Dill is ok for cooking fish (some mediteranian cooking etc), but not for Japanese cooking...
So, it depends on what you want to cook.

Dill weed is a very versatile little herb. It's good with poultry, fish, in dips, salad dressings and to perk up bland veggie dishes. Pleasing but not overpowering aroma and taste.
