All in the Family, Laverne & Shirley, Cheers, Perfect Strangers, and even Seinfeld have all had moments that borrowed from or paid homage to I Love Lucy.
Tootie_Rox 01/01/2002
Times change, but it's still just as funny! I love lucy... I watch her show everyday on TV Land!
LucyLover88 11/18/2001
I'm 14 and I can remember when I was like 4 or 5 laying in bed at night with my mom (after a considerable amount of begging) to stay up and watch Lucy, the addicting red-head. Every thing she did when I was little was hilarious to me. 10 years later, guess what, it still is! A few of my favorites would HAVE to be the "Vit-a-Meat-a-Vegamin" episode ("...do you pop out at parties? Are you un-poopular?") and the episode where Lucy and Ethel dress up as aliens and appear on top of the Empire State building ("It's a moo-moo"). These are classic! As is Lucy. I have read so many books on this amazing lady, and believe me, once you read her background, it's all you think about when you watch. For instance, Fred and Ethel (Willam Frawley and Vivian Vance) really hated each other. Lucy and Desi loved each other, but towards the end of the show, they began to grow irritated, though you would never know by watching the show. They were such great actors with an incredible talent that kept America laughing even now. Thank you Lucy and Ricky, you will forever remain a part of my childhood, and I know a part of many others as well.

THE BEST TV SHOW EVER!!!!! THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS SHOW. I LOVE LUCY ROCKS!!!!!
ellajedlicka21 11/01/2001
This is a great show. It is the oldest show that I find comical. It is pretty funny to see the schemes that Lucy forces Ethel into in the shows. It is also a small look into New York City life in the '50s.
dweamer 11/01/2001
Truly, nothing is better!!!!!
Thien 11/01/2001
A true classic!!!!! Lucille Ball is the one and only "Queen of Comedy" and no one can compare to her. "I Love Lucy" is very very funny!! This show has been aired for 50 years, and we should understand why. Happy 50th Anniversary to "I Love Lucy"!!!!!
sexymeow 10/31/2001
I just love I love lucy!!! Lucille Ball is a wonderful actor. She dose her parts very enthusiasticly! she is good in dramatic, comedy. and I bet you didn't know this - Lucy- (luciall Ball) and lucy's husband ( Desi Amaz) in real life- They hated each other- but when they are on the the screen- You'd never guess. Toodles! (God Bless America) Toodles!
Kara-Liane 10/29/2001
I Love Lucy is and has been my favorite show for as long as I can remember.I remember when I was real young and would get up in the middle of the night to watch it. I don't know how people can choose a favorite episode. I sure can't, they're all so funny. I don't think if Lucy hadn't kept insisting that Desi play her husband the show would be nearly as good as it is. I just wish her other sitcoms would have been as successful as I Love Lucy. Especially The Lucy Show. It probably would have been as good if Desi was in it, but, then again, if he was, they wouldn't have stopped I Love Lucy.
ThePatriotfan 10/19/2001
I have loved this show & her ever since I was a little girl, & I still do. I just think she is soo funny. I mean the show doesnt use swearing or sex to make the show funny, like a lot of shows do now. I mean Im not saying all shows today are bad & like that, but it seems like a lot of humor now, uses sex & swearing as a base for comedy. Yes, it is sorta like "corny" humor, but you have to remember, it was the 50s, & also its a show your kids can watch & you dont have to worry about them seeing anything bad. I think Lucy is one of the best shows & will always be a classic. :)

I am one of the few that didn't love Lucy. I don't understand all the love for this show.

Lucille Ball + Desi Arnaz + Vivan Vance + William Frawley = THE GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME!!!! 'I Love Lucy' - "It isn't just a title"
powerfulpinky 07/02/2001
This is a classic! It paved the way for all TV Shows! It can always make me laugh and it is extremly well written and is made up of an extremly talented cast!
Princess8110 07/01/2001
Lucille Ball, her co-stars, and I Love Lucy itself..all put together created something that I don't think could ever be remade, topped, overlooked, or forgotten.
shaynas_mom 06/07/2001
There has never been, nor will there ever be, anything like it. What a woman. We had no choice but to watch Desi, because personally I thought he was kinda corny, and I could never stand his singing voice, although his band was pretty hot. I don't know why they called Ethel fat even at the beginning, because if you look at her in the earlier shows, she wasn't fat at all and in fact was built pretty darned good. When I was a child I wanted to stand leaning on a mantle with one of those long skirts with long pants underneath (what WAS that look, anyway?), smoking languidly with eyes half closed. Now that to me was the epitome of fifties glamour. I remember when I lived in California for a three year period, and saw the Brown Derby before they got rid of it...all I could think of was William Holden and a Cobb salad. I don't know my favorite episode. The son got on my nerves a bit. Fred was the grouch of life, and as I grew older, I really couldn't stand him. I think I just liked the females on the show, truthfully, and of course the guest stars. But the show itself was and is genius.
kissmerichard 05/21/2001
This is my all time favorite show! I've seen every episode at least three times and never grow tired of them. Classic comedy!
Molfan 05/05/2001
This is really about a 4.5. I like the show a lot even though I got to know the characters enough to be predictable.Like any show some of the shows are funnier than others.Of course some of the episodes are classics. Lucy was the "ditzy" redhead always scheming to get into show business or some way to make money.Ricky her cuban husband who is a bandleader. Fred and Ethyl their friends. Ethyl often gettting drawn into Lucy's schemes. I still liking watching this show. Lucille Ball is still one of the best comedians around. Even if some of the shows are too farfetched. I can watch the show with the family and not be embarrased.
Moviefan 04/25/2001
I can't believe "Three's Company" is higher up on this list than "I Love Lucy" The fact that you can say "Grape Stomping" or "John Wayne's Footprints" and people will know what you're talking aobut tells you what a huge impact this show had on tv and on America. It's not sophisticated, granted, but it is one of the greatest, and when you mention fifties tv, people automatically think of Lucy. That show had so many memorable moments, things that make me laugh so hysterically, I can't believe other people don't feel the same, but they like "Three's Company" I agree, though, that Little Ricky is extremely annoying, but most of the time he was conveniently at Mrs. Trumbull's. :-) This show was the model for almost all comedies that came after it, and there's a good reason it's never been off the air. It's not the golden age of tv for nothing!
callmetootie 04/04/2001
I Love Lucy is a very outdated sitcom, but it is still extremly likeable and funny. Lucille Ball is one hell of a lady, and Desi Arnez was a good actor. William Frawley and Vivian Vance I think were a great team together, although Fred got kind of boring near the end of the series. The one thing I didn't care for about Lucy was that we were introduced to characters and then they were dropped from the series. Like that lady upstairs, or that doorman who showed up mysteriously at the end of the series???
KRAMNOR 03/19/2001
IS THERE A HIGHER MARK THAN 5? THIS IS THE BEST! THE BEST CASTING, THE BEST WRITERS! DESERVEDLY A LOT OF CREDIT GOES TO LUCY, BUT NOT ENOUGH CREDIT GOES TO DESI. TO ME THE MOST IMPORTANT MEMBER OF THE CAST.
