JEOLUSY[however its spelled] is what it seems like to me after reading any anti-cowboy or anti-yankee messsages. Im not a Cowboy fan,Im an Atlanta Falcon fan and I wish we would have been in one half as many SuperBowls as Dallas has.Its strange but about 99% of the Cowboy haters Ive met over the years have never strapped on the gear,lined up and participated in a real football game.Im not a Dallas fan,but their tradition,number of exciting games,past heroes{too many to name)and sales of team merchandise are second to none.Even this year.

Cowboys are awesome and yes simply the best franchise ever. Yes they are not that great right now, but they have to rebuild. Dont forget they were 1-15 one year, and a couple years later they were sitting on the top of the world. Americas team will do it again i have not doubt in my mind. So all of you cowboy haters injoy it while you can. Because they will never suck as bad as your favorite team.

they are doing great in a rebuilding process that is keeping the defense one of the best intact and improving the offense very well under new head coach bill parcells

They have appeared in more Super Bowls than any other team. They are tied with the most Super Bowls won. They also went to the playoffs in a record 19 staight times. Staubach, Lilly, White, Landry, Dorsett, Irvin, Smith, and Aikman...Hall of Famers and some defintely bound for it. This is the #1 franchise in the NFL, how they are ranked any lower goes beyond any conventional understanding.

What a succesful franchise needs: a smart quarterback, a reliable runningback, a solid offensive line, and a tenacious D. Dallas has....a D that plays most of their series, but not all of them. The Tuna has alot of work ahead of him. It'd be a miracle if Dallas could knock off Phili or New York, so it'll be a battle to stay out of the cellar of the NFC East with Washington. Unfortunately for the 'Boys, Washington has the edge. This may be the hardest rebuilding job for the Tuna yet.

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the greatest winning traditions in all of sports. Love them or hate them (there seems to be no in between) you have to respect what they have done. 8 superbowls 5 wins. Nobody has been there or won more. Simple as that.

Now that we got Parcells in town, every other team better look out. Things are looking sunny again in beautiful Big D. Love it, love it, love it.

As a lifelong Cowboys fan, it is becoming increasingly difficult to cheer for this team. The reason is simple and can be summed in two words.....Jerry Jones. I know that Jerry is the owner and, as a result, can do whatever he wants. However, in the best interest of the team, I strongly feel that the time has passed for Jones to relinquish some control of this team. For example, it is time for Jones to hire a GM. During the past few years, there have been numerous qualified individuals who would have been excellent GMs. In my opinion, a respectable GM would assist greatly in managing this ship, which is beginning to look more and more like the Titanic with each passing season. Giving the Boys a "2" was a painful event for me. But, until Jones opens his eyes, this team is in serious trouble. Denial is not just a river a in Egypt.

i base my rating not only on the five superbowls they have won but also the cowboys happen to be my favorite nfl team. however if i had to be completely objective a strong case can be made for the 49ers. just look at the similarities(qb) aikman/montana(rb)smith/craig(wr)irvin/rice(coach)j ohnson/walsh. i know both teams and players are ranked differently and played differently but the results were the same :superbowls. a total of ten between each club. however i give the edge to the cowboys. jay novacheck you will be missed.

I cannot stand Jerry Jones. A very arrogant guy who wants to coach it all himself which is why Jimmy Johnson left. The team was never the same since.

Always hated the Cowboys. Used to respect them prior to Jerry Jones, though. I love Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith as players, but can't bring myself to root for them. PLUS, the Boys broke the Steelers record of 4 Super bowl wins... AND, they and the Braves in baseball call themselves America's team. What a farce. America's team is the Yankees. Period.

A lot of people like to talk about all of the illustrious history that the Cowboys have. Well let me tell you something. History doesn't help you win Super Bowls! All of their good players from the early 90s are either retired or in drug rehab.

Grew up in Houston in the 60's. The ritual was to gather around the TV after church and watch Coach Landry and Staubach lead the team to victory every Sunday. I guess that's now the "Golden Age," when players played HARD to win and the salary was secondary to being on the team. It was not uncommon to run into Cowboy players in town or on a hunting trip. I consider team loyalty to be an important part of character (I've also been an Astro's fan forever too...) and relished the Super Bowl victories in the 90's after being mocked for terrible seasons in the 80's. I agree with the concensus that Jerry Jones is an ass and should go. Some of the current players need to grow up and move on to allow some kids who want to play football on the team. Nevertheless, the Dallas Cowboys "concept" created by Mr. Murchison and my memories of great Sunday afternoons growing will always be the reason that they will always be "America's Team," and my favorite team.

The Cowboys are my all-time favorite NFL team. Nowadays it hard living around mostly Redskin fans. At least we kicked their sorry butts last year. I wished that Troy had retired a little better than he did. He had a great career in Dallas and i can't help but think that his retirement could have been handled differently. Maybe that was more his fault than Dallas'. He'll be truly missed.

As much as many people "hate" the Dallas Cowboys. It is not just the fact that this team over their entire history has made so many heart stopping plays or has been so successful. I love the Dallas Cowboys for their traditions, Tom Landry, Roger Staubach and Bob Lilly. The list of incredible players can go on forever. This team was started by a maverick character (Clint Murchison) and this team has represented him well. God Bless the Dallas Cowboys!

Jealousy is the reason that people hate the Cowboys. Every team goes through hard times, but to ridicule this team as some people do is ridiculous. This team could have won 6 superbowls in the 90's and people would still say they are not that good. When will it stop? I know, when All Eagles fans decide to go back to school and learn their ABC's, cause they are the biggest cry babies in Pro Sports.

These guys constantly let me down: when I think they're going to win, they lose. When I think they're going to lose, they win!

How great is it to see this franchise struggling? And, it isn't like they have good things on the horizon. They aren't a young team, Aikman is a hit away from retirement, Emmitt is one of the best ever to play the game, but he is an old 31, and their defense is awful. It is time for Jerry Jones to fire himself as GM and bring in someone who knows what he is doing. As a Cowboys hater, however, I rest easy knowing that he'll never do that.

I always liked the Boys, but it looks like they need to go back to the drawing board. They need a new young stud QB and in a couple of years will have to replace Emmitt Smith. They pay a fortune for Joey Galloway, and he lasts 30 min before going down with a season ending knee injury. The boys will be back, but it will take 2 to 3 years.

What happened to this franchise? As a long time eagles fan, I can't say that I felt even one ounce of sympathy for the 41-14 dismantling that took place against the birds. Dallas got thrashed in every aspect of the game - from the offensive and defensive lines, to the skill positions, to the coaching. This team has gone to hell in a hurry, and hopefully we're only glimpsing the tip of the iceberg of how bad they really are. They have no quarterback - Aikman should retire, randall is too old and too disinterested, and galloway, the same galloway that the cowboys bet their future on by trading two high draft picks for, will end up 2000 having played a total of about 30 minutes. Jerry Jones was happy to build this team into one that dared other cities to despise them - now it is a very pleasant feeling to see them as a franchise that is clearly in disarray. Time to pay the piper.

This year there are no clear cut front runaways in the NFL. There are about 8 or so teams w/ a chance to win the Super Bowl. However, there are 6 or 7 more that can knock out the prior 8 on any given day in the playoffs.
