There isn't much to say about it, except I wouldn't own one. Besides, I don't think my cat would like the competition.

I had mice as a small child. They made fairly good pet, and we enjoyed them. They do not "play" and are more interested in exploring whomever they are on or getting away. They are smart and can easily escape an improper enclosure. Females can do good in a pair and so can males, but males are a bit more territorial as they age and you can get brawls, but this is uncommon in groups smaller then 4. Not my first pick for a pet.

I love mice. I got two at a store called fancy mice and even my mother, who shrieked at the idea of having mice in the house, quickly grew to like them. They have their own personalities, are highly trainable, and if you are gentle with them, can learn to trust you. They are full of energy and aren't as fat and lazy as hamsters. The only problem when I got my new pets was that we thought we were getting two females. We were wrong. Within a month, there was a litter of sixteen little pink hairless things in the cage. My mom was horrified, but it wasn't long before the babies had grown so that they had fur and opened eyes, and then they were so adorable we couldn't give them away. So we got a bigger cage. But none of us had counted on the brothers and sisters breeding with themselves. Suddenly there were too many mice too count, and we gave them all away except for the mother and one of her daughters. I still have them today, and they are really fun to play with. My mom is holding a grudge, though, and she wants to get rid of them because she thinks that there will be more babies. I tried showing her that the mice were only females, but that didn't go very well.

I've had pet mice before. They're adorable. They each have their own unique personality, once you get to know them, and it's really cute to see a female getting big from pregnancy. If you drop shreds of newspaper and such in their terrarium, and provide a small, enclosed space, you can watch her build a nest for her babies, then you'll see a bunch of little pink baby mice. Of course, there are downsides--the males are uncontrollably horny, so if you don't want the population to explode (and you don't, trust me), you're going to have to separate the males and females. And you SHOULD have more than one--they are social creatures. If you give them enough to play with, you'll be amazed at all the things they can do. They require commitment as any pet does--they have an average of a two-year life span. They're not a great pet for everyone, but they are endearing creatures.

I put poison out for the pet mice in my garage.
