McCain wouldn't be healthy enough to run, wouldn't be conservative enough to win the nomination and has engendered enormous resentment among the conservative faithful, which would lead to a harpoon-fest, every time his name would be brought up. Many dems love him because of his outspoken criticism of the hated GWB, but he's no Zell Miller. Having been suggested as a running mate for Kerry in '04 ended any hope of running for prez in '08, as a republican, anyway. Could possibly be a Perot.
