The absolute WORST TV network!

GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! No music only like at 1 in the morning. They used to play a couple reality shows but now thats all there is. They have a couple new shows. Trailor Faboulis its like pimp my ride but with trailors, give me a break. Also the 70's house which is so stupid. Fuse crushes MTV in comparrison. MTV more like RTV(reality television) or in my opinion CTV(craptelevision) MTV if your not going to play music fine but at least change your name.

This channel sucks big time! Who's the idiot that decided that they are no long playing music videos and started coming up with real crappy show? (Road Rules/ Real World, Cribs, Pimp My Ride, ect.). I'd used to watch this channel several hours a day when I was a teen. Came back when they started showing Death Match and Osbourn. Left when they got canned.

I like MTV but why is there barely any music. There should be more music vidoes and a better variety of them. When you watch the music videos they are always the same no matter what time of day they air.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS CHANNEL??? I miss the days in the late '80s and early '90s when they ACTUALLY played music!!! Now the only time they play music in the middle of the freakin' night. MTV used to be all about music... now it is all about reality crap. I HATE MTV!!!

Boy, they had something great once. Now it's nothing but Real World/Road Rules stuff, Ashlee Simpson, and Room Raiders (which, oddly, is almost interesting). On occasion, you can even catch music on Music TeleVision. Imagine that.

YUCK MTV SUCKS! All you get is these little show things and then top 10 videos and Eminem. gets a little boring.Need to show old videos as well, and make it more common to see videos.

sn't this supposed to be Music Television? Where's the music? When the dropped Headbangers Ball they prettymuch lost me. The only good thing they have left is the Osbournes... which of course just did it's final episode (which sucked).

They should go back to their roots when they were just starting out, until then I'm happy to see this trash near the bottom of this poll!

music telivision mor like reality television it try to atract ages 12-21 but i am 14 and i can not stand there garbage i was not around but from all the things i have heard and seen it seems in the 80s and early 90s they actually put music. most of there reality has nothing to do with music so basicly 95% of there stuff has nothing to do with music. It trys to atract my age group but they think a whole age group are inrested in the same things like we are robots and programed to like reality shows rap cell phones ipods and new hip singers we are all difrent try to attract every body with music because who really does not like music that how you get youre audience not hinking we are all the same.

There are some really good shows on MTV!

Absolute garbage. 90% of it is stupid reality shows centered around either drunken oversexed twentysomething crybabies or untalented pop stars. TRL is a joke---70% of the actual part that is music and not obnoxious teens yelling shoutouts to their stupid friends is mindnumbing hiphop and the rest is either bubblegum pop or some crappy Good Charlotte thing. I pity any teenager who actually watches this drek.

MTV has gone downhill steadily.They used to have some fine concerts,show a wide variety of Music Videos and Liquid TV was cutting edge animation.Now it's worse than going to a party with a bunch of drunken underage teenyboppers.

Don't have alot of use for this channel.They play alot of crap,mostly R&B and Rap rule this channel.

The only things worth watching on MTV are the music video segments. The rest is garbage.

Are you kidding me? MTV used to stand for Music Television. Where has the Music gone? TRL shows 20 seconds at the most of any music video you want to see and all you hear is a bunch of teenage girls screaming. Exactly what I wanted to tune into. Road Rules and Real World have nothing to do with music also. So whats with the 8 hour marathons? If MTV wanted to do TV shows instead of Music they should have created another branch or changed their name. Save yourself the irritation and go watch FUSE.

MTV should change it's name to pctv: pop culture television. They only play homo music now, and there are only stupid shows on now that couldn't have less to do with music. And thanks to them, only clean cut fancy pantsy mainstream artists make it in the music world today, and because of that, one day only the genre of pop will exist. To paraphrase beck: MTV makes me wanna smoke crack!

MTV used to be a great music channel (like BET)until 1992 they decided they wanted to be like NBC and show insipid shows like the real world and Pauly Shore since then they slid down the gutter with no good music whatsoever and their shows suck even more.

I do like MTV, and I especially love alot of their shows...but there is no doubt that the channel rarely shows music anymore. But they will probably never take the M out of the MTV because then know one probably would care about the channel at all at that point. And besides, if you want to watch videos all the time ....go to MTV2...

Don't think you actually get to hear much music these days its all about celebritys and their 'cribs' etc. people tune in for music not info on celebritys!!

Put me in the column of those who remember when MTV used to play music. I'm 24, supposedly in the MTV demographic, but I hardly even watch the channel anymore. I can't stand most of the stuff they put on there. I was a kid during the tail end of the 80's glory years and grew up during the rap explosion, the rise of grunge, and Beavis and Butthead. Yep, those were some good times. What the hell happened? MTV completely sold out and lost their soul at some point in the last few years. If, at my age, I'm running to VH1 Classic for some videos, there's something wrong with that. I'm not saying all the shows they run are terrible. I liked Remote Control, B&B, and more recently Jackass and Punk'd. But stuff like that is few and far between. The other 90% of the time, it's the same garbage over and over again. Maybe I just outgrew MTV, since their demo is supposed to be 12-24. I suggest someone sue MTV for false advertising--since the M really doesn't stand for Music anymore.

The station airs nothing family-friendly, bad music, stinky reality shows, perverted teenage drama/comedies and is simply one of the worst stations on television. Long live TV Land and bye bye Many Terrifying Visions (my acronym for MTV). For example, their mindless Real World program is overflowing with profanity, sexual content and mindless arguments. Their True Life program has no role models. The Osbournes is a true exercize in stupidity. Ironically, now, they play no music (except for the occasional mindless rap video). Did you know at one time this station showed family-friendly, enjoyable shows like The Monkees, and The Partridge Family?

Well it used to be great..now it's terrible. My friend loves the old videos from the 80's, and so do I but where are the Heavy Metal Bands? It seems some where along the way MTV got lost..and why is they used to show all videos and they stil made money? Now it's stupid shows..I wish someone take them completely off the air!

These days, a sucky Music Channel since unfortunately they get too carried away on rock music and sometimes seldom show any Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, or any other pop music. Also, their reality shows and cartoons suck! unfortunately, these days, there are far more dumb boring reality shows and stupid comedies on MTV then here are music videos. They need to cut down on the reality shows and show more music videos, especially bubble gum pop videos by Britney Spears, Willa Ford, Mandy Moore, Christina Aguilera, N'Sync, etc. If MTV shows that Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, and Evanescence junk, I will scream my head off! I would rather watch VH1 because they do more r & b and bubble gum music on there, so MTV, please try to be more appealing to 30-year old men like me and not young 15-22 year old kids by showing more music videos, less crappy non-music shows. It looks like all you see on mtv these days are their stupid boring reality shows such as real world and road rules (which are nothing compared to survivor, bachelor, and fear factor), bevis and buthead, that stupid osbournes show, and lame shows about makeovers. They need to do more music videos and less crappy reality and comedy shows. Perhaps, we should change mtv's name to the crappy reality and comedy channel. If you want music, watch VH1. They play more music videos than MTV and their non-music shows at least pertain to music.

MTV doesn't even live up to it's name anymore. All they show is the same inane B.S. such as The Real World (possible the most annoying shows ever made and I wish they would can it!) and the incredibly boring Th Osbournes. Whatever happened to playing videos 24 hours a day? Listen folks, either get with the program and can these stupid shows once and for all, or you might as well change your name to PCTV (Pop Culture Television). That is all.

I'm sure I could find more valuable content in an abandoned port-a-john. I will admit that I have watched some of the non-music programs over the year (Jackass, Beavis and Butthead), but if you compare those to anything that is running c.2003, there is at least some music contained in the programs. I've bought/downloaded some music after watching a few episodes of Jackass, and B&B used to show clips of videos between episodes. Maybe I should say that B&B showed full-length clips compare to what they show on TRL. The sooner MTV changes it's name (my vote: teenTV) or gets off the air, the better.

MTV supposedly stands for "Music TV," but you'd be hard put to find any music on this channel in the past 15 years. Seems all they run on this inane and totally trivial outlet is stupid game shows, retarded lifestyle/reality programs, idiotic trifles about brain-dead fashion models and other imbecilic celebrities and footage from Spring Break featuring nearly naked young sluts and hos shaking their booties and bouncing their titties. At least the last of those options will grab and hold your attention. Sometimes it's difficult to determine where commercials end and programming begins, and vice versa, on this cable claptrap. Sorta like Saturday morning children's programming. Basically, MTV, which started out as a good idea 20 years ago, has deteriorated into a synthetic, plastic, meaningless and essentially square exercise in boredom aimed at a mentally deficient Younger Generation. How many people out there actually watch this crap?

Man this used to be one great channel; all day rock videos and Beavis and Butthead. What more could you want from tv? But I can't bear to watch this crap now. It's amazing how far downhill a channel can go. First of all they never play music anymore; it's just real world, road rules, cribs, punk'd, diary, making the band, and the horrible list goes on and on. And in the RARE (almost non-existent) occasion that they do decide to play a music video it's almost always rap. Isn't it sad how a network called "Music Television" actually had to create another channel (M2) to play music since they no longer care to. Ridiculous is what it is. And their little MTV news reports and specials are laughable at best. I was especially appalled at their coverage of the war in Iraq; specifically at the special that showed 2 Iraqi teenagers in their every day life in attempt to make the US look like the hunter of a bunch of innocent, loving people. Absolutely shameful. And what really got me was one of those Iraqi bastards said the US deserved to have been attacked on Sept. 11, and rather than demand an explanation for why he would think that, the reporter acted all sypathetic and proud of him. MTV you are a bunch of liberal, anti-American, shameless bastards.
