This is actually an odd listing. I don't know anyone who did heroin recreationally. Doing it once or twice doesn't count. These are the lucky ones who tried it and didn't get off on it. They snorted it. Everyone else were "users" and lemme tell you...there's nothing recreational about it. These people were working hard at it...like a job. Ironically, the addicts that I knew could maintain a pretty high level of productivity and creativity as long as their timing was good and their source was reliable. But, life happens and things go bad really fast. Bad road to go down.

Never have and never will
irishgit 05/01/2008
I've known a few users in my time, and once, a very long time ago, snorted some (which is considerably different than shooting it. I'm pretty nervous around needles, and being on the spike was never a serious option.
Few of the drugs on this list can be called beneficial or good, and in that sense heroin is little worse or better than any others. In many cases, those who have died from it die as much from the lifestyle around it, as they do from the drug.
lilredxx 01/13/2008
i heard you can die if theres a single air bubble in the syringenever trust needles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't do drugs!
frostmourne 08/18/2007
This drug destroyed many great people. Stay away. The curiosity may drive many reading this to try it but my friend have fucking scars on his arms from it. He says he still craves it from time to time and he quit eight years ago.
Wooooooooo 09/06/2006
Killed some of my favorite people, and is affecting a friend of mine. Damn drug.
kingguiness 06/20/2006
I've heard it's a great high but as with all of these type of drugs it comes at a great cost. DOnt do it!
madamedragonli ly 06/11/2006
Why does anyone ever start doing this drug? I have never heard one good thing about it. Anyone I ever met or know who does it has messed up lives and even a few I know have died from the toll its took on their bodies.
Djahuti 11/25/2005
Not something I've tried personally,or want to.I've seen it up close and personal, though, and it's ugly.I've known some very "functional" users, and also known a couple with a child and now the father is dead from it.Thankfully, the Mom is clean now. Many creative peoples lives have been cut short by this drug.Sharing needles is a great way to contract HIV.
eastvanprinces s 09/06/2005
I personally love it...the addiction part of it can be overcome if you dont let yourself get carried away. I know its destroyed alot of people but used in a controlled manor its a great feeling. I'm just talking about smoking it, I dont agree with needles but thats just my personal opinion. People use all sorts of things to try and escape reality and this is my favorite way to escape reality. When your feeling really down it helps you feel better, its such a euphoric, calm feeling. Nothing compares. I was addicted to it for 5 months and when I wanted to stop I did. I admit it wasnt the greatest feeling for the first week but it wasnt unbearable. Most of it is in your head. I havent touched it for a year but I still miss that feeling that nothing else in the world gives you. I would do it again if I could get it here but I definatley wouldnt let myself get hooked. I have too much going for me in my life now to screw it up. But once in a blue moon would be great.
Miss_Perverse 06/11/2005
It's a bastard of a cycle to get into. It's sad for the addict and their families to be tormented by the drug. And also the forgotten victims of this crap, people attacked for money and goods, for a heroin addict to convert to H money.
Skizero 03/02/2005
i think Heroin crosses that line between do you want to get high, or do you want to die? i've known too many people who've done this crap.
Titan87 03/02/2005
Another drug that scares the hell out of me
Flick01 08/26/2004
As a recreational drug this is on the same plane as crack cocaine. If you have no idea how difficult it is to break the addiction, read John Lennon's description of when he and Yoko quit in the early 1970s and listen to his song Cold Turkey which gives a frightening account of the pain he experienced.
Blanco~Nino 08/26/2004
A while back, i suffered from a chronic scald on my left forearm from a camping accident. My pharmacist gave me morphine to dull the pain. I must confess, it worked all too well. After every intake, my body built up an immunity, thus i needed a bigger dosage to achieve the same effect, so i hatched a formula that turned my morphine into heroin, which is 6 times more potent. While the pain was nonexistent, every moment that heroin was not in my veins, i wecame bitter, withdrawn, and felt as if the world would come to an end. I eventually stopped, but had to go through terrible withdrawls, which are ten times more paiinful than anything you can imagine. Even today a voice in the back of my head whispers to me, trying to get meto shoot up. Do yourself a favor, stay away from horse.
Faldara 05/03/2004
I loved heroin more than anything, kept loving it even while it took everything away from me. The high is like nothing else. I am grateful to have survived it, many I know including my husband did not. It scares me to hear people say they can use it for recreation - just once in a while. Don't make the mistake so many have made thinking that you're the one who can handle it, that you won't become addicted - don't take that chance.
scarletfeather 04/04/2004
Heroin is not a possibility for me because I detest needles. I understand people do heroin because it evokes a feeling of contentment. But you can feel content just having a drink or two, or lounging in a hammock on a spring day. All in all, a good drug to stay away from. UPDATE: I wish I could understand why so many people in the entertainment field have found this drug so mesmerizing. I can't think of anything more repulsive than sticking a needle in your arm! I don't care how great the high would be.
ClassicTVFan47 12/01/2003
How the word hero could be in an illegal drug is beyond me!
latinasexy 11/18/2003
Can somebody please tell me how you smoke heroin? My boyfriend says its different to smoking a cigarette but he wont let me see anyone doing it! If preferred you can send me a private message.Thank you
fuzzyfreak 10/28/2003
You could probably blame three or four recreational drugs for a large percentage of crime in todays societies and Heroin is one of them. I have known people who have a Heroin addiction and watched them change and even die. It's a shame that we can't try and get the same high from life and an even bigger shame we can't stop these drugs getting through customs.
auxiliary470 10/13/2003
Well no shockingly horrifying comedowns like with crack, and not as addicting as I thought before I tried it. Very euphoric a few strokes short of crack, warm and contentful.
joefly69 09/26/2003
This drug has killed alot of brilliant musicians! I hate this drug! Rest in peace Brad Nowell, and Janis Joplin!
hendo 08/21/2003
I don't know why heroin is in a list of recreational drugs. Heroin is a highly addictive, dirty drug. Have you ever seen a junkie? They don't care about anything or anybody, just getting their next fix, even if it means stealing from a family member. Heroin is used more to escape problems as opposed to have fun or relax every once in a while.
mikeholly93 08/20/2003
Heroin is killing innocent people. It must be eliminated forever!
RebelYell1861 05/14/2003
It destroyed Kurt Cobain's career/life. Enough said.

Just as bad as Crack. Heroin destroys lives and anybody with any sense would stay away from this drug.
niehausapprais er 03/10/2003
In case any Christians or socialists get any ideas..... its GREAT !!!
TheFreak 02/22/2003
Layne Staley, Andrew Would, Kristen Pfaff, probably would have gotten Kurt Cobain eventually, NEED I SAY MORE? Heroin fouls with people, period. It's highly addictive, and the person will become totally dependent on it for pleasure. I still can't believe Rateitall is having us rate drugs, but now that I have the chance to vent about it, I may as well take it. Deoression is a large problem in our society, but mainlining just isn't the way to take care of it.
laotzu 02/16/2003
You've gotta love the people that rate opium high, but rate heroin poorly. Heroin makes you feel wonderful. I'm of the opinion that most drugs can be taken occassionally and not be abusive. Herion blankets the user in apathy and bliss, the very thing that most politicians are seeking when they chase their stressful day with 5 or 6 cocktails. It isn't an everyday drug, but it can be useful when used once in a while.
