Silly, but less so than the big 3 western religions. And doesn't try to force its beliefs on non believers.

All f***ing hail Wicca. I can't believe that Christians believe that MAGIC it BAD!!!!!!!! And they base their religion on a person who practiced magic EVERYDAY! Also WIcca is NOT just a religion about MAGIC, or WITCHCRAFT! It's a normal religion just like the rest of 'em. We have our beliefs and laws too!
Vudija 03/11/2006
I personally think that if you are happy with your religion, do what you want. It doesn't matter what other people think, but why other people feel the need to harass others is beyond me. Does it make you feel good about yourself? Here I thought that only God could judge man and here you are telling wiccans that they are Satan-worshipping sinners that are being deceived into thinking that the religion is pure, spiritual, and nature-loving. Wiccans think this about the religion because that's what it is about, not because they are being deceived to think that it is. Wiccans don't even believe in Satan, nor do they have a being that could possibly resemble him. *Updated* because I am no longer involved in this religion, not that my opinions have really changed on the issue.
Irishgirl22 02/05/2006
This is not a religion, this is a practice of worshipping evil, a division of Satan's practices.
colonelo'neill 01/31/2006
Wicca is a well-meaning religion and it's not about worshipping Satan. However, it provides no way to be saved from the troubles of life. It says that with enough power you'll be able to get by. But that simply is not true. Many have tried but since each of us is fundamentaly incapable of long-term right action, incapable of really loving anything more than ourselves, it just won't work. We need a more powerful being to rescue us: we need God. Praise be to God our Father, for he has sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to die for us so that we may join in his death, by faith, and be raised to new life in Him.
Drummond 12/19/2005
Certainly appreciate the Witches Rede, which goes something like, "Do what you will as long as it hurts nobody" (presumably only non-consensually, since some Wiccans are into "power exchange" sexuality, but that's a topic for another list).
LadyLaila 09/27/2005
OMR... you people are all morons... you do realise that your Bible is nothing but a book that people made 200 years after Christ died? Those people didn't know anything, because they WEREN'T there... all of those 'true' stories are inaccurate... and your religion is supernatural too... like that story about how that woman looked back at the burning city and turned to salt... isn't that spellcraft too? You're all fools for believeing in Satan... that bastard is only something created that you minds created... Morons... you're all stupid babies... grow up... and Muslims are not violent... they are very peaceful people... just because some of them do things, doesn't mean that they are all bad... same thing with Christians... because in a way you people are saying that if a Christian does something bad then all Christians are bad... and I know that you don't think that... so just shut your Ra-damned mouth and leaves Wiccans alone... sheesh... -_- And by the way... Wicca is not a female religion... there are plenty of males that are Wiccan too... but what's wrong with a powerful female anyway? Your women should be ashamed of you... letting you dominate them... with them you wouldn't have been born... so HA!!
numbah16tdhaha 09/15/2005
Most wiccans don't even have a clue what they are practicing. I get a different definition from every wiccan I have asked about what it is they believe.
GenghisTheHun 09/15/2005
Hilarious. Basically some made-up mumbo-jumbo put forth by extreme feminists and lesbians. I actually saw a bumper sticker that other day next to the pro-choice bumper sticker, My Other Conveyance is a Broom. In the back window was some sticker decrying religious persecution of witches. How do these people know what witches did since I assume that they were all stamped out by the time of the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment?
magick13 09/14/2005
Before you judge you should do a lot of research. Wicca is a wonderful religion. We do not worship the christian Satan or anything that even resembles that concept so don't go there. The Divine is everywhere and in all things. We do not believe in revealed truth such as Bibles or holy books. We find enlightenment and enjoyment from life and the world around us. Not all Wiccans have the same level of knowledge or experience so you really shouldn't judge all Wiccans on what some Wiccans do. We strive for balance in our religion which is why we honor a God and Goddess. We are not all lesbians or feminists which should neither be considered bad anyway. Wiccans are many types of people. We are everywhere and not going to disappear anytime soon. So everyone should show some respect if they want respect in return.
BirdEgal202 08/03/2005
A religion founded on the principle do what you will but harm none must be steeped in evil.
samson42284 06/29/2005

kingguiness 06/11/2005
Some more baloney and bunk!
Djahuti 04/25/2005
This is one of the more balanced belief systems in that it recognizes the FEMININE side of Divinity. It is also healthy in it's reverence for the Earth.People who confuse it with Cults and Satanism are totally ignorant.I challange anyone who calls it New Age Fluff to read Vivian Crowleys books on the subject.
caligula 04/15/2005
Seems harmless. Basically for ugly chicks and Lesbos.
Wakataka 02/23/2005
Although I believe that all religions are totally perposterous, I must say that this religion is often lumped in with negative images. I know plenty of wiccans and the truth is, those images you see of depressed little kids dressed in black are simply doing it for the cool factor. Very few people actually understand the religion, especially those who belittle it immediately. There for I will give this religion a higher ranking then Christianity - because I know everyone who gives a nagative rating are only doing so due to ignorance on their parts.
samjung23 02/05/2005
Ridiculous, all the Wiccans I know are messed up. A religion for the weird chicks that most guys wise up and dump!
Miles Teg 01/12/2005
sad sad wiccans. actually believing that their religion/ethos goes back more than 50 years or so. Modern wicca has as much to do with celtic/druidic paganism as the Holy C has to do with the essenes who wrote the bible. not a helluva lot. Wicca (not witchcraft!not witchcraft!) is just more new age mumbo jumbo for confused rich whites. (if its not witchcraft then why are wiccans always defending witches? hmmm, well some do) -Rev M Baczynski - Atheist Minister
jirai 12/18/2004
How in the heck did witchcraft rate above atheism?
Beelzebub 12/02/2004
Intellectually lacking, silly new-age thing.
warrior4thelor d 06/26/2004
If its not of God, it is of Satan.
LadyShark4534 06/20/2004
It's not witchcraft! It is a pagan nature religion! Two different things, people! Sheesh, Pick up a book at your local library and READ before making stupid statements about Wiccans or even witches. Wicca is a religion that practices and preaches peace and to leave others alone. Why can't other religions be peaceful like Wicca? Wiccans do not go around bombing abortion clinics or screaming Infidels like many other fundamentalists. Wiccans are peaceful people. Wicca teaches to respect the enviroment and to respect people. It's just too bad Wicca is confused with witchcraft. In the religion of Wicca, You are not supposed to hurt anyone!
ANSGARD 06/07/2004
i rated it five cos first of all, wicca seems quite intersting, plus people that practise dont hurt anybody, unlike the muslims...so its good religion then
linguist16 06/03/2004
Most of it is pointless, like fluffy spell-casting and gibberish-chanting, but it actually teaches to cherish the environment, which I agree so I have to give it that. I'm atheist by the way.
personwithcomm ent 04/27/2004
First of all, hullo, Wicca is Pagan but Paganism isn't necessarily Wicca. Kinda like a square is a rectangle, but not all rectangles are squares. Wicca, which means shape, in the way it is usually practiced now, was brought to America from Europe fifty years ago. Those who are really into it and are in covens and such--I see that as the same as any kind of religion; a group of people who have institutionalized rules about the Divine. I believe everyone must find their own path. A lot of books about Wicca are misleading; they say it is the world's most ancient religion, when actually animism (the belief in an interconnection between everything in existence, and that all living things have spirits, like in Native American and Pagan religions) is what dates back to prehistoric times. Most who practiced it were egalitarian, believed in the Mother Goddess in one way or another, and were very peaceful and kind. Neither women nor men ruled. P.S. I hope person below isn't talking about me, considering all the prejudiced comments on this subject. The only thing I said that wasn't based in fact was that I choose to find my own path.
ladydragonfly 04/25/2004
Wicca will always be a misunderstood religion , i just wish people would take the time to learn whats its really about before making such prejudiced comments. Blessed be ~LadyDragonFly~
Jed1000 03/30/2004
I live in a part of the country where Wicca is practiced extensively. From what I see of them around town they appear to be a bunch of friendly uber tree huggers who like to dress funny and dance around campfires. Harmless.. and they have a great respect for nature, which is kind of nice.
Enkidu 03/29/2004
Bunch of good-natured nuts, in my experience. Always up for a party, and pretty much fun. As far as I'm concerned, they can believe anything they want.
kolby1973 11/23/2003
Even though I truly believe that TRUE Wiccans have their hearts in the right place, I am just not convinced that MOTHER NATURE is my god...
CanadaSucks 11/21/2003
An absolute joke but I give Wiccans three stars because they have some real hot smart/alterna girls that practice this stuff. One the serious side, Wiccans tend to be rather smart and open-minded. . .but I don't take this stuff very seriously.
dsmith58 11/21/2003
This is just an attempt to slap God inn the face. We'll see in a hundred years!
Eagle Scout 11/18/2003
Wiccanism is a religion with a false history. The Anglo-Saxons erased most of the early Celtic/Druid society, including the religion, from the isle of Britain. To further obscure it Christianity followed to whipe out almost all that remained. All that was left were a few holidays that Christianity adopted and changed to fit the teachings and life of Christ. Some secret mystery subcults may have been able to exist in Medieval Earope, but they are just as closely related to modern Wiccanism as Xena, Warrior Princess is to the historical medieval world. Therefore, the orriginal religion is now dead and forgotten, while the modern version is a fantacy with no basis whatsoever. To cover this up wiccans often protest that members remembered it from a former life. The actual possibility of this is neither here nor there, but I find a religion to be more beleivable when it has had direct contact from its orrigins to modern day. When push comes to shove, I think that there is something seriously wrong in beleiving that a witch can summon spirits to do ones bidding, whether you call it white magic, black magic, real or imaginary. Please understand, I am not one of those Harry Potter haters just because those books contain the subject of witchcraft. I realize that Harry Potter uses non religious magic and is only a story.
Cavey 11/01/2003
an' it harm none, do as ye will. People are people, no matter the race or faith(or lack therof). Be good to all and respect all life. Protect the earth which takes care of us all. This will make the world a better place. Simple, is it not?
nicrules_007 10/15/2003
I am a christian but I dont think that you should bring your own beliefs upon anyone else. It is totally cool that if you believe in something and it makes you positive than that is ok.
fuzzyfreak 10/13/2003
I am sorry, run that by me again? Since when has a female pubescant outlet been a religion? Perhaps masturbation and zit popping should also be a religion. Isn't the belief in witchery and spells for lost lesbian teenagers?
StanUzbeck 09/23/2003
I know that Wicca has gotten a bad name from reactionary Christian groups, and its practitioners were put to the flame as quick as they could be discovered (actually, most of those burnt in the middle ages weren't Wiccans). I know that it is a celebration of male and female spirits as equals, and of the Earth and all of its components, and I'm all for that. I also think it is ridiculous to accuse them of Satanism or of anti-Christianity, because the concepts of Christ and Satan fall far outside the sphere of Wicca. However, I will never give any religion more than one star out of five. And don't message me to tell me that atheism is a religion, because I have heard all of the arguments and I am not going to waste my time trying to debunk them to people who aren't going to be convinced in any case. Although, keep in mind that Wiccans have a history of never going to war with non-Wiccans, so they get my respect for that as well. But in this forum, my respect does not equal more stars.
tencat 08/24/2003
Deranged; chanting to tree spirits, jumping and acting like animals, and luring the other teens at school.
kurst 08/19/2003
Wicca has NOTHING to do with demonism, satanism, anti-christian-goddism or any form of evilism people! your predjudice derives from Roman history 2000 years ago, when the new christians felt threatened by ancient pagan religions... BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THEM!. Isn't it time to evolve? Wicca is probably the most peaceful of all religions...Witches celebrate the air, the trees, the sun, people, friends, stars and who ever created these things...( are you christians going to tell me that the devil did? ) They don't worship man and im sorry but christians are the ones guilty of self-worship. I don't know any wiccans who conjour up demons...this perception is uneducated and ridiculous. There has never been war fought in such brutal egotistical rightousness in the name of wicca. stop judging and educate your selves with an open mind!
Don't Cry Now 07/30/2003
Wicca is an extremely peaceful, docile, and tranquil religion. Mormons are the ones bombing abortion clinics! I think that if we ought to preserve a religion, It is wicca because wicca promotes peace!
AEnzhRu 07/22/2003
I was into the Wicca religion and was a "witch" for about 6 months not too long ago. I'll tell you. It was 'interesting.' They claim that their religion predates Christianity, they hate the fact that everyone calls Paganism Satanic and most of their religion is based on ancient Paganistic rituals, nature-related crap, and sometimes casting spells and tarot card reading. I didn't get into the Wicca religion because I wanted to be Wicca or I believed it. I don't and I still don't. I thought it was interesting to find out about it and funny. While I clearly denounce it as false and funny, I do believe that they are misunderstood and misinterpreted and not the Satanic cult of a religion I, personally, thought it was. Still, Christianity -though only 2000 years old- predates everything (an older form of Christianity was practiced in the days of Adam and Eve. Look out though, folks: I may still haunt you yet with my witchy ways. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!
forgotten hero 07/20/2003
These people are truly misunderstood. Throughout history they've been labled and oppressed.
AngelSoFine 07/05/2003
Wiccans are friendly wonderful people. They have to be the most peaceful people I have ever known.
Kennit 07/03/2003
*sighs* I don't even want to get into the fear-ridden, ignorant comments left so far on this topic. So I won't. I know that I practiced Wicca for 3 years before leaving that particular path. I now follow a mix of Celtic Reconstructionalism and shamanism, to try and describe it. There was and is nothing inherently wrong with Wicca, it just wasn't for me, as the Christianity I was raised with wasn't for me. I think if I had to put a deciding factor on my decision to stop following Wicca, it would be my frustration and disagreement with the Threefold Law (an it harm none, do what ye will, whatever you put out will come back to you times three). As I mentioned before, Wicca is right for some. Not for me.
Crystal Lovestorm 06/30/2003
Unlike many other religions, Wiccans don't enforce their beliefs on people. And they're not violent unlike Christians or Mormons when it comes to their religion.
RebelYell1861 06/26/2003
Witchcraft is evil. Plain and simple.
emly123 06/26/2003
i hate prunes who think god is everything, and that only their religion is right. face it...no one beleives in the devil in wicca, grow up and stop being religious freaks who beleive stuff that isnt even true. if there was an allmighty """god""" why doesnt he just kill all the stupid people in the world....? thats what we need, so we can be rid of worshiping weirdo's. Wicca is the only true, old religion out there, with roots based on things that are real!
Diggity911 06/09/2003
Nothing but a fad for club kids. Wicca is basically a build your own relegion, the reason it is popular with people is because they can twist it and bend it to their liking. Well I hope you Wiccans enjoy your stay in hell
sidhe15 04/24/2003
Wicca is not about evil. There is no evil in Wicca. It is about earth, not Satan or whoever he is. The Christians made the devil and they can keep him. I don't need some evil being and a place of eternal suffering 2 scare me into doing what is right, that's how it is with wicca. Christians have made Wicca into something bad and that's sreotypical and wrong. Wicca is not just witchcraft. Witchcraft is a part of it, but all witchcraft is is believing that something will work because you faith in it. It's the same way in the Christian religions, if you have enough faith in god, than good things will happen for you, that's what casting a spell is like. You have to believe, it's rather very much like prayer, it's just to a different being or god or whatever you want to call it. I have no quarrel with Christians and they should have none with me. It is important to take the time to understand each religion before judging it. You can't judge Wicca from the stories you learned as a child about evil and deadly witches. You have to learn more.
Magickal_Moonl ight 04/20/2003
Wicca is a peaceful, earth based religion. And Wicca is not witchcraft. You can be both a witch and a wiccan, or be either a wiccan or witch. Also, Wiccans don't believe in Satan. The devil is a christian creation.
SFNinja 04/16/2003
Satan comes in many disguises, and Wicca is one of them. Unfortunately, the ones caught in Wicca's web of lies are often depressed, impressionable teenagers looking for a quick fix to their problems. The answer lies in right action, not demon worship.
