jim carrey is hilarious. after in living color and his vampire movie this is what made him a star.

Great movie, with some hysterical moments. Jim Carrey is great in this movie. I'd recommend you skip the sequel though.

This movie established Jim Carrey as one of the most hilarious and goofy guys of all time. This movie got me hooked on Jim Carrey and I remember all the kids trying to impersonate his craziness.

The parts that weren't downright stupid were downright nauseating. A waste of Jim Carrey's talent.

This has got to be the funniest movie out there. Jim Carrey his fabulous! What the heck is it doing all the way down at 127???

I think this is a great movie . I have seen this so many times I know it word for word through the whole movie and I can do the fast-talking sequence ( what you wouldn't read about is how ray finkle lost his mind was committed to a mental hospital only to escape and join the police force under the assumed identity of a missing hiker manipulating his way to the top in a diabolical scheme to get even with Dan Marino who he blamed for the entire thing ) faster than Jim Carrey in the movie and yet I still laugh at the jokes. My favourite part is when Ace turns up at Ray Finkles house and says " hi, I'm looking for Ray Finkle " then a shotgun is pointed to is head. He replies " and a clean pair of shorts". And when asked over the phone by Courtney Cox where he is , he says " I'm in Phsychoville and Finkle's the Mayor ". All in all one of Carreys best performances. The sequel was crap.

This movie does get annoying but it makes up with all the lauphs. Jim carry is a great actor. Any charecter yoou give him, he'll make it work.

One clever joke in the entire movie. ONE. And it has to do with another movie's theme song--"The Crying Game" by Boy George. I'm just guessing that Jim Carrey wasn't the one who came up with it, since it is actually funny.

Perfectly wild physical comedy from the master himself. A fun movie and a classic of it's kind.

I thought that this was quite good and funny. Came close to giving it 3 stars though, mainy because it's a bit stupid at times. But mainly, this is a funny, usually intelligent film with lots of animals. Not much goes wrong. The sequel's good too. Summary: A FUNNY, USUALLY INTELLIGENT BUT SOMETIMES STUPID FILM.

I thought this was a real good one. I think it was much "classier" comedy then Austin Powers and some of that newer crap. Jim Carrey did his best in this role.

Ace Ventura is anpther annoying character created by Jim Carrey. Ace Ventura is a pet detective that lives in a sloppy little apartment in Florida. Even an early appearence by Courtney Cox can't save this goofy, confused mess of a movie.

This one was pretty good. It was hilarious but the story itself needed tuning. Slapstick, wacky ass humor is what makes this movie good; not what's actually going on.

Terrible movie, I hated it and can't believe they made a second one. Jim Carrey is loud, obnoxious and not funny, more on the side of exaggerated and gross. I don't like movies that insult my intelligence.

First of all, Jim Carrey playing it straight or the fool has great range in comedy. Great dialogue if you're paying attention- anywhere from slapstick to just talking trash.

It's a very funny thing. Jim Carrey performs very impressively. The whole story is creative. There's a lot of African scenes which are vivid. It's a little bit of crazy comedy.

How can this movie be ranked alongside "Trading Places," "Risky Business," and "This is Spinal Tap"? Those movies are modern classics, while "Ace Ventura" is a mediocre movie that nobody will care about in 10 years.

Jim Carrey's coming out party. Ace Ventura is still a funny movie. And, everyone appreciated Tone Loc's incredible performance.

An excellent wild and extravagant comedy where Jim Carrey is completely insane, but yet a plot still exists.
