I am a kmart worker... YEah! actually its not too bad... although I am looking for a new job with my free time. working the sunday 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. shift help setting the ad can just be nightmare shift. I usually get about 4 or 5 false advertising complaints from customers. Even if we have the item sometimes... and they cant find it... people will just come up to me and go off.... some items we have on sale week after week... eventually kmart is going to run out.....The store i work at luckily has good employees and a good manager....The funny thing is that the nicest customers there are the people that buy guns.... I mean i have sold like 15 guns and these people have to wait 30 to 40 minutes for everything to get processed, and they are as nice as can be..... and then you get these people who yell at you before you can even say anything..... one guy went off on me saying he doesnt know anything about a weight set.... the guy didnt even ask me a question yet... he just expected me to tell him what he wanted to know... in fact I had a weight bench just like it and knew a good deal about it..... The other day some lady was looking at treadmills and I happen to be walking by... she was like you have all these treadmills on sale and you do not even have half of them..... so she goes on and says do you have the treadmill you had on sale 3 weeks ago for 85 dollars(Like I remember what that one is)..... so i ask her if she could tell me what kind of treadmill it was.... she couldnt.... she just starts yelling at me.... and is like can i talk to someone who knows something..... I dont know what to say.... So I ask is there any other treadmill in our ad that you would like me to check..... she tells me the cadence 55 ..... so i excuse myself and go to the stock room.... so she tells someone just leaving that i left and starts bitching to them .... so i get paged back.... on the way back i ask the sports lead guy if we have them... He says we only have it if it is on the shelf.....so i go back to her and tell her that.... she asks who told me that.... i tell her who and where he is(he is covering the service desk.....so i go around looking on the shelf for this treadmill(which i should of done already)... i see it and call the guy at the service and tell him to tell her we have it....she comes back and just starts ripping on me...... I apologize and explain that I didnt look on the shelf first because she was standing about where I thought it mite be when she asked about it(I was on the other side of the isle so i didnt notice)the truth is she was being so persistant that we didnt have anything i didnt stop to think to look on the shelf... neither did she i guess.... so anyways when i say this she just storms off... well this is towards the end of the day on one of my long sundays..... help plz...........emailme jbushy_10@hotmail.com

Kmarts return policy states "all returns without a receipt will not be accepted" no store credit. So I hope no one gets a gift they don't like from Kmart without a reciept.

It would take too long to explain here what happened to me today when I tried to return un-opened items I bought 16 days ago with the original receipt to kmart. I never usually shop there anyway, but I will certainly never shop there again unless they have a major shift in their brand. The store is tacky, rude, unprofessional, and sneaky. Any other major store would have honored my return. I didn't even want to give them one star because that is insulting to the star.

i hate kmart, and hope to never have to shop there again. went yesterday reluctantly for an advertised sale item (one day only). got there at noon. item was sold out, no rainchecks. the thing is, it was not available for purchase on the internet, and the store was so disheveled that the item may have been in the store and unable to be found. there is not enough help there, and the stores always look unclean. i vow to never go there again.

My husband and I have never been big Kmart shoppers. Tonight though I must say was will be my last vist for a very long time. I had an issue with writting a check there. In the end it turns out the clerk must have done something wrong. Because after calling there little 1-800# and unable to find anything.I ask to speak with a manager. I asked for her to try my check again and it works just fine. Do you think I got any kind of apology for the embarssement. NOT! The response was, I'll talk with that cashier. Can I do anything else. Thanks but you done more than enough.

It is OK. Staff are usually friendly to me and help me out, although there is a longer wait and K-mart isnt the store to go if you want to pickup something in a hurry (due to the lines.) But the quality of products is average, sometimes poor. Ive had to take things back to K-mart a few times due to something eg not working. And when you do take something back, they put it back on the shelf again anyway. Because there was once a time when I brought a fluorescent light globe but the light didnt work. So I took it back for a refund. But before taking it back, I put a big, green fluoro texter line around the cardboard tubing the light came in. I deliberately did that so I wouldnt get the same one because I just knew they were going to sell it again. So I got a refund which was good and so the next time I went to K-mart a few days later, I decided to get another light but guess what, amongst the fluorescent light globes, guess what? I saw the light with the big green line on it, ie the one I had taken back, they put back on the shelf. Well that is just one story. Apart from that, the other cons include the fact that the clothes arent as good quality (some of them are though), the staff are OK (ie sometimes you do get the unhelpful ones) and because the staff are less professional, you cant eg ask them how you look in a particular thing you are thinking of buying. In K-mart, it is more of you are on your own type of feeling but it isnt as bad as some stores like Big-W. The product range is OK (average) but I do find the quality to be a bit less and you have to fish around for something which is good quality. Plus I dont like the fact that the K-mart near my house took out the café about 13 years ago. The café was really good too. Now a new addition to K-mart is K-mart radio which I dont think is a bad idea. They have music playing and a friendly sounding voice making announcements and wishing you a good day. Some other pros include the fact there is a more casual feeling and prices are reasonable. Put it this way, K-mart has been adequate for me. If I dont like a particular product or they dont have what I want, I just go somewhere else.

Definitely not the store it used to be. I stopped going there a long time ago because all of the merchandise looks really cheesy aside from the Martha Stewart line. The only thing I like about this place is that I can use my Sears card there but the only thing I would buy from there would be a patio set or something. The clothes look like Family Dollar styles.

Ah how the mighty have fallen. My mom used to take me here atleast twice a week while she shopped. I always loved looking at all the toys, and after she was finished shopping she would take me to the cafe to buy me an Icee. Their prices were really good too, and their products were much better than Wal-Mart's. I hope they make a comeback, but it's not looking good. But 5 Stars just for the good memories.

K-Mart needs help before they fold. You can not get help when you need it and the wait at the check-out is too long. Unless K-Mart improves its image and customer service it will continually have to close additional stores until it has none left to close.

I absolutley love Kmart! They have great, quality products that last a long time. Their stores are clean and employees are very helpful and friendly. At wal-mart (the dirty w) their stores are dirty, their employees are not friendly and Their products are crap. Yes, Kmart has had their hard times they have shown that they are here to stay. They emerged from bankrupcy and learned their lessons. Since then they have become more customer service oriented. They have added alot of quality products and they truly love their customers. I also like target. they seem to be on the same page as Kmart. i would love to see a world without Walmart Kmart and Target have their priorities straight and truly value their customers.

I used to shop at both Kmart and Wal-mart but recently the service at Wal-mart has been getting worse and worse and they products are not nearly as good of quality at Kmart's Martha Stewart line. Now I usually only go to Kmart unless I'm forced to go to the hellhole we refer to as Wal-mart.

THis is a great store. Much better quality than Walmart. And it is community friendly. It worked 25 years ago and it works today. It doesn't put everyone out of business like these ridiculous Walmart SuperCenters. Walmart is trying to buy everything. SHOP AROUND PEOPLE! Thats how you get a low price and quality. I would rather pay twenty dollars for a premium martha stewart product than some cheap generic walmart product.

Kmart is more expensive in most items then Walmart, I have compared prices since I am a bargain shopper expessially on big items like vacuums and stuff of that sort. Last week I seen the exact vacuum they had at Kmart, but at Walmart it was exactly 20 dollars less. Kmart also has less variety of items then Walmart and Target at my location the Kmart has no sewing material, cloth and items of that sort and also don't have a wide selection of candles, sorry but im a candle nut. Also Walmart is cheaper on their candles, alot cheaper. Christmas ornaments are also a whole lot cheaper at Walmart then at Kmart...I usually shop at dollar general strores or walmart for low priced ornaments and gift wrap. Although Kmart is sometimes alot easier to get in and out then other department stores, if your in a hurry..sometimes not always.

I love our local Kmart! It's always been a good store but with a new manager, it's even better. They've removed clutter from the aisles, keep everything spotlessly clean and have made displays more attractive. The Martha Stewart and Jaclyn Smith brands are great quality for the money; the shoe department is excellent! Wal-Mart goods may be cheaper but they're definitely cheap in quality. Wal-Mart clothes and bedding/towels are HORRIBLE -- they unravel, shrink, and become otherwise useless after just a few washings. The clothing and domestics I buy at Kmart last a LONG time. I would be very sad if Kmart went out-of-business.

Depends on where you go. some are bad, some are good, just like people. you cant blame a corporation for the kind of people that are in each store. you cant blame the store employees for what it is the corporation makes them do. I mean, think about it...who goes to college to get a job at a discount store? you arent likely to find a whole lot of people in one (kmart or walmart) that are going to care if you find what you were looking for. Kmart is trying, that i can say. they have come a long way & they have a ways to go. I personally dont see any differance between a K and W store. they are both full of teenage kids who dont care.

very expensive for cheap stuff. can get the same stuff at walmart for many $$$ less. I worked at walmart and would hear many people say they almost bought it at k mart untill they looked here. nothing beats walmarts prices, and if they do they will compare, k mart will not compare unless you have a add. and thats sad if you have to take ads to a store to get them to mark down their prices. wouldn't it be nice to just walk into a place knowing their the cheapiest in town?

Once upon a time, Kmart was a solid store (nothing extraordinary, but they got the job done on many different fronts). You could walk in and find something to fit your tastes. Of late, the place seems to be drying up; no clothing, broken toys littering the aisles, an automotive section that resembles a ghost town, and a downbeat staff. Will the Sears merger pull it through? Too early to call. The red-state rejects swarming into Walmart continue to strangle the likes of Kmart, but I feel a sea change in the works. It'll take MAJOR revisions (right down to branding, warehousing, management, et al), but it CAN be done. Patience is the watchword.

K-mart is an excellant store. Although they have been struggling recently, they are doing everything they can to improve their stores. When you walk into a K-mart you get a nice department store feel & smell like at the old Ames, Caldor, and Bradlees stores that don't exist anymore. I enjoy going to K-mart and I would rather go there than Target or Wal-mart anyday.

Love it, a great place to do a little shopping. I have always noticed that K Marts are a little dirty, atleast the ones Ive been in, but they have good stuff at some reasonable prices. But dont go to the electronics department, they have no idea how to price stuff there. I once saw a 3 year old Madden Football game for a system that was no longer being made and they still had it marked at $50.

While Kmart might be in some twine now, I truly believe they will fully recover surpassing Wal-Mart and Target. While their stores are possibly cramped and dark, I think their selection in some departments surpasses and exceptionally stomps competitors. Their products carry great warranties and service, and most of their merchandise is of the highest quality. Sales staff seem very polite and know their job. People giving sales staff bad ratings, should realize that certain asscoaites may not know the sales floor in specific, and therefore may not be able to help them accurately. But in most stores, their are CALL BOXES that you push a button and a sales associate will help you. I LOVE THEIR PRICES, SELECTION, AND SERVICE! I give them 5 stars! Stomp Wal-Mart, KMART! ONLY IN THE K! (this replaces Right here. Right now.)

At first I gave Kmart a 3(ok), but I'm raising it to a 5(great). The reason is that now that I shop at Kmart alot now, I'm starting to see lower prices on things in their stores. That's a good thing. I know their prices can't be as low as Walmart's prices because of the fact that Walmart employees are not unionized and many other reasons. All retailers are feeling the blows from Walmart and Kmart should not be singled out for slightly higher prices. I enjoy shopping at the new improved Kmart and others should to.Go Kmart!!

I guess I shop at a different K-Mart then most of the other posters here because I love my local K-Mart. I go there all the time and I have never had a problem. I find the store is always clean and usually in good order. I've never had an employee be rude to me. In fact, a lot of the old-timers at the store I shop at know me by name bacuse I'm in there so much. They have a lot of nice seasonal stuff. Their prices are fair. True, some of their clothes are crap and look awful and worn out after a few washings, but I've also found some really nice outfits there that have lasted me quite a while. I don't know why so many people don't like Kmart. As far as I am concerned, Kmart is perfect. All of you people that are putting Kmart down need to realize that Kmart was there for YOU when you needed them. A world without Kmart is beyond imagination. Kmart is the best, generous, and most caring company in America. If you are one of those people who love Wal Mart, just remember that if Kmart is gone, Wal Mart will raise their prices big time, The service will go way way down and then you will be begging for Kmart back. KMART HAS DONE MORE GENEROUS THINGS TO ME THAN ANY OTHER COMPANY.I love Kmart! I support Kmart! I believe in Kmart and I stand up for what I believe in! Sure, they have had their problems, but who hasn't? Sure, they don't have a lot of cash right now, but despite that they are still wonderful, caring and generous. I agree that are somewhat low on money right now, but do you think that they are happy about that? No, they aren't. But they are doing all they can and they are doing a very good job. Kmart was always there for their customers when they needed them. Wal Mart may pretend to be caring but they are not. I will always choose Kmart over Wal Mart. Since Kmart has helped me big time over the years, I will gladly help them. Some people may not realize this but Kmart is the most generous company out there. Kmart may be understaffed at times but what you people don't realize is that employees don't always show up when scheduled. That's not Kmarts fault. Kmart isn't any happier about it than you are. Kmart schedules employees and trusts that they will show up, however incidents occur when employees can't make it to work. Possible reasons could be: Car accident, sickness, death in the family,etc... I hope you get my point. Don't blame Kmart. If employees don't show up, it is beyond Kmart's control. When you needed merchandise, Kmart sold it to you. Stop complaining and realize that nothing and nobody is perfect. Kmart is moving forward with the help of loyal customers. Do yourself a favor and support a good company

I never had a problem with K-Mart really. But the one in my hometown recently closed down. This was bound to happen because of its incompetent workers and eternal (and usually single) checkout line. But when I was a kid I do remember the rare times I went in there I always seemed to find something kind of interesting, usually along the lines of the toy department or sporting goods, that Wal-Mart didn't have.

Kmart during the late 1980's had surpassed Sears as the nation's largest retail chain. I wish I knew what happened to the management who got them there, because Kmart has certainly dropped the ball since then. Their stores are cramped, dirty, old, dark, and low prices aren't enough to get me to shop there any longer. Employees are not very helpful, and it's hard to FIND an employee on the sales floor for assistance. Say what you will about WalMart; their stores are spacious, clean, well lit, and most employees are very nice. WalMart didn't destroy Kmart; they did it to themselves. As a retailer, Kmart seemed to forget what got them to the top, and 15 years later they are suffering the consequences: chain-wide bankruptcy. I'd be surprised if this company lasts another five years.

I hate Kmart. Their stores are ugly, dirty, and cramped, everything they sell is really cheesy, and their selection is quite limited. The only thing I can say in defense of Kmart is that they're cheap, but other department stores are just as cheap and not nearly as crappy. Stores like Wal-Mart and Target have made Kmart obsolete and Kmart don't seem to be doing anything about that...they keep getting worse while the other chains keep getting better.
