SummerLeisure 02/04/2004
One of the most groundbreaking television shows for bringing science fiction into reality. Great special effects, amazing chemistry between characters, and a plot that keeps you coming back for more!
tvtator 11/02/2003
This show will go down as one of the best and most influential and groundbreaking shows on television.

Cancelled? I didn't even notice but it's about bloody time! I liked the show a lot back in the day but they shoulda cancelled when David left in the first place. Although Aryan Dan makes a good point about Duchovny's leaving and then coming back and then leaving and then coming back. It's a shame that after all those years he hadn't developed any sentimental attachment to the show, at least enough to finish the eighth season the way Carter had planned.
ElvesBrew 09/10/2003
Amazing show. Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, even Robert Patrick all get my best wishes for bringing together one of the best, if not THE best, show to ever air and 9 years of "I want to believe".
StanUzbeck 08/28/2003
Had some interesting ideas, but the rest are a little insulting - mostly those involving conspiracies and government coverups. This is just more elitist shite for people who think of themselves as intellectual. It is intellectual porn, actually. If they were really so educated and intelligent, they would not be searching for stimulation on the television. Television is a device made to distract people from thinking for awhile. Any show that has its own conventions where fans may congregate and get the autograph of some schlep who played so-and-so on epidode #90 and take turns giving their conceited interpretations of the most trivial of plot conventions is nothing more than elitist pornographic crap. And I hate the practice of calling someone the "thinking man's" anything. Eg. Scully is the "thinking man's tart". As if not finding her attractive means that one is somehow more shallow, and only concerned with the physical. You bloody snobs.
alty6905 08/17/2003
I enjoyed most episodes of this show but some were too slow.
xxTonixx 08/08/2003
This has got to be the best show of all time! Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have paved the way for shows such as Buffy and Angel. Without the X-Files, no one would have thought of making a TV show about the paranormal, and look how many there are today. Without a doubt, this programme is total genius, and nothing can quite match up to it.

The early stuff--great. The later stuff-starting to wear thin. Season 3-4 was peak. The last two I could barely watch. Never did quite figure out the fabled mythology of this series, but lets be honest, most watched for the great characters anyway.
Bryght 07/17/2003
Thank God that this waste of TV time is finally over!
ironlaw 07/14/2003
They shoulda left it when they were still making sense.
kahfess 07/11/2003
There have only been a handful of television shows that I have really enjoyed over the years, this being one at the top of the list. I enjoyed this show from the fist time I viewed it, and will miss seeing new ones.
CrisGano 06/14/2003
Absolutly loved this show.
gummocatkilla 05/24/2003
An amazing series with a lot of great years.
watcherJB34 05/24/2003
Great storyline and overall series. How about another movie please! We the fans deserve it.
maggien 05/21/2003
Xfiles started out good but got worse in after it's later season. Would this have happened to John Doe? Too bad FOX didn't let us find out.
emma7of9 05/14/2003
This programme is so cool and the last episode is being screened in New Zealand on Saturday night so I can but I can't wait. X-files kinda went downhill a little bit in season 6-7 but what surprised me was it got better once Robert Patrick started, Like before he started and it was before David Du(Ican't spell his name)left it wasn't scary or anything, it was just dumb, but when Patrick started it got heaps better. And when Annabeth Gish started I thought it got even better. This is ment in no offence to the show writers but I thought it was just lame how in the Sunshine Days episode it was like, oh I we're finishing soon so lets make Scully sad that she didn't get the hard proof abou tthat dude. But MEH I still love the x-files and I don't want to watch it on Saturday night but I have to, I mean it is the last one.
Gami 05/04/2003
This is my most-missed show! It was one-of-a-kind.
kamylienne 04/07/2003
It was a lot of fun at first, it's a shame it went downhill (after Mulder left and got replaced by the new guy, there was just not that dynamic there). It got old and tired, but it was really good at first . . . . it was probably for the best that they cancelled it.
Theatre_Bug_05 02/17/2003
I adored this so. Sad it is no longer on air.
BIGBABY 02/01/2003
I never got into this show. It actually had some potential before the disasterous movie came out. Mulder and Scully weren't great characters. Some of the plots were pretty good, though.
semisonique 12/30/2002
I normally would have rated this series a 5. I loved the series when it first came out and was a loyal watcher for many years. The writing seemed to come unraveled after the movie was released and I started to feel that maybe they should have bowed out on top, with no resolution on the Moulder-Scully romantic tension. In short, an excellent series that should have ended long ago.
LCarlborg 12/10/2002
Good show. I wish it were still on.
suka 11/10/2002
Mulder & Scully ROCK
hoovertbeanhea d 11/04/2002
It got old after a while. I watched a few seasons and thought they were great, but it seemed like they ran out of ideas for the last two seasons. Too bad.
Staci 10/31/2002
X-files was one of my favorite shows, I was very upset when it was cancelled.
REWinder 10/28/2002
The best show of the 90s. Too bad the last two seasons left much to be desired. Seasons 1-7 and the 1998 movie are the core of what made the show so great: Mulder & Scully; the search for Samantha; the conspiracy arc (except for the oil-liens); Cigarette-Smoking Man; the comedy (!!) episodes, esp. in seasons 2, 3, 4, and 6; Mark Snow's excellent scores; stylish, moody lighting and photography; great writing, plot and dialogue; intriguing supporting characters, some of whom died just when you started to like them. The list goes on and on. As of mid-November 2002, the first six seasons and the movie are avaliable on DVD, and by the end of 2003, they should be up to season 8, although I think they can really just go ahead and get it all out on DVD by then, the show's 10th anniversary. (has it really been that long?!)
lynn1978 10/26/2002
it was awsome until david duchovney left the show.
lukskywlkr. 10/24/2002
Our local station didn't show the first season, so I got in on the second one, and even that almost didn't happen. I almost changed the channel but I stayed with it that night, and every week just about for the next several years. That first episode was called "EVE" and I was hooked immediately. It remains one of my favorite episodes along with Chimera, and several others whose names escape me right now. I found, unlike most people that my favorite episodes were the ones that were focused on something besides aliens and u.f.o. abductions. When they gravitated toward that theme more and more I got away from the show a little bit and didn't watch it the last year or so for various reasons. Now that they are putting the entire series on dvd I will probably go back and rediscover it. I highly recommend the first five or six years anyway.
ellebee 10/11/2002
it was a terrific show once upon a time but it gradually unravelled. i will miss the gorgeous mitch pileggi, though. the man with the best shoulders on television. since the lone gunmen got a crack at their own series, why not one for skinner...?
Dixie-mac 10/04/2002
Had a great few years in the begining, han start to god bad, should have ended before movie
pooch26u 07/24/2002
THE OLD X-FILES USE TO BE AWESOME UNTIL THEY STARTED WITH THE NEW ONES
eurydice_jade 07/14/2002
To begin with it was good. It morphed into a worthless mutant-hybrid of its former glory.
thatoneguy 07/14/2002
got tired..

X-files without David Duchovny is like cereal without milk...
daddio1015 07/01/2002
Great Show
KevanSF 06/30/2002
The last two seasons were below standard, or else I would have given this 5 stars.
shud 06/14/2002
the entire 8 seasons = 5 ( that's why I rated it a 5) the last season = 3.5 (still one of tv's most entertaining shows)
AryanDan 06/10/2002
I know I suffer from illusions of grandeur and paranoia, but I used to watch the X-Files just to see the ideas they stole from me. I would talk about aliens on the radio (I'm a call-in freak) and sure enough, the plot followed what I said only with a twist. I won't go into all the details but Aliens ARE responsible for the creation of the Human race. We were made to be God's gardeners (Gen 2:15), not a bad job I suppose. The Aliens are not hideous creatures either, but rather, they are very beautiful beings (remember, we were made in their image (Gen 1:26, "Let Us make man in Our image, and after Our likeness") and we have deteriorated ever since. AND, they are soon to return!!! But, have no fear and don't despair, they will allow us to eat from the Tree of Life (a genetically engineered plant that regenerates the Human body, Rev 22:14). But anyway, back to the show, David left (if you can call it leaving) the X-files for his movie career, which didn't take off like a UFO. Evolution was a unmemorable flop. And what was the name of his other films? His on again off again connection to the show was what really hurt the series. He acts like a little boy, leaving when his head is swollen and then running back when the real world pops his bubble. Grow up Davey! He looked like he actually took pleasure in the fact the show stumbled without him. How could A.D.(Agent Doget) expect to compete with a guy who refused to give it up. Every show after his "departure" referred to 'Molder' as if he were Mohammad. It was clear Fox studios wanted to spin off the X-Files with a new FBI couple, but when the one there refused to leave, the show got bogged down. As for the series finale, it sucked!!! Now, back to the alien takeover that's about to occur, why does every Hollywood version of the big event have to be negative? Is it that Hollywood is programming our response for when it happens? Is the 'star wars' military project really a last resort effort to stop these Angelic beings from re-colonizing Earth? Have the Hebrews recaptured Jerusalem after 2,000 years in order to secure the landing site of the New City of Jerusalem, a gigantic cubed shaped dwelling of God that will be with us humans (Rev 21:3)? The Good News I profess is positive and biblically based, but, beware of the mind controllers who twist the truth to spread fear and mistrust. The Truth Is Out There, and maybe it's even in here.
Joey1963 06/02/2002
A great show that probably should have ended two years ago...but it still can hold my attention after all these years. Will go down as a tv classic.
Ninja_Squirrel 04/17/2002
There were one or two seasons a while back when the focus was on the conspiracy and the acting and writing were at their best (back when Mulder was most charismatic and sarcastic), but then they went back to monster-of-the-week plotlines, the conspiracy created more questions than answers, Mulder left the show, etc. It just got bad.
trickyrikki247 04/06/2002
This is a terrible show! It has a stupid plot, and has absolutly no point.
norelle 04/03/2002
when will this show go off the air!
whitedevil311 03/20/2002
David Duchovny was smart enough to leave this show why can't Fox be smart enough to just cancel it already?
Dern Good 01/31/2002
Sorry folks, but this one jumped the shark (I know, different website) when Xena attacked...nudie-style. Not exactly the classic green-noir psychological suspense of the first six years.
Snoopy 01/19/2002
Very boring, confusing, and disgusting.
Galomorro 11/27/2001
Wish it had continued. Still watch reruns and marathons.
somebody 11/17/2001
this show used to be amazing. season 1-7 were great. it's time for chris carter to care more about making a good show than making money. it's time for him to end it.
crispytomato 11/09/2001
The X-Files is my ultimate favourite show ever. I find it so captivating because people think only the extremely paranoid think a government conspiracy is going on, but the conspiracies uncovered on The X-Files are believable as real because they illustrate a motive, purpose and result for each one. Although I believe David Duchovny helped made the show what it is, I do not believe it will die now that he has left. Gillian Anderson is an EXTREMELY talented actress (also one of my faves) and I will watch with the same excitement as I did when David Duchovny was there. The X-Files has become common language ("Oh, that looks like something off of The X-Files!", even those who have never seen an episode know what it is, and I think that is how you confirm true excellency, although it was there all along.
