My Favorite Martian 3

An original concept that was better done later by Bewitched and Mork & Mindy.

Great show early on. Well cast. One of the lowest budget t.v. shows of all time judging by the production values. Had a pretty good run in spite of it. Would have benefitted by some good writers.

I watch the re-runs still today and enjoy them. I find it fascinating that in those days of being a good citizen and being urged to be on the alert for 'communists' and 'spies', Tim O'Hara would hide the alien Martian and pass him off as his own uncle! In the days of the Cold War, people werent feeling all that good about reaching out to stangers, especially the kind the government would be eager to get their hands on.

My Favorite Martian 3

As a prior reviewer noted, the 1960's had more than its share of magical fish out of water television shows, but I believe that "My Favorite Martian" predated the similar "Bewitched" and "I Dream Of Jeannie". While this show was okay (hence the three stars), it suffers in comparison with the other two in that I don't recall the two primary characters having as much interaction with other characters. This ultimately led to repetitive plotlines and the show getting a bit stale. Nevertheless, with that said the success of "My Favorite Martian" was clearly built on the talents of and chemistry between Ray Walston and Bill Bixby and led to subsequent shows like "ALF" and "Mork And Mindy".

I find this one crappy sitcom to be extremely boring. Mork and Mindy is way better than this piece of garbage.

This show is not worth watching. It's basically a clone of "Bewitched" that's in poor quality.

Some of the shows are really good..I liked it when Bill bixby turned on the TV and found it did'nt work because Ray Walston was always removing parts to build some crazy gadget.

This show was intriguing for about four episodes. Unfortunately, they kept filming and the end result was a celluloid approximation of toilet tissue.

I used to enjoy My Favorite Martian. It was quite entertaining having a being from another Planet on Earth, especially in the 60's. Just recently I saw the Movie and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I find that remakes are usually far below the series, but this one was quite good.

Most sitcoms from the 60s were quite good, and here's another example of one. The efforts to hide his martian hertiage were quite funny as were some other slapstick plots centered around the human he was living with. Could have lasted longer, in my opinion.

Who am I to be rating this show, considering I've only seen like 5 episodes? Well, I'm gonna do it anyway. This show (before TV Land dumped it) was on after Adam-12 for awhile and I'd get the first minute or so on the tape (since it was on in the middle of the night!) Anyway, I taped a couple of the episodes and thought they were very entertaining. Much better than snotty Samantha on Bewitched. Uncle Martin and Tim had much better chemistry than Darrin and Sam (why were those two together anyway?) Now, if Bill Bixby had found that bottle on the beach instead of Larry Hagman, TV Land would be that much better!

This is a perfect example of the many oddball comedies that cropped up like mushrooms in early to mid-'60's. These shows typically featured some kind of supernatural element - a witch, an alien, a person reincarnated as a car, a talking horse, or a genie. The main character always had powers the "normal" people were forced to keep under wraps - a task they never accomplished. This formula may seem pretty hackneyed today, but "My Favorite Martian" and many of the other shows of its type, were really pretty unique at the time. In spite of the fact that it became a hit show it would be several years before I would realize what a really talented and respected actor Ray Walston actually was. His biography revealed that he grew pretty tired of the repetitive nature of "My Favorite Martian" long before it finally ended. Still, he and Bill Bixby seemed to play off each other well and both did a very good job with the material. I was happy to see Walston achieve new popularity as the years went by and that he successfully continued his acting career up until his death this past January.

My Favorite Martian 2

My Favorite Martian had only 2 good episodes, which were in fact the first two. After that, the show was really confusing and boring. Then it was turned into an extremly boring movie.

Mr. Hand from Ridgemont High as a martian in the 1950s. Nothing else can be or needs to be said.
