Newest version is an indespensible office software necessity. The basics are easy to grasp. . .and after some practice you can have some fun with presentations. Only downside is cost if you have to buy it outside of a package that comes already installed on your computer (or is included with your purchase)Strange how the magic of a power point presentation can make anyone believe anything. I've seen presentations that looked great but had anti-intellectual messages no better than "The Moon is made of Marshmellow" and (because it was on POWERPOINT) some weak-spirited members of the audience gave it credence."P.P.-generation"?

Hard to pass Powerpoint in versitility, but still has the inherent MS Office security flaws to contend with.

I don't think most people realize the huge number of functions and uses this program has. This is not just a dinky little program to use for slide shows. It is a powerful, professional level piece of software that has the ability to utilize sound, animation, has many transitional effects and can handle the insertion of animated graphics. I have used this to create many presentations used in educational TV productions in the past. Part of my current job now is the management of a cable access channel on which I continually run public service announcements, which I create and run ala PowerPoint. And the result is a much more interesting and less expensive presentation than the character generated PSA's we once ran. I couldn't do without it and consider it to be well worth the money!

Definitely took a while to figure it all out in terms of all the stuff you can do. Of course I didn't have a booklet and no one to show me but once I got it going I found it to be quite impressive.

This is not a very intuitive program. However, once you have used it for a while, you will find that you are able to do anything you need to do to make slick presentations. It's not something you can pick up in a couple of hours though...
