I think this by far the best TV show. I can watch rerun after rerun.

The earlier years were way better then the present, but the plots have grown more grpahic, which does build some good emotions throughout the series. The acting has turned by unbeliavble to dull, and the scripts have turned from moderatly exciting, to fair. To be honest, I can watch an episode of Law and Order...not to say whether I will enjoy it or not.

This show is the best!! It still is fantastic after over eleven years on!! Keep up the good work.

personally, it's the best drama show I've ever seen on TV. the cast is great. and one good thing about this series is, you don't have to know much about its history to watch the show. you can just tune in each week and understand the story. the show is intense and thought-provoking. very well done and well put together

I love this show! See, I like all of the L&O series-- "Special Victims Unit," "Criminal Intent," and normal L&O. "L&O: SVU" is my favorite!

Excellent show.

Ben Bratt is Hott....the actors/actresses all have good chemistry, but Alex Cabot can't act.

It takes a lot for me to become interested in a weekly drama. By the end of the day my brain is tired and by about 9 p.m. most evenings, my attention span has diminished to the point that I can usually only tolerate a couple of sitcoms or a predictable old movie. So, it was only by accident and in re-run form did I discover this excellent crime/legal drama. Casting is one of the strong points here and "Law and Order" has not only survived several changes in cast members but I believe has flourished and remained dynamic because of them. The writing is also very well done, as is the interaction between law enforcement and the attorneys. One important note; the first five or ten minutes in this show is crucial to your viewing enjoyment. In other words, if you miss the crime - the rest is a waste of time.

Very realistic

Law in Order is the best show I have been keeping up with almost six day a week. I am a true fan. I catch the reruns on A&E. I watch the old one's because I really started watching the program about three or four years ago. I think there has been great actors taking on some very good roles. I think Sam Walterson is a great actor and I think he has the hardness, style, experience, and talent to play the D.A and has done a great job. However there have been several Assistant D.A's (A.D.A), the Black guy(Robinett) who left the show but did come back on a later to show to defend a client. Then there was the first lady A.D.A who was killed in a car accident while driving Leny home because he was drunk. I personally think that was the actress Jack's character would have fallen for but she died so nothing ever happened. Then there was Jamie who left because she had to take care of her kids plus she was engaged I think, she came back to the show twice to defend clients. Now there's Abby who is leaving this season. I'm wondering will the next A.D.A will be a man or a woman. As far as the law goes I think Lenny is getting really old, not to say he's not a good actor/detective, but I think a fresh face is an order. I was alittle upset when Ben Bratt left the show, but life goes on. The new guy is cool. I like Noth's character, and Paul Sorvino, and the character Max. I think they are great detectives. I like the spin off S.P.U. Any way's I'm sorry I went off on a tangent but I love this show. I made it a ritual to come home and watch the show almost twice a day. I don't mind if they are reruns, someone must enjoy the show, they wouldn't play the reruns if people aren't watching Right?

Still a classic

On top of being a great show with realistic storylines, what I like most about Law and Order is Abbie Carmichael played by Angie Harmon. I think Angie is one of the sexiest women on television. She reminds me of a young Ali McGraw. L&O just won't be the same when she leaves.
Alana 05/08/2001
I LOVE this show! Especially Jerry Orbach, he's drop dead gorgeous! The best actor around!!!! Law & Order is one of the only quality shows on tv now a days and worthy of being watched. I love how they have the show in two parts, it makes things so much more interesting. You get to see both parts of the crime, but personally l love the first part when they show the crimes, basically because of Det. Briscoe, l don't like the show quite as much when he's not on. But the show is ASWEOME and l hope it stays on tv for a very, very long time.

Still the best viewing ever. Have watched it since the first show. Love those marathon reruns. And tell "Lenny" we love him here in Jacksonville, Florida!!
Dino 04/01/2001
The new series is not comparable. Do not like the new black detective-oh for the days of Chris Noth. He was so good with Jerry Orbach.
alison1169 03/10/2001
By far the classiest show on TV. The show protrays great wit and charm. The show is consistant with producing in depth shows everytime.
darcie_51 02/27/2001
Consistantly one of the best dramas on TV. Even the cast changes do not effect the quality of this show. Keep it on forever!

I have a question, I am doing a Research Paper and it is on the show Law and Order. My question to anyone is What changes and influences and racial attitudes have you seen if any on Law and Order through the years.

Greatest Show on TV.

The second I turn it on I am glued to the set....Wonderful show!!
dadams 01/15/2001
Could they actually let Angie Harmon's character try a case sometimes? Tired of the old guy.
Katharine 01/06/2001
L&O is the best courtroom drama (next to The Practice) that there is out there! I love all of the characters, and the story lines are great. I like the fact that the show is based on the case, not the personal lives of the attorneys and investigators.
big tam 01/01/2001
SHOW IS VERY GOOD! IT HAS GOOD ACTION AND IS VERY WELL WRITTEN.
anduarto 12/27/2000
Some good story lines and interesting ethical questions but it suffers from some of the same posturing as NYPD but the dialogues not as good. Jerry Orbach and partners' back and forth often comes off like a bad Sam Spade movie and Sam Waterson's increasingly histrionic impersonation of the great american actor is downright painful.
LILIRISHGIRL 12/12/2000
HIP HIP HOORAY.....
Music.76.20 12/11/2000
An excellent program depicting the interaction between judges and attorneys, both for the plaintiff and defendant. This show displays active, real life scenes.

I love this show. It is so realistic. It really catches my eye because I want to be a lawyer. I could really use some of the pointers they give me when I become a lawyer.
law&orderfreak 11/26/2000
After being on this earth for nearly 3 decades I have never, and never will, find a better show than Law & Order!!! The actors are truly actors, not models trying to act and the writers must have magical pens. The directors and producers are in a category of their own. All in all, when you put together a group of people who are passionate about their work you can't help but come out with an award winning show. And I personally believe that this show should easily walk off with every Emmy available to them. I only wish that I could be part of such an exemplary team! A toast to the network's decision to keep the show on the air at least until 2005 (and hopefully forever) Goodluck guys!!! From Law & Order's truly #1 fan, John.
baker 11/24/2000
I feel Law & Order is on of the best TV shows on. It is creative in having the first part police and the last part the lawyers. It is creative and educational at the same time. It also has great actors.
Sunshine2 11/16/2000
Great show. Shows us some of the complexities of our legal system. Gives us an idea of how one section of our judicial system interacts with another, i.e. police and district attorneys.
KitKat 11/16/2000
This is one of the few watchable shows on television. There is an example of real police drama exceeded on this show. Even the cast is in sync with each other. It has been on for many years and continues to show new twists on story lines. If you are looking for a real drama that expresses current events, this is a good show to watch.
Lulu 11/07/2000
Though the show hasn't quite been the same since Chris Noth left the cast, this is one of the best TV dramas out there. It is well written and acted, and it has a very realisitic feel to it. Great stuff!
curley jones 10/11/2000
i luv the show even the re-runs
entitea 10/10/2000
Used to love it, it's gone way downhill over the years.
upchuck 09/15/2000
I enjoy this show every week, the actors all do a good job and I like where it is broken into two parts,,,the crime scene, then the court room...I also think the assistant district attorney (Harmon) is exceptionaly attractive.
soin9962et 08/20/2000
I miss a lot of the older cast members...

Good TV Cops & "Bad Guys" show. Sam Waterston, good actor because I really HATE the character he portrays!
kaat5793om 04/07/2000
This show has gradually shifted over its 10 year run from being a descendent of "Police Story" and "Hill Street Blues" to a button-down, formalized detective series("Columbo," without the eccentricities.) Its plot-driven storylines have taken their tolls on some characters (S.Epatha Merkerson and Jerry Orbach particularly, who seem to occassionally mail performances in) but the clinching final minutes (always punctuated by a rising music creschendo) also pay off in the end. Still a grade-A steak, but may seem some tenderizing.
pmla4027et 02/07/2000
This show is more "real" then many cop/lawyer shows previously seen. Always riviting!!

Law and Order is so great. After all these years, it hasn't lost a step - it only gets better.

Law & Order is great because it is such high drama.. p.s. What happened to 'Homicide'?

This use to be a great show but now they are trying to be to much and forgetting that they are entertainment.
rmta2368om 12/02/1999
The most recent episode featured a legal issue that showed up the next day in my newspaper. This show is always thoughtful and engrossing. Adding Jesse L. Martin to the cast was a terrific move.
