05/27/2003 | Outstanding racer when NASCAR was an infant. A daredevil but smart; took chances but when odds in his favor. A man who beat the lady in black more than once, a feat for only the best.
I knew him as a service station owner in my home of Sanford, NC (lived three houses above his station) and delivered his daily paper. A kind and geneous man who loved racing second only to those he knew. Many times he took me into his little brick house to show me his tropies. Impressive trophies, impressive man.

12/06/2002 | Pound for pound Thomas was the best. If not for an injury caused by an intentional crash by the teammate of the man he was racing for a points champpionship during the 50s, his stats would have rivaled ANY other driver.
