I love Carrie. However, I am disturbed by what she had to go through. Carrie White is a tormented and made fun of high school girl. People throw tampons at her. The walls are spray painted with the nasty words "Carrie White Eats Sh*t!" And no one seems to even care that this girl is being unfairly treated. Not even this girl's mother. Unbeknownst to them, Carrie has telekinesis. Basically, in simpler words, She's going to kill them. And they're going to die a very gory death. What I like about this film is that it does not justify or promote what Carrie or her tormenters do. Every bad thing the characters do come back to haunt them. And unfortunatley, Most of them suffer at the hands of Carrie. But in a way, We can't really blame her. The girl gets viciously abused at home, thrown coffee on, shoved, pelted with tampons, and told to "eat sh*t" every day. So it's no wonder why she strikes back at these ruthless tormentors. It may not be right, but we can sympathize with her for the hell she endured.

Great horror film. Spacek deserved the Best Actress Oscar.

One of the best horror movies ever. The mom is one of the scariest figures in movie history.

"CARRIE" WAS THE FIRST HORROR FILM I EVER SAW AND I STILL THINK,DESPITE IT`S AGE THAT IT IS THE ULTIMATE HORROR SHOCKER IT HAS GOOD DIRECTION,A GREAT CAST AND SOME OF THE GREAT SHOCK MOMENTS IN ALL OF HORROR. IT ALSO HAS ONE OF HORRORS BEST EVER SCORES WRITTEN BY PINO DONAGGIO PLAYING THROUGHOUT. ALL IN ALL UNMISSABLE.....

What a great movie...Sissy Spacek as the confused and tortured Carrie was haunting...and the rage at the end was as scary as you can get...and Piper Laurie as her fanatical religious mother was unforgettable. A horror movie with a message...isn't that unusual...

this was a scary movie. in the era of slasher films of friday the 13th and halloween carrie was a deeper film in which the main character is both good and bad. your scared of her yet also feel really sorry for her. hard to do with a jason or mike myers. carrie had depth. this was and still is the best steven king movie version of one of his novels bar none. very good use of lighting and atomsphere in this movie. for me two images stay with me the prom scene of course but much more frightening were the closet scenes with cruifix and jesus with the glowing eyes. very creepy.

This was a magnificent movie. I adored it. It was very thrilling and bone chilling and Carrie is an inspiration to poor little misfits with crazy religous mother everywhere.
Annie4337 07/04/2002
The best horror flick I've ever seen.

First I should say that I am one of those people that does not appreciate profanity, graphic violence or sexual situations in movies. I think it cheapens them. Therefore most R rated movies are marred for me to some degree. However, there are some R rated movies that I still have some good things to say about regardless. Carrie is one of them. Sissy Spacek does an excellent job with the part. She is creepy enough that I'm kind of scared of her, yet more than that I sympathize and even identify with her. It holds my attention throughout. The thing I dislike most about the movie is that Carrie's mother seems to be a blatant negative stereotype of a devout Christian, which I don't think is fair or accurate. The best thing about the movie is the very end! It has to be one of the best scenes in horror movie history. I love the way they lead up to it with the beautiful music and everything.

It's such a great film, especially the ending!

I have to admit I only watched this movie because I heard John Travolta had a small part. Otherwise... I didn't really feel any symphaty for Carrie, she was so annoying, as was her mother. I already knew many parts that were going to happen, and they were a lot cooler in my imagination. However it gets 2 stars for the ending. Kinda unexpected and a little bit creepy.

Brian De Palma`s "Carrie", still remains as one of the most unforgettable and enduring horror films ever made. This harrowing, chilling and riveting movie takes a look at a very popular subject; adolescent cruelty. Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) is a withdrawn and sexually repressed misfit who also possesses psychic powers. Brian De Palma`s famous prom scene is electrifying, but it is the final scene between Carrie and her mother that will both disturb and haunt you. "Carrie" is a very distinctive horror film, that combines chilling horror and tragic poignancy, creating a genuinely good movie that should be watched again and again.JUST ONE SHAPES OPINION

You will enjoy Carrie if you are in the mood for an extremly dark and gothic horror film. You need to be in the mood, or you will not like this movie at all. It is extremly dark and moody. Sissy Spacek gives a great performence if you can handle all of the screaming and yelling that goes on. The story is not simple, in fact it's a confusing movie. Carrie White is a teenager who is always made fun of because of her mother who is a total witch, and belives in witchcraft and stuff like that. Carrie's mom one day goes overboard and Carrie gets teleknetic powers. It's prom time and the cutest guy asks her out, but Carrie's mom doesn't like boys so she doesn't want Carrie to go. Carrie sneaks out and goes to the prom and when she comes back home, Carrie's mom has commited supernatural things and tried litteraly slashing Carrie to death with witchcraft.

This film is not only a brilliant horror movie but a movie with a message. Alot of films just go for the cut em up a splash blood on the drapes sort of scare. Carrie however does not. She brings us a lesson. We all can identify with Carrie but we can also identify with those who treat Carrie like crap. We all need to learn to treat everyone with respect no matter how odd they might appear. Not only is it good karma but also that person could trap you inside your senior prom and burn you alive. Carrie does delivere alot of death and mayhem for those whos soul purpose for watching horror is gore and nudity. But for those who care to dig deeper there is much more than meets the eye.

This movie is scary because when everyone was in high school everyone knew that there were people in school exactly like that. I think that's why most teens are cool with people because you don't know how these people are.
fjord 11/13/2000
This movie is terrific because Carrie gets revenge on all the jerks that she had to deal with in high school. I think we should all fantasize about doing what she did.

This movie was interesting. I enjoyed this movie and part II! It's cool how they moved things with their minds.

There are a few silly, totally unneccessary scenes in this movie, I think everyone knows which ones I'm referring to, that almost ruins it.Sissy Spacek"s & Piper Laurie's performences make this movie the classic that it has become.

I was surprised to find that this movie is even better than Stephen King's book. But I recommend it (the book) as well. One of Brian de Palma's best!!

It was kind of weird at the end. Up until the end, I thought it was a normal teenage movie.

Carrie is a classic horror movie that should be seen by all horror fans. Carrie is funny, but also scary. I liked watching Carrie with my friends because we had a good laugh, but we were also scared straight.
jdze7580du 06/20/2000
The movie was good. I thought that when the pig blood was poured over her head was pretty scary. I went with my friends and we were all scared.
Jshe7451du 06/16/2000
This was scary, perhaps because her mother was so psycho, or maybe because sissy spacek just has a freaky face. I think it was fulfilling because we always hope we could fight back like Carrie and we also know we've all treated someone badly like the people treated Carrie.
SamIAm 11/02/1999
It kills me every time I see it...She's so happy, and you see that bucket of pigs' blood--you know it's going to come down on her, but I wish every time it wouldn't..but then it wouldn't be the classic HORROR movie that it is! And her nasty mother is frightening enough all by herself..And you can't beat the classic performances of Sissy, John Travolta, and the "Greatest American Hero" guy!!
GS13270DU 10/26/1999
Carrie and all other Steven King movies are the best horror flicks.
RAER312OM 10/26/1999
Carrie is my favorite horror movie of all time!!!
