By and far my favorite channel--there's typically a very good variety of shows on, and I haven't seen one that I haven't liked yet. Tuesday night's lineup, including Forensic Files and FBI Files, is a lot of fun to watch. It's incredible how investigators DO all this stuff! And then you've got Walking With Dinosaurs and The Ballad of Big Al, to name a few of their computer-enhanced specials which are excellent and incredible to watch! I've liked it as a child, and I still enjoy it! ADDITION: How shallow and pathetically childish is it to rate a channel based on ANOTHER channel's programming decisions? Was East Enders on Discovery? No, because the Discovery Channel focuses on that which is INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING. But I suppose that wouldn't count for much to some obsessive people. God forbid you watch something EDUCATIONAL for a change. It is truly sad when people put down a quality, educational channel because their favorite soap opera was cancelled.

As the owner of BBC America, Discovery is directly accountable for BBC America's recent shabby treatment of once loyal viewers. This diminshes the Discovery Channel from what would have been a four star to a one star rating.
Catboy 11/03/2003
Sorry to intrude but Discovery owns BBC America, the worst channel on TV. "All repeats All the time" and thus must share the blame from BBC America's atrocious customer service. If Discovery wants to buy a channel to make some money, they need to take responsibility for it's content.

hate discovery for taking off eastenders
Izzy_17uk 11/03/2003
2nd worst station on the air and it owns bbc america which is the worst

I enjoy the animal shows the most, but the rest of it I could do without...
absom4 11/02/2003
This was once an interesting channel. It has deteriorated considerably with its emphasis on DIY shows and pseudo science.
misseygold 11/01/2003
Absolutely terrible!!
KatAngel 10/31/2003
Bad programming decisions.
englishrose 10/30/2003
They are part of BBCA who are now the "REPEAT" channel!

Discovery Network has spread itself too thin. Instead of developing quality prgramming on one or two channels they have created a large number of channels that show nothing but reruns of reruns. Their mercenary motives are too obvious. They just want to monopolize as much airspace as possible, invest as little money as possible in developing their programming and air as many commercials as possible. The worst aspect of this is the fact that they cloak themselves with an aura of "educational programming". This is not educational programming. It is cheap programming.

Do we really need more home improvement programs on multiple networks like Discovery?? I know I can do without them and have not watched this network since 9-27-03!
canny_savvy 10/29/2003
I have not watched this channel and do not plan to especially with their distributorship of BBCA and the Americanization of BBC programming. Their entire lineup of channels nor their advertisers are not welcomed in my home.

Too much reality for its own good.

I DON'T LIKE THE FACT THAT YOUR SPONSORING THAT EGYPTIANS WERE WHITE WHEN ILOOK AT TV ALL ISEE IS WHITES PLAYING THERE LITTLE ROLES WE ALL KNOW THAT KING TUT WAS BLACK BUT YOU PERTRAY HIM AS A WHITE LITTLE BOY.ME AND ALL MY FAMILY FEEL OFFENDED BY THIS I HOPE WHEN YOU DO QUEEN NEFERTITI THAT YOU DONT MAKE HER WHITE.BECAUSE IT IS OLAN AS DAY ON THOSE PICTURES SHES BLACK.THAT IS ALLI HAVE TO SAY

I love this channel. They really make learning fun. I enjoyed the three Walking With... documentaries. They have many regular shows like Monster House and Monster Garage, which are really great. All of the specials that they show are very interesting and informative.

Fantastic channel, one of my favorites. The shows on the Discovery channel are very interesting.

There will be a rare night, maybe once a month, when the discovery channel is outstanding. These nights are few and far between. Most of the time the Discovery Channel is little more than average.
Jason1972 01/23/2003
Discovery Channel came along and made it really interesting to learn stuff. I especially like the Wings channel and all of those animal shows.
mikeholly93 01/16/2003
Great Channel! I love their unexplained phenomena, science, archaeology, forensic science, and palaentology shows.
lukskywlkr. 10/24/2002
Excellent channel for watching not only entertaining but educational shows as well. I have seen a great many shows on here about dinosaurs and ancient Egypt and its rulers, and about animals like the Nile River crocodiles. Very fascinating stuff and never boring.
whitedevil311 03/20/2002
Really cool and I don't feel like I'm at school when I watch it.
Galomorro 11/20/2001
Has too many animal programs and not enough other educational content. Too one-sided. I'd like to see a real educational channel where actual school subjects videos from elementary thru college are shown free to all on a non-cable channel.
callmetootie 04/04/2001
The Discovery Channel is dragging behind, in fact way behind. The Travel Channel is doing a lot better then the discovery channel. Some really lousy shows. They used to have some show on that I liked that was hosted by Dudley Moore, but they got rid of it.
reeny 03/26/2001
Extremely informative, innovative, one of the best channels on television. Anything you want to know about nature, science or just about anything dealing with the world can be found on the discovery channel. Wild Discovery is my favorite show on the Discovery channel. The amount of information given on this channel is almost endless, it's a great reference channel.

I wish this channel could replace my geography teacher. I learn more stuff on this channel than I do in class. I always loved animal documentaries. I'm starting to videotape some good shows so I can show my children in the future.
Masaki 12/15/2000
It is a very good channel for everyone from child to older people. It is one of my favorite channels. After watching a program on this channel I talk to my friends about it, and some of them look up to me. Their programs should be shown in school.
kl724 12/14/2000
The science programs are very educational and informative. Good for students of science because much of the information in the programs are up to date. They have futuristic graphics in their programs, which makes the programs more interesting.
Mindy 12/14/2000
This is a very educational but interesting channel that is good for all ages. You can feel good about letting your kids watch and there are good things to discuss afterwards. They cover a large variety of subjects, all of which are valuable knowledge. Their programs are also presented in an interesting manner to peak and maintain interest.
katswt 11/22/2000
I think that this channel is great because I don't always understand boring lectures in class, yet when I watch this channel it is creative and I really do learn things on subjects I thought I'd never learn.
QueenRook 11/22/2000
Discovery channel has great shows. I love learning about science. I have learned many things about desert countries, wild animals, and religions. It is a great way to learn at home. It is also a wonderful way to educate families.
highcee 11/17/2000
A mix of interesting shows all on one channel. Need I say more? I love letting my mind provide the facts about our universe and about ourselves. We and animals are too alike. It boggles the mind.
jdunivan 11/17/2000
I like watching the Animal Nature show. I wish they would show more animal shows. I do like the Discover History show, and the Show Dog show too.
pcow759om 12/02/1999
Great nature shows. Nothing is more exciting than seeing the Amazon or the plains of Africa. Also, the EcoChallenge is killer!
