This movie is creepy and scary. I felt that the plot should have had more twists. I predicted the ending.

Patricia Arquette's presence helped me to overlook the occasional hole in the story. Great commentary on/against organized religion.

Movie showed very specific might of Catholicism and how it monopolizes people in believing their teachings. It was very scary, and also made very good points.

This movie freaked me out. The things that happened were possible to happen to anyone, which made it more interesting. The storyline/script must have been well written.

I gave Stigmata a 4 because the movie scared me a lot! Usually I'm able to handle horror movies, but this one gave me nightmares. This movie dealt with supernatural elements which left an eerie impression.

This movie made no sense to me. The plot was weak, the action sense were weak. I would not want to see the movie again.

not scary, bottom line.

This movie sucked! I thought that the plot was a little far-fetched and Patricia Arquette wasn't that great. The romance between her and the priest was unbelievable. The trailers made me think it was about something else.

Not really that scary. The story line is strange and the characters are rather flat.

This is a great thriller. It takes Biblical movies to an all new level, keeping the viewer entertained and wondering before the great end.

Stigmata is not as scary as the traditional "horror" films. It is however very interesting in topic and plot. This movie left me questioning religion and church beliefs.

This is the sorriest movie I've ever seen. Too predictable and redundant. Bad acting and not even scary!

I loved this movie, although it was controversial. I am Catholic, and some of the issues really disturbed me. But I liked it because it really raised issues about the Catholic faith. The scenes were really intense.

This was a great movie! It makes the viewer wonder about the Catholic religion for months. It is also very realistic, and the story of it is very interesting. I am still wondering about the Catholic religion.

This movie freaked me out! I couldn't sleep that night. I really liked the story of how the old Priest's necklace did all of the Stigmata to the girl. It was weird how the girl would write in a language that she didn't even know.

Whenever I talk about "Stigmata" I always compare it to "Devils Advocate" by saying "Devils Advocate" scared the devil out of me, literally, but I still haven't figured out what Stigmata scared out of me. I originally thought that "Stigmata" was a movie about Devil posession, but found out that it was really about the corruption of the Catholic Church. This movie had a particular effect on me because I am Catholic, but I have always felt that their Doctrines are not in the best interest of the people, but rather those in power in the Church. Also, the movie was very scary because I believed that posession could only happen if your faith isn't strong, and "Stigmata" is about what happens when your faith reaches the ultimate level of where you actually begin to experience what Jesus went through in his last moments. After this movie, I feel pretty much screwed either way I go.

Stigmata was a very blasphemous film. It undermined the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

The storyline was good, but the script made it lame. It was over dramatized to the point that it became a comedy. It was lame and pathetic the way that the director expected people to be scared.

Two days ago I saw Stigmata & was overwhelmed! In fact I can't say witch one out of Forrest Gump & Stigmata is the best I've ever seen - cause their both perfect! It puts As Good As It Gets as the third best I've seen. Just before I went into the cinema, I read an huge Norwegian news paper given the movie one out of six stars. It was the first I've ever read about the movie. When I came out of the movie, I felt like a new spiritual person. Throughout the whole movie I freezed on my back! I've just had one similar experienced, with Forrest Gump. Then I didn't freeze, I cried. For the first time in my life that I can remember, I freezed so intensely that I actually made me cry! The movie is extremely powerful, both when it comes to pictures/colours/scripts & sounds, & especially the combination! But unlike most movies, especially horror/thrillers [!!] it had a mission! The story made me look at the world with new eyes, like I was a five years old child discovering the realities in life & the laws of the universe. It didn't only critize the Vatican Church, it also had something to tell the atheists among us. I feel more agnostic & less atheistic now than before the movie. Forget the X-Files, forget the stories of people who claim they've met aliens & ufos, forget the 'political correct use of violence' in Fight Club - Stigmata hits much harder! How could this extraordinary movie only get 6.1/10 from the IMDb.com users? Maybe because it's too controversial for them? Maybe because they were afraid of the film's message? Remember what a person said about Stigmata: "Leave religion out of cinema!". Maybe they're afraid that their religious brainwashness will be washed away by the director? Even though I haven't seen The Exorcist, I will claim that it has nothing to do with it & the reason is this: Stigmata is original because it's more than entertainment, it's also thought-provoking! :-D

I saw this movie when it came out in the theatres and liked it wuite a bit. I am always pretty interested in movies that deal with the occult/mysticism/ history of religion. Granted, a lot of this plot was fictional, it does make you wonder what types of religious mysteries exist. It was a little fraphic as far as the blood goes, so the squeamish may be turned off.
