This is one of the best classical movies of all time. The movie also has excellent morals for children of all ages, and Gene Wilder with his remarkable performance tops it all off.

good movie. Charlie gets the golden ticket and goes to the magnificent chocolate factory. Gene Wilder is wonderful as the eccentric Willy Wonka. Charlie goes there with his grandpa and four other kids and parents. the other kids are obnoxious brats and each suffer a fate that has to do with their most rotten fault. Violet the gumchewing kid eats gum and turns into a blueberry. Mike tv, gets zapped into a tiny self that would fit in a tv etc. The movie gets especially good when they go to the factory. A good fantasy movie.

the colors make me queasy after awhile, but maybe that's just the whole candy theme

Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory is an extremly well done movie, and it deserves so, so much credit. It was touching and funny, and it was just so, so good. Buy it today, and also Gene Wilder....you are such a great actor, and Jack Albertson was an excellent actor too.

A masterpiece that's just a little too strange. It's just too freaky to get the 5th star.

A definate must-have if they put it out on dvd...I can remember being spooked by the scene in the tunnel where they're on the paddle boat...(I was just a wee one when it came out.) I'm in my 30's now and watch it with MY kids every chance I get, they love the Oompla-Loompas, watching Violet Beauregard blow up, and guessing the exact moment when the glass elevator will break through the ceiling. If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it...

One of the few movies from my childhood which I remember with such fondness. Everything that happens inside the factory is completely mesmerizing and leaves memories still vivid many years later. Teaches some good lessons to children but also delights them with the wonders within the factory. The cast is wonderful.

One of my favorite all time movies. Many magical scenes (also many scenes that lead me to believe that Roald Dahl may have been hanging out with Lewis Carroll) I loved it as a kid, every wish fulfilled. The greedy Violet gets hers when she tries the new candy when she was told not to and turns into the huge blueberry "You're turning violet, Violet." The oompa loompas, Charlie and Grandpa so mesmerized by the entire factory. And the wise old Willy Wonka.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is one of my all-time favorite movies. Roald Dahl was a genius when it came to understanding children, and this movie is the ideal combination of magic, mystery, adventure, and fun. Gene Wilder was magnificent as the eccentric Mr. Wonka, and the children who accompanied Charlie into the factory were an absolute riot. I'll never forget the scene where Augustus Gloop falls into the chocolate river and is sucked up into a pipe or the one where Violet Beauregarde turns into a giant blueberry and is rolled off to be de-juiced. In many ways, this movie is very scary for children, but that's part of what makes it so much fun. I make it a point to see this movie at least once a year.

This is a better movie for adults than for children. I think it is a little too scary in some spots for kids. That being said, it is a great movie and a perfect adaptation of the novel, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Gene Wilder is perfectly cast as Wonka and the collection of child actors is wonderful. It's kind of amazing, given the quality of their performances, that they were largely never heard from again.

I watched it not that long ago and it seemed like there were a lot of weird scenes. Sometimes it is a little scary, like when Willy Wonka takes them through that dark tunnel and all these werid things are flashing by. There was even a quick shot of a chicken stuggling. It is pretty weird when you watch it now. You don't notice those things when you are a kid.

Gene Wilder is one spooky dude in this film! Actually the whole thing is pretty frightening, right from the beginning when Charlie is with his four grandparents who all can't get out of the same bed (if memory serves right). Veruca Salt is one of the great annoying characters of all time, and the whole thing is captivating. It would get five stars if it weren't for the fact that it'll cause nightmares for 20% of the kids who see it.

There is a child in all of us and this classic proves it. It remains my movie of choice on rainy weekends. I have never read the book but I know my imagination could not create the magnificant landscaping presented in this film. And there are songs galore that are easy to sing along to. Some scenes may be frightening to a small child -- I still close my eyes during the gondola ride!
