M. Night Shaymalan is definatly one of my favorite directors. I've loved every one of his movies. Especially signs which is an amazing movie. He is so good at working with children. This is proven in the sixth sense by watching Haey Joel Osmands performance in the sixth sense . He carrys around so many emotions that children his age never should experiance so young. His performance is so riviting and exciting and everyone i know loves to watch this movie. This movie is definatly a classic or is on it's way to being one. It has everything a movie lover enjoys to experiance and it is one of those movies in which you feel every tine emoting that these charectors experiance. All and All this is a movie that i could watch over and over and always feel what is going on in these charectors lives.

This is one of the best psycological thrillers since "The Silence of the Lambs". I decided to try Wiggum's "Bathroom Test" when watching this film, and in fact not once did I leave this movie to go to the bathroom so I didn't miss anything. It dragged on at parts, but the acting was supurb and made up for the few errors with the plot. I've never seen a performance as phenominal as that of Hayley Joel Osment. I reccomend this to anyone who likes creepy psycological thrillers because espescially towards the ending it will blow your mind.

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers about this one. The holes in the plot knocked this one down a star. If Bruce Willis' spirit remained on Earth with his former wife then you'd think that he'd have been there when his body was taken and buried. But other than that the movie was enjoyable. The actors weren't cheesy or trying too hard to scare you like most horror films.

The movie tagline was "Not every gift is a blessing" and I think not every creepy psycho-thriller is a great blessing either. Guess I don't approve of the storyline - communicating with the dead. Bruce Willis and Haley Joel did excellent acting jobs, and it was cleverly written, but the story ending made me angry. Let's get back to Hitchcock type movies.

overated but awsome movie thrilling and intense

This movie was freaky. I didn't want to be alone for days! Ahh, I still think of it and get freaked out. The thing that makes this scary is that we don't know if it could actually happen! It was brillantly done. I didn't even know the ending until it happend, it was such a twist! I recommend it to anyone that likes to be scared.
jauntedjamilu 12/24/2002
Wow! This movie was so huge when it came out because of the ending, I remember that it was one of the only movie endings that I actually was able to keep a secret from all of my friends. And of course, you had to go back a second time!
zuchinibut 12/09/2002
It was not as good as the hype surrounding it.

Awesome movie. Normally, I shy away from Bruce Willis films because I don't really think he's that good. However, I did watch this one, and I will be the first to say that he does an excellent job. The little boy does a great job as the kid who sees dead people.
Jason1972 10/30/2002
This was a true horror movie without all of that stereotypical stuff that you see in a horror movie. Haley Joel Osment truly shined in this movie and should've won an Oscar, and woah! I wasn't expecting an ending like that. M. Night Shmalyan has made the template of thought provoking horror movies.
ofofofof 08/14/2002
the best movie ever!!!
antondatree 04/24/2002
Yes it had a few plot-holes (c'mon, doesn't Dr.Crowe ever think of starting a conversation with anyone other than the boy?), but the plot-holes doesn't matter. How else can they have a great ending twist? I think that The Sixth Sense, has great acting (Haley Joel Osment - the greatest child actor), and is a great thriller. Although I didn't find it that scary, it still makes you think. It was one of the best films from 1999, and is generally a good movie. Recommended. Summary: GREAT ACTING, GREAT TWIST, GREAT MOVIE.
ezinma 04/02/2002
An absolutely wonderful film. Considering it's tight of budget, it's pretty much fantastic. I applaud it. Most especially Haley Joel Osment's acting. Thou' there are certain inconcsistensies, they try to maintain the reality they're trying to present. Good... good...
mrnocal 02/25/2002
With that wonderful twist ending and one of the best juvenile actor performances ever by Haley Joel Osment, this movie ranks as one of the all-time best for me.
Stud_in_Americ a 11/27/2001
Definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. The acting is awesome. Haley Joel Osment is simply spectacular as the kid who is haunted. Bruce Willis is great as the "Psychiatrist" and Toni Collette does a magnificent job as the child's mother. Genuinely scary movie, does not rely on gore to make it good. Definitely not for kids however as it is scary. But other than the overall fear involved it is a clean movie, with no sexual content and very little profanity.

Riveting! This has gotta be my favorite film of all time.
Lord of the Waves 11/04/2001
Masterfully done. If you look deep into the movie and how much they did to puyt it asll together it is amazing. Very powerful motion picture. I really dont like haley joel osmant but he did a good job this time. Also showed bruce willis's compasionate side. Very different from the what we saw in the die hards. The movie also had incredible concepts involved in it.
ellajedlicka21 10/21/2001
This is such a creepy movie. After you figure everything out at the end, all the clues are put together in your mind. Great job by the creators of this film.

I think this movie was excellent...Although it was a thriller type suspense...it was very well done...This movie can keep u on the edge of your seat all the way to the end! I remember the 1st time I saw this.. It was for my birthday with some of my friends....THe whole theatere was packed so we had to sit on the floor seats really close to the picture! I can remeber freaking out at certain parts (being the only one in the audience screaming..haha)... : ) I read some of the comments above and I noticed some1 saying how they neva showed wen Bruce Willis showered or ate...and so on...but I mean not every movie shows that...but come on even though this movie didnt show wen a person wasnt eating or sleeping it was showing the MAIN purpose of the movie...YA get me? Neway...every1 should go and c this movie..its GREAT GREAT GREAT!!! The ending really gets u thinkin "wat a great movie"...THis was such a good idea for a movie...and the actors were just fantastic..One of the best movies I have ever seen! :o)

This is the best movie I have seen that I will never watch again. I was so scared after this that for weeks I had to turn every light on when I walked through the house. I was living with my mom and her husband and on the walls were pictures of his family, so from those old pictures of the 20's where they were farmers and didn't smile. I just had a creepy feeling that I would bump into them.I loved the suprise ending that I had no clue of until the wife dropped the wedding band. I was pobably still crying when we were driving home from the theatre.
sterry 05/30/2001
It was an alright movie, but it didn't live up to the hype. Without the twist at the end it would have been almost bad.
Plumpbottom40 05/09/2001
I have to agree with some of the reviewers here about the holes in the plotline specifically involving Bruce Willis's off camera actions: When did he eat? When did he sleep? When did he shower? Etc,etc, etc. However, this is one of the most riveting and dramatic explorations into what happens when we pass on and don't know it. What I found so moving was not that the ghosts were there, it was that they were frightening someone so vunerable and young. This little boy is literally living out everyone's childhood fears about the Boogyman in the closet! Haley Joel Osment was outstanding in this film; he really conveyed all the fear, confusion, and sadness that the character experienced and helped the viewer to feel, rather than observe, these things as well. The subplots helped to make the film as a whole so fulfilling and because of them the film played more like a book than a movie. I was so impressed with the scene of Osment and Toni Collette in the car: a heartwrenching and joyful scene where Mom finally begins to understand her son through the ghost of her own mother. And Bruce Willis has never been more pleasantly surprising as he was in his portrayal of the logical and compassionate Dr. Crowe. This film is a rare gem with an engrossing plot, intelligent dialogue, and damn near perfect acting. I do have to give it four stars for the previously mentioned holes! But to be fair, this film has sold itself to be horror film without the cheesy gimmicks of "Scream" or "The Blair Witch Project" and still managed to find its way into the minds and hearts of those who can't stand horror movies!
HughJackman's "mate" 04/07/2001
Wow. AS soon as the movie was at its resolution, I knew it was a good movie. The end, however, left me stunned and speechless. The people who made this movie couldn't have done any better. The little boy (what was his name?) should definetly appear in more movies. I believe he is very talented (even more talented than some of the actors today). Bruce Willis's acting speaks for itself. He's wonderful, as always!
callmetootie 04/05/2001
I was surprised to enjoy this movie, because usually these films about zombies and the dead are pretty bad and cheesy, and low-budget, but this films gave me the goosebumps, as it also made me cry.
plea69 04/03/2001
Other then the suprise ending, not as good as I thought it would be.
bigdawgRob2k1 03/07/2001
This movie is a very well done thriller. It's very suspenseful, and fun to watch.
lilsmarty731 02/13/2001
i really enjoyed this movie !!!!!
CastleBee 01/28/2001
Very few modern horror/suspense movies have the ability to both scare and appeal to the imagination and intellect at the same time (yes, a film can require the use of your mind AND still be considered a Horror movie). This one grabs you on every level. And to think they did it without dragging you through the gutter or a constant blood bath. Now that's great good cinema!

kyes 01/17/2001
well this movie was very involving and creepy. i enjoyed it, but i don't think i'd call it a horror movie. i don't know what i'd call it. it's scary at first, but it's overall premise doesn't really say horror movie. and when it comes to all the loose ends and unanswered questions, you gotta give this one credit cause it's always hard to do a movie about ghosts
angiepoos 01/13/2001
"I see dead people" come on gimme a break!!! this movie sucked bigtime!!!
DTM-R 01/09/2001
Cool story with a great end. But it can been better then that, a very good movie though.
emmez78 12/22/2000
One thumb up, the other down. Sure the girl whose mom killed her was scary. Toni Colette is the best and the kid did wonderfully. But the editing stunk, the dead people were a little too Hollywood, and the storyline was just too choppy to be a great movie.
gtill 12/19/2000
It was good, but I really think it was totally overrated.
Thorne 12/19/2000
Alot of respect for this film. Not the best ever but definetly well written acted and directed. I am so glad this movie came out. We needed a horror film that prooves it does not require gore, teenagers, nudity or an R rating for a great movie. What I believe to be the greatest shocking ending of all is the fact that the man responsible for this pumped out the slowest blah movie of the year, Unbreakable. Now that is a truly unpredictable ending.
Johnny Roulette 10/30/2000
I admit that this is a very good movie, but I gave it one star because IT IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE!!!!
skyeblue 10/23/2000
Haley Joel Osment gives the best performance by a child actor in many years. The script is fairly tight, with the exception of why it takes Bruce Willis' character so long to figure out, well, you know. I enjoyed the film a great deal but have to admit that everyone talked so much about the "surprise ending" that I had it figured out halfway through the movie. Overall, this is a very effective film.
SamIAm 10/11/2000
This movie freaked me out big time. I saw it last night for the second time and it still spooked me. I may not be as observant as other people (I was completely shocked by the ending) therefore, ignorance is bliss because it made it much more thrilling. I agree that it is a drama slash horror with the emotional problems of both Cole and Dr. Crowe but I really thought it was a great psychological thriller as well. The premise and plot were well developed and I did jump a few times (even the second time). You also can't deny that Hayley Joel Osmet gave an excellent performance.
Wanderer 10/05/2000
Cool idea, but very disingenuously executed. The big premise was that these dead people walking around didn't know they were dead. Really? Bruce Willis possessed the cognitive and sensory ability to observe the living world and figure it out. Also, what about the little girl who wanted the boy to reveal to her father that her mother had killed her? That certainly suggests to me she knew she was dead. Another thing: what was Bruce doing whenever he was "off-camera"? The movie makers would have us believe that he was talking with the boy's mother when the boy walks in the house and sees him there. Obviously the mother didn't know Bruce was there, and would not have responded to his inevitable questions about the boy, which we assume he would ask. Wouldn't he wonder why? (Come on, if he could figure it out he was dead at the end while observing his wife's agony, why not earlier when he was investigating the boy, etc.?) I could go on. My point is that the movie makers made a big deal about the "rules" and clues, yet didn't bother to follow any themselves. They were forced to resort to trickery throughout in order to make their premise work. Even stories about the supernatural must have an internal logic. This movie, while I certainly agree was interesting and scary in parts, lacked this internal logic and was therefore a disappointment.
PoorOldEdgarDe rby 10/03/2000
Well I guess I'm in the minority here but I thought the movie was terrible and boring to boot!! Sure the premise of being able to see dead people is spooky and all but somewhere in there people seem to have gotten so swept up by the whole idea of it that they forgot how corny so much of it was with Bruce Willis walking around the city trying to sort out this little kids (and his own) problems. C'mon people work with me here. It was more of a drama than a horror movie. Oh no there's a pastey faced girl under my bed and she wants me to go deliver a box to Mommy and Daddy!!!! Oooohhhh. Now don't get me wrong if I found a pastey faced girl in a nightie hiding out under my bed you can bet I'd freak to the extreme but one things for sure you wouldn't catch me running errands for her. "oh and while your out if you would be so kind as to stop off at mummy and daddys to drop of a little something for me I'd be ever so indebted to you"

This movie has everything...Laughter, Tears, Screams. It is the on of the BEST movies I have ever seen.
init9859om 09/05/2000
a super "one time" movie, but it's not one of those repeated viewing movies, which is important when rating it overall. Won't stand the test of time, trust me !
wesk10089om 08/23/2000
Let me first say that THIS IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE! Even though it is categorized as horror, it is more like drama with a supernatural theme. And, like many have said before me, it is a great movie. Great acting, brilliant script, and of course the ending... wow. And, yes, it will withstand the test of time - just like Psycho did and many other great movies.
razz8675om 07/16/2000
The sixth sense was awesome. The ending was unpredictable and it was kinda scary. Haley Joel Osmand (I think that's how you spell it) and Bruce Willis are amazing in the movie. It's one of my favorite movies.
polo8674om 07/16/2000
A great movie with great actors - especially the kid. The story is great, and Sixth Sense deserves all of the award nominations which it received. If you haven't seen it yet, you won't believe the ending...
qkru8670om 07/16/2000
One of the scariest movies that I have seen in a while. It is even more scary because there have been people who have said that this type of thing happened to them.
chuc8591om 07/14/2000
It was one of the scariest movies that I've ever seen in years. It gets in your head, mind and soul. It makes you think while you watch it unlike the other brainless movies out there.
