Great voice, beautiful, talented, but from what I can see, very bad attitude! I love her songs and her message! But, Avril, be nicer!

Her CD is awesome. I like every song. Very hard to find these days. I like her work, her voice, and shes pretty darn kool.

Nope, don't like her. Shes a poser just like Simple Plan. She's a pop star that tries to be punk...hmmm...just like Simple Plan.

Avril is m favorite singer. Her songs are the events in my life put into song. She has a great voice, but i'm not a big fan of her punk dress style. Otherwise, luv her.

I have to admitt that i like one of avrils songs and i used to be a fan of avril's but suddenly she began to change her style to of a more sexy style i guess i could say. Avril said many times that she wouldnt change her appearance, blah blah blah. All of a sudden Avril has a slight change in clothes, she says she is growing up and into different things. Well didnt Christina Agulara and Britney Spears say the same thing.......while Avril critized them about their appearance. Looks like Avril is a future pop star that is going to wear revealing clothes. Anyway i cant believe how an awesome guitarist like BEN MOODY(used to be in EVANESCENCE) could work with her one or a few tracks....he is even thinking about being a touring guitarist for her :S that is crazy....no one that lame deserves BEN MOODY. And as the expression goes.....AVRIL IS A PUNK/ROCK POSEUR!!!!!!!!

Avril makes all types of backwards claims to appeal to the brainwashed masses, and then pretends she never said them when confronted. She is a liar and I feel sorry for the people who believe her. And anyone who thinks she writes her own songs is obviously misinformed. Not that it would be very impressive if she actually did; He was a boy, she was a girl, can I make it any more obvious? What is that? I do know that she's starting to namecheck Nirvana, God forbid...has she any idea who Kurt Cobain IS? She obviously doesn't know who Sid Vicious is, either. She seems to think she is somehow like him.

First of all, why are we obsessed with labels? Can't a person just dress the way they want without trying fit into a certain mold or clique? I enjoy Avril's songs but I hate her attitude towards other musicians and other styles of music. I just think everyone should have respect for other people's decisions and stop trying to place them into cookie-cutter images. Musicians should be judged by what they produce creatively-not by whether they wear ties from Hot Topic.

I don't like her music, but it's always better than britney spears or christina aguilera.

Although she has POSER written all over her face, she gets this one star just because she is decent looking.

Every few years there comes along a young angry chick who appears to be the opposite of everything on the radio (the Britneys and Christinas of the world). This is no accident. It is calculated that way. Alanis Morrisette, Fiona Apple, and now Avril. Shove poppy crap down people's throats until they can't even think straight and then give them a 'tough' 'angry' 'no-nonsense' chick and people will eat it up. Her interviews only expose her as an inarticulate dumbass, and anyone over the age of ten should have enough intelligence to see her for the kind of pre-packaged pap she is (my co-worker's eleven-year-old daughter is even aware of what a poser she is).

OK, it's been established that she's a major poser, and while she does indeed embarass herself in every single interview and photo shoot, that would be forgivable if she made some half-decent music. But her songs are completely unoriginal, uninspired trash that couldn't possibly appeal to anyone over 16, and have very annoying choruses. Also, while her voice may sound decent on the album, her live performances have been absolutely miserable, suggesting that her voice was enhanced by studio effects. And I don't believe for one minute that she plays guitar or writes her own music - not that her songs would be anyhing to be proud of if she did write them. Oh and by the way, her music is teenybopper bubblegum POP...what the $%&# is she doing in the Alternative category?

Avril is a confused young girl. For one thing, She says she is punk. Total punk. But when asked to name punk bands, She can't name any. Avril also tends to bash other singers too. She says bad things about them when promoting herself. She is very egotistical and has her head in the clouds.

I almost feel it's beneath me to rate this garbage, but I'm magnetically drawn to bashing bad music. Here's my critique: Avril Lavigne is indicative of the multitude of studio artists, posing as punk to capture the ear of America's misled and uninformed youth. When I grew up in the 80's, punk was The Misfits, Black Flag, Reagan Youth, etc... It was energetic, hard and do-it-yourself. There are still punk bands out there, i.e. Turbo Negro, NOFX, All, but they don't want the media attention that the posers get. It is the way it should be, but it bothers me to see a skinny 75 lb girl talk about how tough she is, from her repeatedly worn wife beater, to the bracelet store around her wrists (How Steve Tyleresque). I'm sure, somewhere along the way, some fat guy in a suit said, "You need to enhance your style”, so she ended up with punk, probably drawn from a hat. The sad reality is, she didn’t do her research. Punk isn’t just cosmetic, it comes across, musically, as punk. If the opposite was the case, they could slap a couple of Mohawks on the Backstreet Boys and have them churn out their usual drivel. I heard the ‘Complicated’ song and thought it was another country singer making a pop crossover. So why does everyone act as if it’s nothing that this girl is feigning punk style, badly I might add, and singing sugary sweet pop? Quick answer is no one cares. Avril Lavigne will make one, maybe two more albums and be on Where Are They Now, talking about how she’s “into other things”. She’ll ride this wave of stardom, until her fans are old enough to reason and they’ll deny they ever listened to her.

I would love to give Avril more than two stars.....but I can't. And I will explain to you why. Avril is a good singer. But she tries so hard to adapt to the "punk" lifestyle when she's never been able to name any punk bands until now! Also, Avril's fans get really on my nerves. Especially all you 17 to 24-year old girls going down to Hot Topic buying ties and wearing socks on your hands to look "punk" or "hardcore". Please, Get a life. And if anyone dare say anything about Avril, You almost sh*t your pants. Pretentious goth-punk girls started obsessing over Avril. They make her out to be this large perfect goddess and because they give her that image, It makes it easier for us to hate Avril. We see her flaws a lot lighter now. I know a girl who WORSHIPS Avril Laveigne! She never stops talking about her. She even has a religious shrine to her in her bedroom!!! And this girl is 19 years old! Like I said, I would like to give Avril more than two stars, but her fans have made her overrated and overplayed.

I knew a girl who was obsessed with Avril. She bought the ties Avril wore. She planned on getting an Avril tattoo. She danced to Avril's music. She worshipped Avril at a shrine in her room. Anyone who didn't like Avril my friend automatically hated. To this day, I cannot look at Avril without thinking of how psychotic some of her fans are.

WHAT ARE YOU ALL THINKING? Avril Lavinge... is absolutely NOTHING like "Britney Spears" or "Christina Aguilera"! She covers her self up! She doesn't like being in the spot light, she writes all of her own songs (LET'S THINK, DO BRITNEY AND CHRISTINA DO THAT? I don't think so!) & she's a very compassionate person. NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS. Did she ever call herself a punk? NO. So just lay off and look at their view. Don't be jealous because she's better than you! (How else do you think she became famous?)

She is ok. I like the catchy songs, and she is cute, too. But overall, I really don't see a serious career ahead for her unless a change is made soon.

I have no strong feelings against her but I am rather tired of all the exposure she gets on t.v. and the radio. For the record, punk music has never required talent. It's always been about attitude.

yeah, well being the always correct person that i am(except in my english skills) i had to comment on this. yeah wilshakes1, avril has said she is punk (unfortunatley simple plan has said they are to and their definition of punk was very incorrect) but thats off subjest. even if she didnt say she was, she gives away enough hints. and even if she didnt do that.. she would still be 1. people dont have to say ther are punk to make them poseurs. now, it's hard to wear a hat sideways or even my playboy bunny tie without being critisized and told i am an avril poser or something. i know this cause right after she had made the skater boy video,(wich i had not seen at the time) i had worn my hat like i often do when i am skating with my friends, and i wore it to the side. i got one of those comments from a punker (a real one) that i know and i got really pissed and my friend informed me of avrils video. so not to mention that fact, she is a posuer, but not the only one, but she and other bands like good charolette and simple plan just make the quickly growing # of posuers worse by influencing them and 'trend setting' or whatever u want to call it. well i dont have time for my long opinion and this subject, but there is part of my comment. later!

Her punk pop is O.K for a teen artist IMO, at least it doesnt torture my ears as much as the other "R&B" singers / monkeys. But her trying-to-be-a-punk attitude kicks me off the chair. I think it's very immature and fake.

Avril Lavigne is just another media made pop star who follows the trend. its cool to be "different." really its just copying what people have been doing for years... the media pulls people (mostly 11-16) in and tells them what is cool. Avril lavigne is just doing what is cool so people will like her. Personally i would rather die then go along with conformity and be "cool"

Just a punk rock\pop singer from canada. Can't be compared to canadian singers who are an icon in America such as Shania Twain or Celine Dion. She doesn't have the quality of them.

I wasn't going to take the time to even rate this piece of trash, but now I feel compelled to because the other night I was flipping channels and I saw some behind the scenes thing on her and I was completely dismayed at the bratty, obnoxious, talentless, self-righteous skank that was tainting my TV screen. Why can't you Canadians keep your trash in your own country and stop littering the rest of the world with stuff like this? ha

Another talentless pop star du jour. Five years from now, people will be saying "April who?" if they're not doing that already. She's a spunky, cute little thing, but emblematic of what's going wrong in mainstream music for the past 15 years or so: image counts for everything while the quality of the recorded and performed material takes a distant second place.

As if I needed another disposable teenybopper to brighten my day. So the girl's got a voice. Big deal...I can't stand her inflection, and I REALLY can't stand her songs. Complicated (particularly the chorus) was an utter atrocity. Perhaps she can be enjoyed as stupid "catchy" pop in some scenes, but I have yet to find them. Aslo, I might add, she's incredibly arrogant. "I'm not gonna stop rocking until teen pop is dead"...well, then, for God's sake, START rocking already!

I don't like Avril Lavigne. Her music is pretty much bubble gum pop, and despite this fact, she disses other pop singers and calls them fake, etc. She also boasts that she can play the guitar, and though I've seen her pose w/ guitars in pictures, she's never played it live, and as far as I know, she didn't play it on her cd. She's a pretty boring performer when you watch her live, and she doesn't hit the high notes live nearly as well as she does in her cd/videos. So, though her cd is no worse than any other pop singer, I don't like her.
