This has always been one of my favorite movies! I love the 80s and Molly. Some of the movie is kind of annoying, but it is a perfect teen movie!

Released in 1984, director and screenwriter John Hughes brought the world Sixteen Candles which works as a time capsule for the Big 80's highschool scene. For the uninitiated, the film follows the tribulations of Samantha (Molly Ringwald) the average sophomore who has grown weary of the attentions of boys her age and pines for the school hunk (Michael Schoeffling). To make matters worse, her family has forgotten her sixteenth birthday since they are busy with her sister's wedding preparations. The movie is filled with colorful characters which reflect adolescence, clothes and music of the period, including appearances by Anthony Michael Hall as the irrepressible geek, Joan Cusack, John Cusack, Jami Gertz, and Gedde Watanabe as the Asian exchange student Long Duk Dong. The bottom line is that Sixteen Candles is a period film which remains funny and applicable today notwithstanding the period clothes and music (which remains classic).

Making fun of Chinese and Black people does not make a good movie!

Molly Ringwald is the queen of 1980's films. She was great in The Breakfast Club, and did well in Pretty In Pink. Sixteen Candles was a comedy classic among them all. Her and Anthony Michael Hall are so funny together, and that chinese kid was a riot.

This is one of those movies that I can watch over and over again. It's a great movie, especially for a teenager. Not exactly 5 STAR HILARIOUSLY FUNNY but it's more than a comedy. As a movie in general it's one of the best.

Although this movie has all the stereotypes of jock, nerd, prom queen it's still awesome because of the plot and the jokes. The overacted characters are still able to identify with.

I wanted to be Molly Ringwald (Samantha in the movie) in this movie. Oh, and Jake, he was so cute. The sophmore girl wins over the popular seniors heart as he dumps his oh so popular, hot girlfriend for Samantha. I have seen this movie (not exaggerating) approximately 200 times and I still love it. There are so many funny parts. Everyone plays their part perfectly. Anthoney Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald, Matt Dillon are some big names but then there is the classic Long Duck Dong and the brother who says one of the best lines in the movie....'Sofa city sweetheart'. Just thinking about it makes me hope that it is on USA or some other tv station this weekend.

This is a classic movie from the 1980's set of Molly Ringwald films. Anthoney Michael Hall plays a great role. Very humorous.

This movie protrays the life and love of a young girl turning Sixteen. It is so well done, that even today young girls are sure to relate to the character Molly Ringwald plays, despite her total 80s outfits. There are great one liners and a soundtrack that screams 80s.
