Napster is probably the most cleaver and unique thing to happen to the music industry in a long time(not including Rage Against the Machine.) The idea that you can share rare gems with people that have the same passion for music is ingenius. Music for all intent and purpose is made to be free. Shame on anti-Napster groups that don't see this as a way to get more music out to the masses. I think that those groups have lost sight of what the started playing around in the garage for. Boo hoo if Metallica loses a couple dollars if some garage band from Wisconsin that can't get a contract from Babylon, can finally through Napster can get there music out there for all to hear. If these groups are so worried about losing a couple of dollars why do the insist on working for a label that takes almost 90% of the royalites from their hard work. Start your own label and then gripe about losing money. A shut-down of Napster is an extreme case of censorship. P.s to Lars and the gang I remember when you guys would play the Whiskey for maybe a $10 cover, now it's $50. So think who's ripping of who, Last I checked you and the gang arn't waiting in the wellfare lin. So quit your griping. Down with the system,cause it sucks.

The rock world has nothing to fear! Downloads take forever unless you have a high speed line (I'm guessing here, since I only have 56K), and just when you think you've got a song downloaded an error occurs and you've wasted an hour for nothing. Everyone is sharing the same few songs from a particular band so it's unlikely anyone would nab a complete CD. So my advice, spend some cash, save your time and buy the CD!

I can't tell you how many times I feel that the music industry has "ripped" me off.
