This movie was pretty good. I especially liked the Bob Barker cameo. ("The price is wrong, bitch!")

Adam Sandler is an aquired taste and most of his movies are pretty hard to watch. He is very well cast in this film and entirely believable while battling with the stuffiness of the game of golf. The actor who played the golf pro he was always clashing with was perfect as well. The whole sweet grandma thing got old fast though. Totally implausible story but funny anyway. Well worth a rental.

A classic comedy! Very funny. Adam Sandler is a very funny guy! I love this movie.

What a golden age that was: Adam Sandler was at his height and everything he did we thought was hilarious. it was like listening to your best friend in high school, but someone decided to record it. Happy Gilmore is definetly in my library of "Stoner Classics"
cyqing 11/10/2007
hilarious
irishgit 08/24/2007
The best movie Adam Sandler ever made. Which means it's just bad, not utterly bloody awful.
twansalem 04/12/2007
Adam Sandler at his best, when his stuff was still fairly original, and well before he started to make more serious movies (The first few times I saw the previews for Spanglish I wondered who the Adam Sandler look-a-like was).
Loerke 02/13/2007
The lone gem in the theatrical legacy of Adam Sandler. In this movie he's genuinely innocent rather than annoyingly infantile. His anxious refusal to be known as a golfer, which he sees as effeminate, always cracks me up. So his hostility and aggressiveness are hilariously compensatory. "If I caught myself wearing clothes like that, I'd have to kick my own ass!" Awesome.
crhayes7 02/02/2006
hilarious especially when ever he got pissed off at the ball when it wouldn't go in. Or when he beat the crap out of the guy becuase the ball wouldn't go in the hole he was tryin' but it just wouldn't go in. or when him and bob barker got into a fight and uttered those words that i think everyone wanted to say. -the price is wrong B***H-

I don't think Adam Sandler has put out a bad movie yet....oh wait, yes he has. It was called 50 First Dates.
Djahuti 01/16/2006
Pretty funny and I usually don't care for Adam Sandlers movies.

4.5. I hate golf but I love this movie! I was laughing at Sandler when he got toughened up by getting hit with fast balls. Rock on, Sandler
LanceRoxas 11/19/2004
Adam Sandler's best movie. It's especially funny for any former football or baseball player who's taken up golf as a weekend hobby. doin the bull dance... feelin the flow

Happy Gilmore is probably one of Sandler's better movies, but most of his laughs came from foul language and physical violence.
Redoedo 03/26/2004
A decent flick, and one of Sandler's better films. However, it's certainly not a very good film to watch if you're looking for golf pointers.
Hardwire 02/16/2004
It is not funny by any means. I gave it two stars because the really big guy that threatens Shooter is kind of funny. Other than that, terrible trash.
forgotten hero 11/16/2003
Adam Sandler is a very funny man. I didn't expect to see a scene where Bob Barker would kick Sandler's ass.
riker32 11/04/2003
2nd only to Caddyshack.

Adam Sandler is hilarious and I loved this movie! My favorite scenes have to be when he was singing into the intercom that went to the outside of his apartment "I wanna kiss you all over" and the old Chinese lady came up and you think that is funny but then they show him running out the next morning and she is wearing his shirt and says "Hey you don't want breakfast?!" then you think GROSS! Also when he sends his grandmother to a retirement home and Ben Stiller plays the man in charge of the retirement home and he makes the grandmother's sew quilts so he can sell them!!!
kolby1973 09/04/2003
This is definately Adam Sandler's best movie to date. I have wore out to VHS copies, and am working on wearing out my new DVD of this movie. If only Adam could still accomplish this great of a movie..sighs.

Not Adam Sandlers best movie...but funny

adam sandler!
ClassicTVFan47 12/19/2002
Aside from the ever-gleeful sight of seeing Adam Sandler decked by a man who knows family-friendly entertainment (Go, Bob Barker, legendary host of Price is Right!) or decked by anyone for that matter, this is yet another R-rated golf comedy that does know wrong and does no right. Avoid at all costs, except the scene where the stupid Sandler decked, of course.

Bow to Happy!!!

I watched this movie expecting to be bored out of my mind, but to my surprise, I could not stop laughing! My preconception of the movie was that I wouldn't enjoy watching it because it centers around golf (I am not a golf fan), but I found it to be one of the most hilarious movies I have ever seen...you don't have to be a golf "know-it-all" to like it. My favorite scene is the fist fight between Bob Barker and Happy...it is one the funniest scenes in comedy-movie history; it's definitely a classic. Anyways, a real funny movie starring a real funny guy...fun to watch over and over again for some laughs!
raincat 10/20/2001
I resisted watching this movie for so long mostly because of the title. I just thought it would be a really dumb unfunny picture. But after Big Daddy I was eager to see Adam Sandler's other movies, so I finally watched Happy Gilmore. I admit I was wrong! Never judge a book by its cover or a movie by its title I guess. Happy Gilmore is funny, fast-paced and good fun. There is even a hilarious scene with Bob Barker of the Price is Right.
Chaotician23 10/09/2001
This is really funy.....beest golf show
Iamopinionated 08/26/2001
I really liked this movie. Unfortunately it's only funny the first time. But the first time you see it, you'll be aching with laughter.
Joey 333 07/31/2001
I really don't think Adam Sandler's that funny. He's too slapstick! Gimme Shaun Micallef any day - he's got wit, not just silly voices.
critic2005 06/10/2001
I do not like golf or hockey, and I'm not a fan of Adam Sandler. Nevertheless, I still thoroughly enjoyed this movie. There were few sexual references, although the language was a bit harsh. I think that it says a lot about the main character (Happy Gilmore), that he did something that he did not want to do to help his family. It was a comedy with character, and compoletely deserving of my five stars!
H C B BAGGINS 06/08/2001
I love this movie, It's the best comedy. Adam Sandler is the greatest.
callmetootie 04/11/2001
I was really annoyed of Adam in this movie, and I don't know why. He seemed comfortable in his role, but he was just so unfunny and annoying in this. I couldn't stand him.
Hayley 01/28/2001
This is one of my favourite movies. Adam Sandler has done a great job with this movie. I've probably seen this a million times and it still makes me laugh.
Princess27 01/13/2001
Adam is the best.
Zarbon 01/01/2001
This is a really good movie, but it just doesn't fit in together good. Also some of the scenes seemed like they were just pieces of sketch comedy and they didn't go along with the rest of the story (like the senior citizens playing kick ball; that scene isn't in every edition of the movie) it's these type of scenes and short/dumb jokes that need to be taken out and changed around to make this a really great movie. But the movie itself is hilarious and one of my favorates. Also in the movie is Bob Barker, Kevin Knealon, and Ben Stiller.
phcheer1 01/01/2001
this movie is soo funny! i could watch it over and over again and not get tired of it. if u havent seen it yet, YOU HAVE TO RENT IT!!!!
joe love 12/24/2000
THIS IS ONE OF ADAM SANDLERS GREATEST YET AND ALWAYS WILL BE TO ME. EVERY SCENE REMAINS CLEAR IN MY MIND AND IT STILL MAKES ME LAUGH EVEN THOUGH I'V ESEEN IT YEARS AGO.
Boonta23 11/22/2000
LOL I am still laughing after just seeing Happy Gilmore. I love this movie. All of the jokes were hilarious. Adam Sandler did a great job. Happy tries to save his Grandma's house and complains that see's old. And Happy goes and joins the tour and everyone should step right up and see if you can outdrive this golf club whacker guy.
