I actually have this DVD in my Collection. A funny movie (albeit, full of cheese) and the Special Effects of the time were pretty good.

Cheesy, but an 80's classic. Especially since I was a fan of the cartoon.

Astromike 05/12/2009
This was HUGE for its time. Had a good cast and some special effects.
twansalem 04/10/2009
Ghostbusters is great, but I realize that might be because I grew up with it. I loved just about anything Ghostbusters when I was a kid. Not only did I watch the movies, I watched the cartoons every Saturday morning.

I kinda liked Rick Moranis as the very possessed Louis, aka Vinz Clortho, Keymaster of Gozer.
Kitty77 03/01/2009
Great show, very funny and one of Bill Murray's best. All of the cast was good, too.

Great cartoon and even better movie! Bill Murray stood out in an all star cast. Dan Aykroyd was pretty good too.

Lisa45 06/09/2008
It had it all; comedy, drama, stupidity (marshmallow man), hereos, romance, and a happy ending.
Sabresbabe 06/08/2008
BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!
Manda254 06/07/2008
I said it before, not a huge fan of slime in movies unless we're talking about Ghostbusters. What's not to love about Slimer? and the Stay-Puft marshmallow man was sooo cute!
myspace-369481537 06/02/2008
I race to the TV when this comes on. XD I think that Bill Murray's character is a bit boring, but the events and support characters make this film.
Belinda894 06/02/2008
One of the all time greats

GenghisTheHun 05/31/2008
I think it holds up and the characters work well together in a preposterous plot.

g8rhoo 05/29/2008
Good, but not great. Oddly, I don't even really think of it as a comedy as much as I think of it as a "summer movie"--I remember it came out during the summer and it seemed like the type of movie everyone was supposed to see. I didn't see it then; I had to catch it on TV years later.
Spike65 05/23/2008
Enjoyed this movie when it was released in the 80s it is hard to watch now. The special effects dominate the film and the soundtrack is very much of the era. (Semi-disco?) Bill Murray was just O.K. and the rest of the cast is just O.K.
unclereggie 10/03/2007
Classic! What's not to like?
TJGypsy2 05/03/2005
A cult classic with some wonderful one-liners. I still can't believe that Sigourney Weaver is in this one. Seems like such a far cry from Aliens....Great movie.
texasyankee 04/24/2005
I liked this movie. It had a decent plot for a funny movie, which is often a rare thing in a good comedy.
Maomania 02/27/2005
A funny movie considering it is from the 80's. Now I am just looking back I'm like that wasn't that great but I loved it as a kid.
Djahuti 12/27/2004
This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.I never understood its popularity.Might appeal to 5th graders,or adults with zero sophistication.
ANSGARD 06/08/2004
i loved ghostbusters movies... lovely
Redoedo 03/26/2004
I loved this movie when I was younger and watched it religiously, which is why I must give it four stars. Now that I'm older I really don't appreciate it as much or find it nearly as entertaining as I once did, but the film sticks out as one of the favorites of my pre-teen years.
irishgit 12/24/2003
Good fun, well written and acted. The sequel is weaker, but still worth a look.
VirileVagabond 12/17/2003
The top grossing film of 1984, Ghostbusters (directed by Ivan Reitman) was a nice mix of child and adult comedy. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson are paranormal investigators (or ghostbusters) in New York City. The quartet capture ghouls, ghosts and other goblins in portable containers and keep them permanently secured at the office which is held down by their secretary (Annie Potts) until an unbeliever shuts off the power releasing the carnage back on the city. All this is just a prelude to the big showdown with Gozer the demon who has taken over a building and two of its tenants, Murray's love interest played by Sigourney Weaver and the resident pathetic CPA (Rick Moranis). What makes this film work is the chemistry between Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis as they counter balance each other's personalities. Moranis was perfectly cast as well. Moreover, the comedy still holds up today as do the special effects. My only complaint is that the addition of Ernie Hudson felt forced as if the producers decided halfway through the movie to add an African-American actor. The bottom line is that Ghostbusters remains a funny film even after almost 20 years.

Original and funny. Bill Murray and Dan Akaroid (did I spell that right?) rock! Love the fact that the evil monster at the end is a marshmallow guy.
