After Tolkien, this author redefined the epic fantasy genre, allowing everyone writing fantasy after him a place on the bookstore shelves! He transcended Tolkien in every way with his subsequent books after THE SWORD OF SHANNARA, and for this he should be acknowledged as one of the greats!

Sword of Truth: Magnifico. At least the first four or five books were. The latest seems to be getting a bit repetative; but hey, who am I to judge. The first 4 or 5 though, wow! talk about in-depth and intriguinng stuff. I love that wily old Zed.
