I thought he was an honest man before I heard about his support for the Iraq war. How could he possibly think that America's invasion could possibly bring Muslims to Jesus? Here is my question: When Graham gives his invitation to come forward to "come to Christ" as he puts it; have you ever heard Graham ask people to hear and believe the gospel, that is, the good news of their eternal salvation that Christ has provided for them?? Have you ever heard Graham give an invitation to receive complete forgiveness of all their sins and new and eternal life with Christ?? Although you may have heard Graham talk about Christ's saving work, I doubt you have heard it in his invitation at the end of his crusade sermons. You most likely heard Graham say something like: "you need to commit your life to Christ" or "you need to come forward and receive Christ" or "you need to give your heart or life to Christ". That all sounds good and what all of us should do, but that is NOT the gospel that saves and NOT the gospel that is to be preached. Of eternal and crutial importance is for people to receive everlasting life by accepting the good news of their salvation by faith--by believing Christ has saved them unto eternal life. I think the reason that Graham does not present the true gospel that saves is that he wants this broad, generic vanilla appeal in order to change the world through this "committment to Christ". And then he can sort of send people back to their denominations (liberal, and in some cases unbelieving denominations). In the case of Catholics, all it amounts to is getting non-practicing Catholics back into their church and its messed up doctrines. Those who want to celebrate Graham as this great evangelist and God's man, they should take a good look at what the Apostle Paul has to say about preachers and teachers who are trying to bring people to Christ with anything other than believing the finished, saving work of Christ. (See 1 Cor 15:1-4; Gal 1:6-9)

I have not watched one of his tele-programs in more than a decade, yet I respect him for running the race that apostle Paul spoke of in 1 Corinthians 9:24 and Hebrews 12:1. He has definitely used a gift wisely. Although I don't have all the facts, I have also heard that he embraces Catholicism, calls the Pope a good person and loves him, and even has Freemason friends. Easy believism, you say aDios? It should be easy, because the Lord Jesus Christ has done it all for us and paid it all for us. All a person can do is believe that Christ has done everything necessary to save us unto eternal life. And He offers all this as a free gift. All we can do is believe it and thus receive this gift. And this is what Billy Graham is preaching. I don't recall his exact words from a crucade from many years ago, but I remember Billy Graham saying the following: I am not going to Heaven because of anything I have done: I am going to Heaven because of what Jesus Christ has done for me. Now, if this is what is called easy believism, I'll take it and stake my eternal destiny on it, because the only alternative it the adding of our works as a condition for salvation. And that seems to be what those who are pointing the finger of accusation about easy believism. They are saying that something more is necessary for salvation beyond simply believing/trusting that Jesus Christ has saved you.

I no longer claim affiliation with the Baptist church, but as the daughter of a Southern Baptist Preacher I can tell you, Billy Graham is the real deal. In my opinion, most TV Evangelists are the used car salesmen of preachers. I don't agree with Rev. Graham's teachings, but he does practice what he preaches and that I respect.

I was not aware that there were so many of these well known clowns so I picked the one that Im familiar with. I have the same opinion of all evangelists. They are actors in the business of God which makes them worthless. I dont think I ever remember God charging to spread his word. Im aware that it takes money to keep houses of God going, I dont have a problem with passing around the 'collection plate', but this crap goes way beyond that. Its a joke. Basically praying on the ignorant to make money. All the screaming and sweating and chanting and fake curing etc....they are not a lot better than snake charmers in better suits. I dont want to down all non denominational churches but this is usually what you find in them in my experience. Just the fact that your putting church on tv is enough to disturb me. Hell, now even the Catholics are doing it. Religion on the whole is a touchy thing. While we all need it for peace of mind I think it should be kept private. Your relationship with God is yours and nobody elses. That is what stopped me from going to church almost completely except for xmas and Easter. Much to the dismay of my very devout Catholic parents.

I have read Billy's autobiography JUST AS I AM and it is remarkable how God trains His ministers differently. What moved me the most was the chapter on his calling .Billy heard no booming voice and had no startling visions of souls going to Hell it was just a still small voice.Billy has rocked the World for Jesus and been an inspiration to three to four geherations of preachers.Even down to my young generation.I pray that people will learn from Billy and many other preachers and come to Jesus.Billy has been a role model to Reinhard Bonnke, Benny Hinn and many other evangelists including myself his reward is great in heaven.

Billy Graham is the best. He has led millions of people around the world to salvation by preaching the Gospel. He is the most influential evangelist of modern times. Yet he remains an honest and humble man.

Except for the occassional problems with controversy, which has passed him, he is THE best evangelist of all time. He set the bar on Christian evangelism, and even many non-Christians believe that if there was any evangelist that is a man of God, it would be him.
