My dog loved how it tasted and it sounded like a great concept. But within a wek she was in the emergency vet clinic with pancreatitis. I can't think of any other thing in her environment that cold have caused the illness and the timing is just too much of a coincidence.

The only food our husky pup (8 months) does well on. Tried everything under the sun, and he had terrible diarrhea for months... until I decided to go grain-free, even though high protein levels are sometimes not recommended for larger breed pups. His stools got better right away. Orijen gave him terrible gas, and he did OK Nature's Variety grain-free, but still gassy. Once I picked up a bag of Evo to try, we've never looked back: his coat, eyes, ears look great, he is just a blur of fur and energy (well, he is a 8 month old husky!) and his stools are finally good, w/o disgusting gas. I've read somewhere that more primitive breeds like huskies do best on high-fat high protein diet, and this seems to be true for our guy.

Our other dog, however, doesn't tolerate this food too well. He does best on a lower protein grain-free food, and is doing great on Acana (same people as Orijen, but lower protein and MUCH cheaper!)

All dogs are different, I guess, but thank goodness for EVO for our husky!

I previously wanted to put my Basset Hound puppy who is 6 months old on Blue Buffalo dog food. However, I was not able to find this dog food, so I went with what I believed to be the second best choice, Innova Evo's Red Meat Small Bites. This food is filled with Beef and Lamb Meal, Venison. I chose this dog food, along with the help from the staff at MetroPetmarket in Regina, Sk. I was told that a lot of owners choose to put their dogs on a dog food with chicken, and for variety, I should try my puppy on a red meat dog food.

Well, since he has been on this food for a week and a half, the results are still not totally 100% as he is adjusting and getting used to this food. We mix this food with his old crappy food (Pedigree), and are slowly adding more of EVO and less of Pedigree. Alone, with a couple of kibbles in my hand, Watson gobbles up the food fast! He absolutely LOVES this food, but Watson is a Basset Hound afterall, and they do love food, so that may/may not be saying much...

So, all in all, so far so good. I can see already that his stools are becoming more solid, he honestly doesn't smell as bad (even though it's been a short time!) and bad breath, is not as horrible as it used to be. Literally his breath could have knocked anyone over, it was THAT BAD. (we do brush his teeth by the way, and give him lots of bones/rawhides, so it was most likely diet attributing to his bad breath.)

I can see this being a dog food that I will be having him on for quite some time, and in comparison for the amount of money that I payed per month on a crappy dog food, Innova EVO is only approximately $10.00 more for a bag. I think this is a fairly good deal, considering I can a.) feed him less b.) his breath is no longer stinky! c.) he is getting a better diet nutritionally and c.) he loves it! Watson used to sniff his Pedigree sometimes, then walk away, then come back because he loves food. But I could tell that he was getting tired of his food, and was trying to tell me to switch it up!

I was also advised to not only feed him better quality dog food that is full of meat and higher in protein and with no fillers, but to as well switch up his dog food, as dogs were meant to eat different foods all the time, and for their digestive systems to have to adapt frequently to changing food sources.

The sales girl gave me some other samples of dog food to try with Watson, in case I want to look for other foods later on. She gave me Canisourse, which is a completely natural dog food that is full of real meat, and no filler. It is apparently actually dehydrated, and can be fed dry but also reconstituted with water. (Watson also loves this!) She also gave me Wysong Optimal Performance and Addiction LaPorchetta for Dogs, which is a free-range Pork Formula which all of these Watson gobbles up like crazy!

If anyone is from a small town and doesn't have total access to better dog food or is close to Regina, Sk I would highly recommend checking out MetroPetMarket as they have highly knowledgeable staff and have great products, both food, toys, food dishes you name it!

I will add an update as Watson is on this food for a longer period of time. But as a final review I can say that this food is great, my dog absolutey LOVES it, and he is already starting to not stink as bad! (which is a major plus for me! :)

I rescued my pitbull last year knowing she had a very sensitive stomach. Long story short: EVO was the third dry-food that I tried with her, and it is by far the best. The low fiber is perfect for her sensitive digestive system; no more accidents in the house. With her extremely high energy level, the dense, high protein keeps her going. She is much leaner and has really packed on the muscle since switching her to EVO. It runs around $17 for a 6.6 lb. bag, but I know I'm getting the best quality ingredients that money can buy.

If you're looking for a grain-free, high protein, low carb dry dog food, Innova EVO isa fantastic choice. High calorie, but protein based calories... this means long-lasting satiation, and good, sustained energy. Fantastic especially for dogs involved in high-end activities and competition.

I would love to feed my dog raw but I don't have the money, time, or the knowledge. My nine year old dog was pretty healthy but she didn't want to eat her dry food unless it contained something like cheese or little bits of chicken. I didn't want to keep feeding her something she didn't really like. She barely even touched the stuff. I got a sample pack of the EVO small bites and my dog gobbled it up!!! I don't know if i should mix her old food with the evo for a week or so so she adjusts correctly but she hates it!
I feel bad feeding her the food she doesn't like....
What should I do?

this is a really great, high quailty food. the only thing that concerns me is the high protein level because of this, I've only feed it to my dogs after they've been spayed/neutered or had any other type of sugery.

It may not be bad for all dogs, but I think everyone should be warned about the very high protein levels. My 11 yr old has eaten EVO for many years. She had a blood test frecently before going on some arthritis meds and the liver enzyme levels were very high. After a few weeks of liver meds not working, I took her off EVO and she's is improving, finally. I wish I had realized earlier. I hope I haven't caused her permanant damage thinking I was getting the best in high protein.

I originally bought the Flex Beef and Barley by Innova. My dog devoured so fast she threw it up. I am not blaming the food at all. I should of cut it up more. I fed her the EVO, she seems to not eat it with much vigor as the Flex though. She gets very tired after eating but seems to have alot more energy than when I was feeding her other dog food. I think she gets gassy and has to rest. I trust this company though, I used to feed her Beneful by Purina and researched it and found that it was the worst possible food to give to your dog.

I may have to go back to the Flex more since she is eating it. Has anyone else tried it?
Please advise, I would appreciate your comments. Thank you!!

I have a pure breed GSD and had problems for years with upset stomach, eating grass and throwing up bile in the morning and then would not eat as her stomach was too upset. I always fed her high quality food. No purina or crap food. It finally dawned on me that due to throwing up bile in the am was that the food was not staying with her. I even tried feeding her before going to bed at night and still did not work. I tried Evo and I could not believe the change. She does not get us up at night to go outside. She was having 3-4 bowel movements every day and now she has 1 or sometimes 2. I have had her on the Evo large bites for almost a year now and she has not been sick once. It is the higher protein in this food that stays with her longer and has made all of our lives so much better. I only feed her about half of what I was feeding her and she is maintaining her weight. Unbelievable!!!! Thank you, thank you EVO!!!

P.S. I add a tablespoon or 2 of sugar free yogurt each feeding which aids in digestion. Works perfect and she loves it. Can't wait for me to get dish down in front of her.

First of all, are we rating Innova or EVO? These are two separate brands of food produced by Natura Pet yet are not the same food. I recently switched both my adult cat and dog to Innova and they are doing very well on it. I previously fed them both Science Diet until I started doing research on alternative foods and realized I was depriving both of my beloved pet's of a properly balanced diet. Innova is a great food and I'm glad I switched both of my pets to a healthier, all natural diet. Just remember when switching your pet's food to any other brand to gradually mix in the new food over a 7-10 day period to prevent any gastrointestinal upset.

This food is the best! I have a 3 year old 50/50 black lab and chesapeak bay. I was feeding him a cheep brand dog food for the first couple of years. One day he started having sezures. I read that many dogs have an alergy to gluten whitch is found in many dog foods with grain products as their primary ingrediant. I did not want to put my dog on medication so i thought i would try switching his food first. I now feed him the red meat large bites. He has been on this food for about 6 months now. He loves the taste and has not had another sezure sence. Highly reccomended for active dogs!

Evo is great. I love how I can recognize all the ingredients on the bag. I believe this is one of the few best foods in the commercial dog food market. I also like the fact that Natura makes their own food. Just make sure you DO NOT feed this to puppies. EVO does not make puppy food. Only Innova.

I have three field breed Gordon Setters, two come from Springset Kennels. I had them on PROPLAN, directly from my vet but they had skin problems and their coats were coarse and dull. I switched them to INNOVA EVO and within a month all skin problems went away (probably grain allergies as PROPLAN is considered good dog food by most)...the most obvious difference was there coats. They turned very shiny and smooth.

Innova is very expensive but it has paid for itself in the reduction of visits and medicince associated with the vet.

im very interested in changing my dog's pedigree to evo, however i have questions to ya experienced wit it. would the red meat cause sudden aggression? what is the best food to mix it with? the only time my pitbull gets diarriha is when she eats a can of wet food from pedigree. so is she considered to have a weak stomach? also, she just turned a year old and my main goal is to keep her happy with her food and get more muscle. is evo best for her? hit me back

Innova EVO Dog Food 1

Beware of this food (canned puppy Innova)- I know the ingredients are good, but I just got back from the emergency vet with my 12 week old puppy because I introduced this food to him with his kibble. It is VERY rich and while I may have given him a bit more than I should have, I didn't think it would cause the $400 vet bill and 2 hours of frantic worry that we just endured at the 24 hour emergency vet. I put about a soup spoon's worth in with my puppy's dinner with his regular dry food, and within about 30 minutes he was lethargic, shaky, clingy, and couldn't keep his eyes open as they drooped. He then proceeded to vomit everything that he had eaten the entire day, and then some. After vomiting 4 times, we took him in. I know that you are supposed to introduce food gradually, but he was recovering from a cold and I thought he deserved a little treat. The treat turned out to be x-rays, a peptid injection, and a doctor's note to feed him rice and ground turkey for about 2 weeks. From what I have read, food that doesn't agree with dogs causes loose or runny stools. This was completely frightening. I will never let him touch the stuff again.

Our two dogs (5 year old male German Shepherd & 7 month old female Lab/Shepherd mix) have been on on Innova EVO Large Bites for 4 weeks. I mixed EVO in with their current food, Fromm, and during the first week they both had very foul smelling feces which eventually dissipated. Initially they both ate the food with gusto and appeared to really like it, however over time, my 5 year old GSD began to walk away from the food. He is naturally thin and normally has a healthy appetite. He has been on Dr. Goodpet's Digestive Enzymes for the past 4 months which has tremendously helped with his loose stools. Since he's started walking away from EVO and he can't afford to lose any weight, I have added yogurt, canned tuna or asparagus. He goes bonkers for asparagus. :) I would have given EVO 5 stars but since he has grown to severely dislike eating it plain, it prompts me to only give 3 stars. Our 7 month old lab/shepherd mix loves any food she gets and she feels the same way about EVO; loves it. They have always had healthy and shiny coats and they still have them while eating EVO, however, the female lab now has some dandruff.

Innova EVO Dog Food 5

okay, so this dog food is an amazing food...just not for all dogs. The reason why the stools can be smelly and messy is because the protein content is very high unless you have an extremely active dog. sometimes the initial smelliness is because all of the bad stuff that was trapped inside your dog's intestines and colon is coming out...also you may have switched too fast. it can take up to 3 months to fully switch a dog to a high protein food. think about what detox does to us. evo is made by natura which is a great company and if evo didnt work for your dog try Innova or Healthwise (also made by natura) If your dog has a sensitive stomach evo is definitely the wrong choice for you. Natura also makes California Natural which is a great food for dogs with sensitive stomachs and skin and coat problems. When buying dog food, just make sure the first ingredient is a meat source...no by-products (heads, feet, feathers, intestines and undeveloped eggs), also only buy a food with whole grains such as brown rice (high in B1 vitamins), oatmeal (naturally good for the skin), and pearled barley which has the hull taken out...avoid brewers rice, any corn or gluten, and wheat. Also make sure the protein content is something that your dog can handle...evo is very high...try with a protein content anywhere from 26%-36% if that is a problem. EVO might not work for your dog, but it doesnt change the fact that the ingredients are high quality, the meat is real and it is grain free. its a wonderful food, unfortunately, my dogs can't handle it either...they eat healthwise mixed with Merrick dry and canned food. evo is great i give it five stars and two thumbs up =)

We just switched to this food because of the bad things we'd been hearing about Nutro. Also our dog didn't really like the food anyway. She loves EVO and eats it up so fast. Although, now after a few days she stinks! Has anyone experienced this? I'm thinking it will go away after her system gets used to it, but if not I don't know if I can take it. That being said, she definitely likes the taste, and I like the ingredients so we may stick with it. Its nice to see meat as the first four ingredients, and no corn at all!

Oops, meant to post that last review in the Evo Cats section, but anyway..the results with both dogs are wonderful. I have a 10 year old Labrador who lost her vision to SARDS in summer of 07, which I really suspect was a result of the Beneful she ate more of her life. Pre-Evo, I thought we were losing her..she had no energy, looked very skinny and just would look depressed. After Evo, she wants to go walkies again, has normal BM's, her coat is very lustrous, and she is her normal weight again.

Our 18 month old Jack Russell had diarrhea and bloody stools for reasons we could not ascertain from any blood work-up. After switching to Evo (small bites), he now has firm stools, the blood is gone, and he looks very healthy. Both dogs were having skin irritations before Evo..now their fur has grown back in and they look great. The Russell has boundless energy, which is true to breed of course. But to see my elderly blind dog trying to play again is just amazing.

This may not be the best food for small breeds but I have to tell my story. Thank you Innova Evo so much! I have a German Shepherd that was so skinny and after $1800.00 in vet bills the vet told me to take her home and try to get her to eat anything. (She would not eat for 5 days at vet office.)This vet visit was due to a UTI and just trying to find out why the dog was so thin. I started feeding her a raw meat and eggs diet along with evo. I have never seen her eat dry food like this! She loves it! She is now at an almost normal weight and it has only been 2 weeks! If anyone had seen this dog before, they would have thought she was about to die and I believe she was. She now looks fantastic. I am now feeding all my shepherds raw with evo and I am amazed at how good they look. I recommend this food for all full grown large shepherd type dogs.

I received a dog that was very skinny, ribs showing, and hip bones very pronounced. I tried Canadie and he did pretty good but no weight gain at all. I switched to Wellness Core and still no change. This went on for weeks. I took him to the vet to check for parasites etc nothing. Then I switched to EVO. At first he did have very soft stools, but about a week later everything improved. His coat was shinny and coming in beautiful, he was putting weight on and filling out nicely. I feed less than with all the other dog foods. He is doing great on it. I agree do not feed to large breed puppies. My boy is a 30 pound dog.

This is great food just don't feed it to your Large breed puppies because the protein level will make them grow too fast and they'll have problem with their joints and muscles later in life.

I have a lab/pointer mix and he LOVES his EVO. He's never had the Red Meat EVO because he's doing so well on the Chicken/Turkey kibble. I know that there are dogs that can't handle EVO, but my dog has a stomach of steel and his poops are nice and compact and there's not much of it for a 60+lbs dog which tells me that his body is able to absorb most of the the nutrients from the food. When I first brought him home from the shelter his stools were huge, soft, and yellow which I attributed to the fact that they were feeding him Sceince Diet which is basically corn. His coat is velvety soft and he lost the doggie odor, even when he's wet, it's very mild. I would suggest to any dog owner to at least give EVO a try and if you're dog responds well to it, stick with it because it does have the BEST ingredients of ANY food that I have researched. The first 4 ingredients, which are the MOST IMPORTANT ingredients are; Turkey, Chicken, Turkey Meal, and Chicken Meal. No other food that I have researched have such strong ingredients listed on top.

This is going to sound a bit crazy. We have thirty seven skunks (kids) with free run of our home (yes, descented). Being omnivores about half of their food consists of vegetables with the other half consisted of various protiens. In the wild skunks may only live to be two to three years old. In captivity we've been looking at average lifespans nationwide which are averaging out to be about five to six years old. We've been giving Innova brand products for several years now with great results although we do use various other protiens with them. We've also been using Evo with the skunks and I love that it's available in such small bites. As you can imagine training of skunks can be a bit tricky and I've found these small bites very useful while using it as a well deserved treat and with bonding. It's also helped us in maintaning weights. We've found that average weight should be just a little over six pounds but many skunks that we've taken in were two to three times that and one even coming to us at a whopping thirty one pounds. That thirty one pounder is now weighing less than six pounds and is eight years old, climbing over baby gates and up onto the couches,,,and they say skunks can't climb. We have found that the ingredients found in the Innova and Evo are the most suitable for our kids over any others that we've researched. Stools are well formed and coats are soft and shiny. Our goal here is maintaining the best health we can give to our kids and to insure the longest lives possible. Right now twenty nine of our kids are ranging from seven to nine years old and having excellent vet checkups. We'll surely have some very old skunks cuddled up in bed with us each night as we fall asleep. We are also liscensed animal rehabbers and have found these products to be very healthy for our raccoons, young foxes, and coatimundis. I told ya this would sound crazy,,,but there are many animal rehabbers nationwide who are having great success with these products. They're not just good for dogs. Keepin dem tails up, Unkie Milt

I have a year old siberian husky. He has had chronic diarrhea since he was about 3 months old (and was on Canidae all life stages). Convinced it was a food allergy, I switched him to science diet ZD and then proceeded to introduce single source proteins and carbs back into his diet. Turns out he seems to be allergic to grains. I switched him to a 50/50 combo of Evo red meat large bites and natural balance limited ingredient (venison and potatoe) and have been amazed at the result. He has become significantly leaner, his coat softer and more vibrant (it had been dry and brittle) and his stools are finally, finally firm. I introduced the Evo slowly and have only had one or two instances of semi-soft stool (and yes, it did smell terrible). I couldn't be happier with the results of this food and would highly recommend it. Also, the high protein content of this food is not an issue unless it's being fed to a large breed puppy. For those who think otherwise, do a little research instead of spreading hearsay and rumors.

I must submit, Dogs are carnivores, the same species as wolves, Canis Lupus. While in wolf biology, We found that wolves, even cyotes diets consisted of 98% animal protien and 2% veggitation. Only in the the spring do they comsume 5 or 6 percent veggitation. It only consist of grass and a few wild berries. We also found that they eat it for roughage, while younger wolves never ate it, and it was only in the spring. Whith that being said, european wolves never ate it except the Iberian Wolf. They only stumblesd up on farmers friuts once or twice in the summer. Never has the wolf eaten grains in the wild. Study it out and you will find truth and facts. The reason our pets get kidney failure is the source of the protien that is too high which is grain. High amounts of grain does not proccess well in short intestines vs meat.Keep this in mind, Cats in the wild; first eat their preys gut, while canines very rarely eat it. In conclsion, what most vets don't tell is;After all that school, thay only get a week of education on nutrition. In PerdueUniversity Hills pet foods give it to them. This is a fact through out the US. Now a Holistic vet is a totally different story. In fact, Hills sometimes help pay for some Vets schooling, and we wonder why they push Hills product so much. So,Evo is very fine food, fact is, that it very Rich. Each dog is an indivisual.Wrether switching to, or currently on the food, we must remember U need to feed 15-30 percent less of it. And there is a product that will clean up loose stools or easy transiton. Its called EaglePack Holistic Solution, 2 or 3 tspoons, you'd be greatful. Also, no one food is the best for all pets. There are other great grain free pet foods out there.Heres a few:Taste of the Wild, Canidae Grain Free,Wellness Core,Natures Logic,Origen,FrommFamily Grain Free,Blue Buffalo Wlilderness, and HorizonLegacy. See what works for your dog,cat and particular breed. Some breeds do better on redmeat, some on poultry, and some on fish or pork, and some a combination or rotation. If U must have grains, oats, brown rice, barley and of such alike are more healthy and talerable grains, while some animals dont talerate them well. This is food for thought.

I have something to say...hear me out This dog fog might be a great option for a lot of dogs especially mixed breeds or mutts. But most pedigrees or hybrid dogs the protein, and the fiber in these foods are way to high. More dogs than you think have a meat intolerance (mostly beef) if you notice your dog has a sensitive tummy and gets sudden diarrhea every couple of weeks the above mentioned premium food is most likely the problem.  Remember dogs are omnivores not true carnivores like a cat is.  This means that does in the wild not only eat meat but grains and certain vegetables as well. If these foods work for you dog that is great but to high protein can cause kidney problems and cause hyperactivity in dogs.  Also for everyone who insist corn meal and grains are such bad hash ingredients for your dog to digest then why is all the prescription foods for dogs with gastrointestinal  problem like colitis and IBS primarily contain them?  millions of dogs with digestive problems are on either Hills prescription I/D or Purina EN and have long healthy sustain life.  So don't knock certain ingredients until you know the facts.

Innova EVO Dog Food 5

I agree! I don't get excited about a lot of things, but good dog food happens to be one of them! Evo is a awesome food! I don't know about Orijen, I haven't heard about it before, but it sounds like you probably did some research into it so good for you. What were you feeding your dog before Evo? Sometimes dog's have problems adjusting to a better food. As far as the taste is concerned would you rather have candy or wholesome vegetables and meat? That's is the difference between Evo and Science Diet.
Evo is more made for working dogs, so maybe that is why your dog got sick. It may have had to much protein for him?? Well, it I think it really depends on the dog. I'm not sure. I would check out Healthwise, and Verus. We own a feed store and have switched so many people on to it from Science Diet and they are all doing so great! The Verus Fish and Potato formula is great for their coats. Verus is made with all human ingredients and is pretty much a step off from a raw meat diet, which is GOOD for them. What would they be eating out in thw wild?? Good luck everyone! Evo is an awesome food! Very good for them!

Innova EVO Dog Food 5

I am not one to get to excited about anything, enough to want to write about it, and if it does not have really noticeable result then I wouldn't think much of it anyway. I started getting off the main premium brand commercial dog foods (Iams, Eukanuba, Hills Science Diet), just because I wanted something (all stage) that I could use for my new pup and my much older dog, to make life simpler. I started noticing a bit of a positive difference in the older dog when I switched to an all stage dog food. But I thought maybe it was just the weather, as it was getting colder. I also noticed my older dog stopped chewing her paws, again I thought maybe there was some other explanation. But now I am completely convinced, I bought one can of Innova Evo Chicken and Turkey, just for the dogs to try out. I have spent a lot of time with my pup, as he is being trained as a working dog, I have never seen a dogs energy levels increase so dramatically over a period of one hour. My pup has a big hand me down food bowl that he likes to push around after he has finished eating. He was man handling this bowl all over the house. Also the next morning, we started his usual training, there was no doubt in my mind, he was responding better to all his commands. I am sold, I never thought that dog food played such and important role. You learn something new every day.

xJoKeRx, you should get your dog off EVO.  it is the worst food and doesn't sit well in a lot of dog's stomachs.  I tried it on my dog a while back and got sick for weeks.  I introduced it slowly to him too.  There are so many better dog food brands especially for those dogs with sensitive stomachs like my rottweiler.  I highly recommend Orijen.  It is the best dog food ever!!  My dog loves it and he's picky, and he has never looked better.  I'm telling you - try it, you and your dog will be so happy and no more diarreah!!

My american staffordshire (pitbull) is 13 weeks and still get's diarrhoea. We got the puppy at 8 weeks and have been feeding him EVO Red Meat Small bites ever since. The diarrhoea was looked at by a vet to make sure it wasn't parvo and everything came back negative. I am convinced it has something to do with the food, but I'm hesitant on switching to something else because i've heard such great reviews about EVO. I tried a suggestion by adding some plain yogurt, but that appeared to make the stool more watery.

The stool is more of a soft, ice-cream type base. I feed my puppy about a cup 3 times a day. I do not know what i should try at this point. Any suggestions? Should i try mixing the food with something else?

Started feeding the EVO Large bites Chicken/ Turkey formula. I have a Belgium Malinois and a German Shepherd. At first they had loose stools, but I continued to feed with a 1/2 and 1/2 ration of their old dog food and the EVO. This was for about a month. Now, today, (they have been eating it for about two years) they have shiny coats, firm stools and high energy levels. My only consideration is the food is very calorie dense and feeding too much will cause an overweight dog. Other than that, I and the dogs love the food! BTW... also great since the Malinois has food allergies and he can only tolerate the EVO grain free diet.

My boston was on nutro natural blend high energy dry food and seemed to be doing well. I purchased a new bag of food and immediately she developed severe case of diarrhea. I returned the bag and purchased innova adult small bites. I did not have any of the old food left; therefore, I was not able to mix the foods together. She loves the innova but still has the diarrhea. What should I do?

We feed both regular Innova kibble with Evo 95% canned as a topper (about half the can). Not that it needs a topper, but we love to see the dog dance around and quiver with excitement while we prepare it. He loves the Innova but LOOOOVVVVES the Evo canned even more. Yes, I too have noticed some gas, this is very rich food. However, I would not change foods solely based on this. I'm surprized any vet would recommend Iams, a low ranking 1 star food, according to dogfoodanalysis.com. I can admit being uneducated about dog food, until we got our dog and I did some research online. However, you would think that a trained vet ought to know better. If a dog truly needed more fiber, then use regular Innova more than Evo, as it does contain some fiber.

my dog loves this food, but he has terrible gas all the time.  my vet is telling me it's because he needs more fiber in this diet and is recommending that i switch him to Iams.  Anyone else having this problem?  Other than that we really like this food

we only feed our dogs Innova...it cost more , but whats your dogs health worth? You will stave off early death due to cancer , liver, or heart failure..even our vet still recommends Science Diet...we must educate her. Go to dirty secrets of dog food , you'll be SHOCKED!!!
If you want your best buddy to eat euthanized pets from shelters, and 4D animals and road kill...and also patronize companies that do research on companion animals , then feed Iams.We raise Bostons and they are like our children..needless to say we ONLY feed Innova.

Enjoy seeing a food with less controversial ingredients (i.e. corn and beet pulp)However, I do feel the need to respond to those touting the high protein source. Yes, dogs are wolves. And yes, wolves do eat meat in wild, as well as roots, leaves, grass, etc. It is important to remember that in the wild wolves do NOT have a steady diet. Wolves do eat primarily hoofed mammals or rabbits depending on if it is a grey wolf or red wolf. However it is extremly important to remember that wolves do NOT eat every day. Wolves have a very low hunting success rate. Most domestic dogs do not hunt and are on a steady diet. So while in the wild a wolf needs a very protein rich diet. For the average domestic dog, 42% is just too much. There are other foods out there with premium ingredients and a more accurate protein count.

We have had our harlequin male great dane for two years. When we brought him home, we put him on Innova Large Breed Puppy and fed him that for the first 1.5 years of his life. We mixed in a 1/4 can of Innova Wet Puppy Food every meal. This gives him a more delicious meal than just dry food alone. We have recently switched him over to the Innova Large Breed Adult and his stools seem to be thickening. He has NEVER had a gas problem or digestional problems. He has done great on this food. I HIGHLY recommend Innova to any giant breed. Our only issues, as most, is the high price - $65.00/33lb bag every 3 weeks. Yikes!

I have to say that this is a really great food. The main problem is that it's very expensive. When I first bought it, I was warned not to give my dog too much, because it's so high in protein, she'd get diahrrea. She's been on this food since she was 12 weeks old, and we swapped her off it while we were low on cash. Her coat wasn't as shiny, and the other food ran out faster or didn't fill her up. As a dog food, this will always be my first choice. Especially since there are no by-products and very little, if any, grain. I don't want my dog eating beaks or hooves (or other euthanised animals, that I read can be under the term by-product).
