The pros: encourages self discipline, increases overall understanding and learning. Cons: it takes time from playing video games or hanging out with friends. Which is better for the future productive citizen?

I always hated homework. I didn't care how easy or tough it was, whether it was helpful or wastful, whether I felt smarter or dumber, always hated it, but always did it. After 7 hours of school, the last thing I wanted to do is more studies. Unfortunatelly, teachers had always to give you plentty of reading, writting, solving, deciding. I didn't have much of a life because....you guest it right - homework.

Homework was never a big deal for me...but...I rarely did it to begin with. I could skip ALL of my homework assignments and get A's and B's based solely on my test scores. I had no need to do homework, so I never let the amount or frequency of it bother me.

Homework? A bitch? Has anyone else noticed that incoming college freshman are less literate than ever before? Has anyone else noticed the gradual decline in math and science aptitudes? Now they've dumbed down the SAT with an essay that kids are actually freaking out about. Being a kid today does suck because I had more fun and freedom, but the I.Q.'s are dropping fast and furious. . .complaining about homework is like shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic- it doesn't matter because we all like to ignore a bigger problem. Suck it up, kids, before your job gets shipped overseas to someone that is smarter than you.

HOMEWORK SUCKS! I usually get every night.

In appropriate amounts, it's beneficial to the students in countless ways (practicing the content, exercising various skills, demonstrating a sense of organization, being prepared and responsible, etc.). But if the student it up half the night, it just harms him/her by depriving the poor kid of sleep.

Yeah homework can be annoying. However once you get to college, it's mostly more reading and writing than anything else. Sometimes it's even optional, although it's helpful if you do it--especially when exam time comes along.
