Great movie. I still can't think the movie was made in 1939. The story is told in an excellent way, especially the civil war period. This movie will be one of my all time favorite.

This is my all time favorite movie! It is sooo well done in every way and can be compared to any movie, even in this era!

For me, it is a good movie, but not a masterpiece. It is above average thanks to Vivien Leigh, her smile, her cold attitude towards Gable. The best scene for me is the one when she wakes up after Gable was drunk and "kindda" rape her . Everything is in her eyes .

Gone With The Wind is one of the best films ever made. Vivian Leigh was the perfect Scarlett O'Hara. It is historically accurate as well. This movie was made 62 years ago. It is timeless. It is loved by millions of people.

This has been one of my favourite movies for years and years :) I've read the book as well, and I think the cast was very well-chosen, the historical account well told, and the story - of course - riveting! This is a true classic, and it's pretty easy to see why!

Only those north of the Mason-Dixon line fail to understand why we Southerner's love this movie. Despite a generation of dispargers, this movie remains one of the greatest of all time. The casting is excellent, the actors are probably the most excellently cast of any movie. The storyline is a little weak, as only the stereotyped southern ninny in Scarlett would fail to see that Rhett has qualities far beyond the wimpy Ashley. I want to give her a good shaking every time I see this movie. The sets and lighting are excellent. A throughly good movie.

Pretty good movie. Being from Georgia I'd love to be able to say it was great but that's not the case. Some of the first 30 minutes were kind of silly and poorly acted.

Probably some of the best casting, costumes, and sets in Hollywood history - not to mention a timeless story. Like "The Wizard of Oz", it's another example of the best Hollywood has ever had or will ever have to offer.

When I finished reading Gone with The Wind I was devestated that it was over. I immediately flipped back to the beginning to remember 'how it used to be'. I was only 14. The movie carried me away once again! It was fate that cast Vivien Leigh as Scarlet, and who else but Clark Gable could have been Rhett Butler?! I felt like shaking Scarlet and yelling, 'it's Rhett you love, can't you see that? HE'S the one! Don't let him go!" 'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!' is one of the best parting lines written.

Gone with the Wind depicts a bygone era of grace and charm of the old south. while the love story was intermixed with the civil war, it shows how women had to be strong to survive. Scarlette was the epitomy of all the grace, charm and slyness of women back then. Her devilish charm won many hearts and I wish for a short time...we could all experience that period of time.

The absolute best movie of all time! I give it more than 5 stars.

I think that the Civil War is an important time in American history. How the book intertwined a love story with the drama of a war is really interesting.

I think that Gone with the Wind is the greatest. Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh are perfect.

I remember seeing my mother closing a book just after she had finished it. Misty-eyed she said to herself, "Now that is a great story!" It was Gone With the Wind. I decided to read the book and I found it great. Then the movie came along as a re-release (back in the early 70's when they still did that sort of thing)The movie wasn't exactly like the book, but it was still a great film experience for me. It was filmed during the height of Hollywood's golden era and there was a perfect character actor for each role. Will that ever happen again? GWTW is an eternal classic and Vivien Leigh deservedly won that best actress Oscar, "As God as my witness...I'll never be hungry again! During the Atlanta fire, I swear I could feel the heat on my face while sitting there in that theatre!

This movie is overrated. It is too long and depicts Scarlett as a sassy women with no backbone.

Although it's very long, this is one of the best movies I've ever seen! The costumes are beautiful and really add alot.

It is a great piece of its' time, Scarlett O'Hara is one of the best heroines on the face of this planet. The way she could control any man, and still protect the love of her life Tara, is great!

Gone with the Wind- great film every time you watch it. I dig Scarlett.
jumjum 09/14/2000
Great movie!!! Even better book!! What was Scarlett thinking when she realized it was Rhett she wanted and not Ashley?
