this scared the crap out of me i was shaking for 2 days

It's a really lame concept for a movie (a video that kills you after you watch it?), but I admit that it freaked me out for a couple of days, and this is the first and only movie that's ever done that to me. It was long and drawn out, and the beginning of it was just horrible (they could have come up with a better opener than that), but those little kids in that movie were just SCARY . . . . I'm not talking about that little girl, that little boy was kind of freaky! Did he blink ONCE in that entire movie?? And, yeah, the ending left much to be desired. I'm hoping that the original Japanese version fills in the gaps that this movie had.

I just watched this movie last night. Way too much hype; even my friend at Blockbuster recommended it to me. I watched the little girl that was in the movie on Fox in the Morning and even she laughed when the interviewer seemed surprised that her mom let her watch it because it was supposed to be so scary. I may be in the minority here, but I have to agree with Axelrod2003. Can someone tell me where the scary part was? I also agree with BigBaby. The ending totally sucked. Too many unanswered questions and pieces that didn't fit together. It seemed as though the director had several ideas going at once and couldn't decide which direction to go. A very sad disappointment but if you want to watch it just to say you watched it, go for it. It is your money.

not really scary. When someone watches this video they get a call that says "seven days' then they die seven days later. when this woman's niece dies afoter watching this video she tries to unravel the mystery of what is the Ring? she does her investigating and finds out some clues.and at the end what the Ring is. an okay movie but not scary to me.this movie has all the tricks to try and scare people such as extra loud phones, making it look like someone is behind you or following you etc.I do not know what all the hype was about though.

The beginning of the movie looks like another scary-teen movie, but it's not! Very nice act, and very nice plot.

I've just seen the Original Japanese version (Ringu, 1998 - http://us.imdb.com/Title?0178868). The movie was very quiet(!), but scary like hell. Look forward to see the american copy (some reporters say this is even a better film)!

I hated the f***ing thing! It was so darn scary! It got me so jumpy that it wasn't even funny! The ending was the worst I have seen in years. What is it with modern horror movies and bad endings? First jeepers creepers and now this! Why did they have to kill the guy? He was the only cool guy in the movie. That's totally not how I would end a movie. And I just wanna say that the part of the reason why the movie scared me so f***ing much is that it was so nasty! I mean the dead bodies didn't have to be so ugly... And BIGBABY is right, too many unanswered questions. I think the horrors should be scary while you watch them and the ending is supposed to rid the viewer of all fear, because everything is supposed to be explained. My butt! And considering that the movie was actually a rip-off of that other japanese movie, its identical copy one might say, the director has done a poor job. Message to the directors: please, don't make so f***ing scary senseless movies!

Bad movie. It was allright until the ending. Coming out of the TV at the end and killing the guy completely ruined the movie. Who made the videotape? What was the thing on horses about? Too many unanswered questions to be good. It wasen't a tad bit scary.

If I could give this movie a minus rating, I would. This movie sucked so bad, I got my money back at the ticket booth! Don't waste your time on this one, or your money. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! They just don't make horror movies with any real horror in them nowadays. The last movie that actually made me pick my feet up off the floor in sheer terror was "The Exorcist". Do yourself a favor, rent a classic, and hold your honey tight.

I loved this movie and I saw it twice at the theater. I think teens are more into it because they get scared easier. I thought it was so creative with not too much gore, it kind of sent chills down your back..the way scary movies should be!

Quite possibly the worst movie ever, except maybe for Scary Movie 2. Made no sense whatsoever. I am still trying to figure out who made the videotape or how, or why the little girl was so evil.

People said it was great, and i only thought it was decent. It wasnt scary, although the plot was decent. That kid was great though. Why is callmetootie's opinion allowed on here?

Scary little thriller takes too much from Sixth Sense to be original, but still has frequent jump-out-of-your-seat scares. Ms. Watts gives an memorable performance as a news reporter.

OMG, it was SCAREY! For teens like me who saw it, we almost pissed ourselves. After my cousin saw it, he unplugged his TV when he got home and my best friend accidentally stepped on the remote and turned the TV on, though she didn't know she did and she screamed SOO loud! I thrive on the thrill.

Just goes to show how two people can see a movie and have two polar opposite opinions of it. I thought this was one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. If you like slasher movies, this is not for you. The fear is in the suspense. The theatre that I was in was filled with people screaming at the appropriate moments and quiet at others; a sign of involvement. No oscar worthy performances, but every one of the characters is believable. I'd recommend this film to anyone looking for an intelligent, suspenseful, thought-provoking movie.
