Very funny, but a few too many of the typical uncomfortable Ben Stiller moments that make me want to cringe.
sfalconer 02/13/2006
De Niro is really good in this as is Ben Stiller but the rest of the cast is not up to the task. The movie is funny in parts, which is unusal for a Stiller film, but it drags and it is some what pedictable. Its on cable all the time and worth a watch.
Drummond 01/04/2006
Moronic. Some funny moments, but got very tedious.
OutsideBlitz 11/26/2005
I thought Meet The Fockers was funnier, but I liked Meet The Parents a little more. A classic movie.
INOitALL 10/29/2005
A rare gem in a decade of pretty lousy comedies.
joshua_01 10/16/2005
your f**kin stupid if u dont like this film.
Working-Class_Hero 09/19/2005
Yes its funny , because of the amazing cast in there .. but however i still prefer meet the fockers which is way funnier..
musicprof 07/31/2005
Any movie with Ben Stiller as the lead is in dire trouble. He plays the same tired charactor in everything he does. No variation. I LOATHE Ben Stiller.
Cindyo 06/22/2005
This movie is very funny, I'm looking forward to seeing Meet the Fockers. I did think that this movie had some parts that were getting to the there is no way this would ever happen so for me it wasn't as funny as it could have been, if things could have been more realistic. But that didn't stop me or anyone else to sitting back and enjoying this true comedy of Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller.
maersk 06/14/2005
f**king idiotic.
James76255 06/12/2005
It's good the first time, but loses a little with repeat viewing. It's a different kind of role for Deniro, and he plays it very well. Ben Stiller is one of those guys that kind of annoys me, but still manages to put out movies I kind of like.
tvchristian 05/09/2005
Liked it a lot. Very funny. The sequel is even funnier.
CanadaSucks 05/08/2005
I'm the black sheep here - I didn't think the movie was funny. No real man would have ever put up with that kind of crap. . .(okay, the sex-toys in the suitcase thing was kind of funny)
alpepper 05/08/2005
The original and the sequel are about tied on the Laugh-O-Meter and that would be above average. I found the DeNiro character(and his damn cat Mr. Jinx) was just too damn mean and felt that Gaylord Focker has to be the most suffering Hebrew since Job.
KC2DC 04/27/2005
Another one of my all-time favorites! Ben Stiller is a comic genius. Teamed up w/ De Niro was too much.
Lost48 04/15/2005
I especially like the part with the cat on the toilet...
kattwoman 04/04/2005
this is the movie that made me become a ben stiller fan id seen things with him in before but this what won me over. deniro is versatile.
Skizero 02/11/2005
the first time i viewed this film i thought it was funny. but i recently saw it again and found the Stiller/DeNiro teaming to be a bit on the ingratiating side, which caused me to pass on the second film.
Jenlynn 02/03/2005
It was a decent movie, but they revealed too many of the funny moments in the previews.
The Slacker 12/23/2004
A very hilarious movie. Ben Stiller to do other types of movies though.
nyma 12/23/2004
I may be wrong but to me it wasnt as great as it was made out to be. There were some hilarious parts. I love Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro so....
afermin 12/14/2004
HILLARIOUS LOL FUNNY!
wcs315 12/10/2004
If you can find a funnier movie, I will kiss your ass!! Does not get any better than this one.
VirileVagabond 10/14/2004
I was very disappointed in Meet The Parents (released in 2000 and directed by Jay Roach). Ben Stiller plays male nurse Greg Focker who is off to visit his girlfriend Pam's parents for the first time. Every guy's worst nightmare comes to fruition as Pam's dad Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) obviously does not like Focker, a situation only exacerbated by one disaster after another (eg a lost cat, flooded toilet, and a fire). Stiller comes in with his usual flare and De Niro is exceptional, but something does not really click, whether it is chemistry or the script. Moreover, some of the gags and disasters are played out far too long (eg the cat). One often-overlooked highlight is Owen Wilson as Pam's perfect ex-boyfriend. The bottom line is that Meet The Parents should have been better and must suffer in the rating when compared to the better films on this list.

This is great! I watch this all the time and never get tired of it. This would be a good movie to watch on thanksgiving.
jmoney52 10/02/2004
You know, I would probably give this one five stars, just on the chemistry between DeNiro and Stiller alone, but there are so many scenes where I feel so uncomfortable because of the embarassment of Stiller's character. I loved this movie.
Seraph 09/29/2004
My favorite comedy. Almost non-stop laughs, and a nice mixture of sophisticated humor and slapstick. Hope the sequel lives up to the original.
kitkatsangel 08/19/2004
My family & I loved this movie we are excited about seeing meet the faukers we can hardly wait hope to see it real soon
marilynfan 08/12/2004
it was funny of course it had BEN STILLARD in it. yeah I liked it. virile vagablood I am pretty sure who ever is in here has seen the movie so you dont have to type the whole back cover ok thanks.(and the cats name is jinxie)
Jimbo04 07/28/2004
It was a good movie. Alot of funny moments. DeNiro loving cats was a different side of him than what we usually see. But the Gaylord Focker was one of some tasteless jokes.
India-Ink21 07/05/2004
Just about the funniest movie I had seen in a long time. One of the rare movies that I can watch over & over.
kamylienne 05/30/2004
Ugh. I'm kinda tired of seeing Ben Stiller play the clumsy underdog who puts up with a lot of crap, this time from the future in-laws. It had its moments, but it wasn't enough.
Ellie 4 JD, RW n GV! 05/19/2004
This film is HILARIOUS!
MeTalhed 04/17/2004
This is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. Robert Deniro and Ben Stiller were awesome together in this movie and it was also one of the funniest moveies i have ever seen. I would definately recommend this movie to anyone who has never seen it.
Yorthan 04/13/2004
Never before, and never again will a short comedian and Robert Deniro have such a comedic chemistry. (Unless you count Billy Crystal in Analyze This, or Analyze That, or Analyze The Other Thing [not yet in production].)
pennyroyalty 04/03/2004
I have nipples. can you milk me? Ben stiller and Robert DeNiro are fantabulous in this movie. It was great to see Robert take a break from the tough guy roles and do something as funny as this movie was. I'm just hoping that Meet The Fockers will be as good!
evileye 03/25/2004
THIS IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST MOVIES EVER!! IT BRINGS FAMILIES TOGETHER LAUGHING & HAVING A GREAT TIME!!!!!!
kinkykinks 03/21/2004
funniest movie of the year 2000
Molfan 03/02/2004
We thought this was a funny movie. Not the greatest movie I ever saw., but it did have great scenes.Robert DeNiro is terrific as the dad who intimidates, Ben Stillers character.I liked the scene at dinner time and the conversation that took place, the dad making the boyfriend take a lie detector test.A lot of good scenes. Ben stiller plays the boyfriend who is trying to get enough nerve to ask his girlfriends dad if he can marry her.Robert DeNiro is so good at playing the kind of character that can scare the H***out of someone. Not a perfect movie, but an enjoyable one.
DickWeener 01/22/2004
Alot of People don't really care for this one. I think it was put together very well and Robert Deniro isn't a half bad comedy actor, he is such a good actor and very serious is what makes him actually funny in these comedies he does. Ben Stiller is really good in this one, he plays it off pretty well, and his girlfriend in this flick is freaking hot, and you gotta love Owen Wilsons Nose.....Great Movie.
irishgit 12/24/2003
A few good moments, but generally no better than average.
pug_lover 12/18/2003
i thought it was pretty funny. thats about it.
Mr.Elsasser 12/10/2003
Hilarious antics movie with great characters that seems real. Awesome quick humor.
DHeman 11/28/2003
Ben Stiller is a funny guy without any goofy stuff. This movie is not like some comedies with sick humors or stupidity, the movie is just funny in a natural way because the script is well written, and of course Ben is one of those natural funny guys out there. Overall, not the best, but it has its good moments.
ClassicTVFan47 11/15/2003
Although it has one or 2 amusing moments, it again turns too raunchy for its own good and has distatesful visual gags, too many sex jokes and too much profanity. About the only light are the occasionally-amusing parents, who swim in and out of tasteful and yucky. The acting is still sub-par, except for the father, and the plot is innane. Avoid this movie!
radiodiego 10/27/2003
"Actually, you can milk anything with nipples." "I have nipples Greg, can you milk me?"
nicole78 09/08/2003
I loved this movie but in a way it made me mad that poor guy tried so hard to make things right and his girlfriend never really took up for him knowing the stuff that was happening to him until the end of the movie! Like when he accidentally spiked the volleyball into her sister's face after they kept calling him names and telling him to and then they all gave him dirty looks and walked away from him even his girlfriend. It was funny but made me cringe in those parts because anyone who has met someone's parents knows how awkward it is and would have not put up with that crap for that long without going off on everyone in that house including his girlfriend!! But then again haha if that happened then there would would not have been a movie!!
winnipeg15 08/19/2003
Unbelievably funny!!!...Deniro can do it all...just his facial expressions alone, cracked me up.His relationship with Jinxie...stabilized Deniro as a true sensitive comedian when called upon. Stiller's need to impress the Parents, still brings a smile to my face..right up there with Ferris,Bill murray, and even John Candy movies...Rent it again!!!
hill 08/16/2003
I LIKED THIS MOVIE,I WATCHED IT OVER AND OVER.IT WAS A VERY FUNNY MOVIE.
