The quality of this food is the best you will see besides orijen. The main fat source is Sunflower oil which is a very consentrated form of omega fatty acids. So thats good and bad. I gave it a 4 because with recent science and research says that super high protein can cause kidney failure.

Even since feeing my 2.5 year old Golden the reduced fat Innova, he has had mucosy stool. We fed it to him months ago and it happened, then forgot about it and bought another bag and the same thing happened. We are trying to switch him back to the regular food. He had gained a few lbs but feeding him this and him waking me up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom isnt the way for him to loose weight. Be careful with this product. Causes upset tummy and bad mucous.

I rescue/foster, and own several different mix-breed dogs varying in age and size. My dogs are raised on a mixture of homecooked diets and regular kibble. I tried Innova on a few of my dogs. My larger, younger dogs did well on this food; They were more charismatic, stools were small, and coats were nice and thick. I prefer to give Innova as snacks for some of my energetic dogs that burn a lot of calories like my Border Collies and Australian Shepherds. My older, or smaller dogs did not do well on this food; The food seemed to intensify behavior issues(aggression, anxiety), their stools were loose, and they had excessive anal gland buildup. I didn't really like the texture of the food as well.

I have an 11 month old English Bulldog who has reacted poorly to Evo. I put him on this food due to his allergies. I transitioned him over slowly over an entire month, but he stillhad diarhea. I also agree with the earlier post that it's bad for smaller dogs kidneys due to the high protein content. This will be the second food with a 42% protein content I've put my bully on and both times he's become unable to "hold it" and this is a dog who was potty trained at 9 weeks. It's probably fine for husky's, labs, and other large breed dogs, but not the smaller guys.

I have an Alaskan husky (think sled dog) and German Shepherd. Both love the taste of Innova EVO. My AK husky has been eating it from 10 weeks, to his current age of six months. Only problem he has is loose stools, but his weight and energy are great, so I'm not too bothered. We tried Wellness and he rejected the food completely. The German Shepherd loves the food, maybe too much. She is a BIG eater, and will eat four bowls a day given the chance. The ingredients are quality, and great for dogs that run 2 or more hours a day. Their coats are beautiful, energy levels are great. Price is an issue because this food is expensive, but for the quality it is the best food you could buy. My dogs are performance athletes so I want to feed them only the best. I've settled on Innova due to the high calorie content, quality ingredients, and my trust in the Natura company. I'll keep feeding, unless it becomes too expensive, where I'll switch to a high energy sled dog specific food. Right now, we're doing well.

After trying several brands I've settled on Innova/Evo. Purina One and Royal Canin were causing excessive shedding, and I had to feed large amounts to keep the dog healthy. Blue Buffalo caused continual diahrrea. Now I'm feeding Innova (regular) and Evo, and my Lab/Beagle mix is doing great (good stools, fur is good, energy is high, maintaining weight).

in reading all of these comments i am amazed at the sheer number of ignorant responses. Evo is the FIRST grain free dog food ever on the market. The next "grain free" food on the market didn't come until several years later. Natura has a full 5+ years of scientific research and formulation testing over all grain free diets. Secondly, yes, the protein levels are high in Evo, but these do not lead of kidney problems. What leads to the problem of kidneys is not the level of protein but the QUALITY of the protein. A very low quality protein (think "chicken by-product") is harder for the kidneys to process than a more pure protein like "Chicken" or "Chicken meal". Also a lack of adequate water intake leads to an increase insistance of kidney related problems. Typically is is recommended to add canned food to the diets of aging dogs and cats to help increase water intake to keep kidneys functioning. Of course if you've been feeding your dog something like dog chow or canidae, switching to Evo can be difficult. You're going from junk food to a very healthy pure food. It can be rich and you should only switch your dog to the food gradually. Also whoever wrote this evo description is completely incorrect. Evo is not made of "chicken and turkey parts." That would suggest a by-product. It is made of fresh chicken and turkey meat as well as chicken and turkey meal ("chicken meal" is dehydrated chicken meat. They remove the water because chicken is about 70% water. Removing the water makes the amount of chicken heavier.) Finally Evo is not high in Ash. It is fine for cats who need low ash, although California Natural chicken and rice would be better.

When my wife and i bought our akita pup from a breeder, she was feeding him Iams and we switched him to blue buffalo, with blue buffalo he wasn't crazy about the little chicken pieces and his coat was getting full of dandruff,my wife and i went on the computer and started researching dog food and came across EVO no grain dog food red meat and thought we would try Kuma on it....that was the best decision we ever made he loves it and gets excited every feeding time and he never did before, the dandruff has gone from his coat and its now shiny and vibrant,he has more energy and his stools are smaller and more firmer...All my wife and i can say now is THANK-YOU INNOVA.

I tried a sample of EVO's Red Meat large bites on my 2 year old Golden Retriever. Without more than a second of hesitation, she gobbled it down. She usually checks out her dry food, sniffs a few times, walks away and comes back to nibble... as if forcing herself to eat it. With the Ancestral Diet Red Meat, there was no toying around. She was happy to eat it. I bought a small bag to try out this week. In just a few days, she is burping and farting less, and seems more active. She weighs 97 lbs and needs to lose a little weight, so I'm only feeding her about 2 cups per day, more in the morning and less at night. I am not really concerned about the protein level being too high because I'm cutting the portions back. Plus, carnivores typically would eat more protein than we think if left to their own survival. I will post again to provide an update.

Great food but not for large breed puppies - the calcium content is too high. Our boys did okay but their stools were loose and they weren't crazy about the taste.

This is the only food I have been able to find so far that my English Setter girl caneat without getting the runs! poor baby... but she loves the food and does great on it. She eats Evo Reduced fat as it in itself has a lot of fat compared to other foods, in my opinion. Thank you Innova!

As to my previous post I feed only the original EVO and Cat I havent used red meat as I see no use for it unless your dog is allergic to poultry
boxergirl92109 09/28/2008
The ingredients are top notch. Unfortunately, my boxer pup just would not eat this food. When he did his stools were very loose. It could have been his age and/or just his personal reaction.

There seems to be a production problem with the EVO large bit formula and the cat formula. The 2 bags of large bites dog food would turn to dust even as you put it in the bowl. The cat food did the same. The small bite was just fine. (We have a lab, 2 cocka-poo's, 2 cats) I called EVO and there only resolution was to send me a coupon for a small bag of food, sorry but those 3 bags cost me about $135.00. I will be looking for another food to spend my $175.00 a month on.

We've fed a combination of innova evo (orginal dog formulation), combined with origen (made by champion foods), for over a year now to our 7 year old poodle/terrier cross. She has been getting raw food in the evenings (usually urban carnivore), in addition to her kibble in the morning. She has done wonderfully, and lost down to a healthy weight compared to her previous obese state she was in from feeding a mostly iams/purina pro plan diet. Our 4 cats also have been on a combination of innova evo (cat formulation), and origen cat food, and then half the time they get raw diet to. The youngest two cats that were overweight lost down to a healthy weight, and the two oldest that were severely underweight with little muscle tone (one age 14, one age twenty) both have gained muscle and act much younger. Our vet has been very pleased with the improved health of all of our furry family members, and I highly reccomend innova evo as being one of the best dry pet food formulations around.
Note though, that for about the past week we are doing a trial run of Horizon Legacy (another grain free kibble) instead of the orijen and innova combination, mostly because it does not contain potatoes (unlike the evo which is one downside to the evo), and it is made locally to us. So far it is also an awesome product, but I wouldnt feel badly if we had to go back to using innova evo in combination because it has a proven track record.

My dog loves this food. It is great for allergies, improved his coat, and is very nutritional. The only problem is that it is very expensive. But, it is worth it because he likes it so much. He goes crazy every time he sees the bag.

Please be aware that this IS a great food, but is very HARD on the KIDNEYS!! Especially in small breeds. We have a 5 yr old Shih Tzu. He is allergic to EVERYTHING, Innova Evo, Chicken was the best with the least allergens. It did reduce the poop, not that his tootsy rolls were and issue any ways compared to my lab. It does make the coat beautiful. We almost lost our Shih Tzu though. This food and this food alone was the cause of my babies Kidneys nearly shutting down. It was AWFUL! We had to go through Many days and night at the vet and weeks of IV fluid therapy at home and loads of money at a vet to fix this problem. His Kidney is forever damaged. Innova is a great food and I still tell people, just check your fur babies kidney levels periodically to be sure everything is functioning normally. As in everything, this was MY experience, just sharing :)

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know how amazing this dog food is! I am the proud mommy of 3 babies! I have a 5 year old Lab, 5 year old Yorkie and 10 month old German Shepherd all of which I have been feeding the Innova Adult dry food mixed with the Evo Red Meat Large Bites (about 3/4 Innova and 1/4 Evo) with 1 tbsp. Evo Chicken and Turkey canned food. I can't rave about it enough! I have been feeding it to them for about 3 months now and the changes in them have been amazing. My Lab had the worst shedding issues and from the very moment I switched them to Innova he sheds maybe a quarter of what he used to! All 3 of them have the best glossy, beautiful shiny coats (I'm a hairstylist so of course my babies have to have great hair too!) and people comment on that everywhere we go. Any time I take them to the vet for their checkups he can't believe how great they look and how healthy they are. I also didn't have any issues with feeding the same mixture to the Yorkie, a lot of people said they had trouble with feeding it to the smaller breeds. She didn't have any weight gain or any other issues with it at all. I don't have one bad thing to say about this food and recommend it to anyone who will listen to me! The only advice I have is that you do definitely have to switch very slowly and gradually to this food. I found it best to limit the Evo in the mixture to only a 1/4 of what I feed them as it can be a little bit too much on its own with the Innova making up the remaining. The Evo would be great to feed a puppy from the very beginning but it is hard to switch after they are used to food with grain. It takes a little bit longer to adjust to the grain free Evo, I think it's too rich on it's own in the beginning. Your baby might get very loose stool, which does dissipate farther into the transition. Just take your time with it and don't rush it. I love it and can't believe I ever fed them anything different. I will never switch to a different dog food, unless of course I have to for some crazy medical reason. Everyone should recommend it to every pet owner you know!!!

Awesome food. Dog remains in great health with a beautiful coat. Unfortunately its not her favorite...
Mntrop 08/07/2008
This food is the best I've tried. We were feeding them the Merrick formulas with decent results, but when our shop started carrying the Evo they gave us some samples and our dogs loved it so much they didn't want to touch the Merrick anymore. We also transitioned them over to the Evo in about a 3 week time period and they had no problems at all. They have nice high gloss coats, firm stool and just love the food in general. We only have to feed our 85# Dobe about 3 cups/day, so even if the price tag seems a little steep, you do get more bang for your buck.

Tastes great! And my dog likes it too.
Love4Dogs 08/02/2008
I actually feed this to my boys at dinner time.. I love it, couldn't ask for a better kibble. It takes an adjustment period and you have to kinda tweak what the bag says by feeding more or less based on your dog's poop... but after you figure out the perfect amount to feed your dog.. your dog will radiate in health!
aussieryro 07/27/2008
The best quality food but runny runny stools is what I got. My dog was on Innova Evo Red Meat and he LOVED IT but it gave extremely loose poop, I thought it may have been too rich for him so I switched to Innova Evo large bite ... still no luck. He's now on a less expensive food and his stool is perfect now!
katy052480 07/23/2008
I have noticed that a lot of people, especially when they first switch to EVO, seem to notice the loose stools and release of noxious gas from their pooches. They best advice that I ever got was to put plain yogurt on the top of the EVO. It cured the gas and runny stools within days and works wonderfully! Hope it helps. :)

I just started my 3 chocolate labs on EVO. I have Mom (Saydie)-12 yrs old and 2 of her pups (Bonnie & Clyde)-9 yrs old. My reasoning was mainly allergy related. Both females chew their paws incessantly and Saydie has had miserable ear infections for years. My vet has given her antibiotics, but I wanted to find something better. The dogs have been working it in for 3 days now, so I have a long way to go till they are on it exclusively, but reading the comments has me a little worried. As soon as I brought the dog food in the door, Saydie wanted it. This is a FIRST. She only eats when pushed and given some sort of topping on the dry food. She wanted to eat this one out of the bag! I am happy with that. The problem is that I just went through a scare with Saydie's liver enzymes and do not want to do that again. I had put them on Canidae and she stopped eating. She would literally pick out the Canidae and not eat it. When I took her in for blood work, her liver enzymes were over 2700!! We had an ultrasound and her liver was enlarged, all other organs fine. I had, in the meantime stopped the Canidae(which may or may not have been the cause) and put her back on Eukanuba for Labs. Luckily the vet suggested that we wait a week and check again because it could have been caused by blockage from the food change or infection or anything. We got another test done a week later and they were down to 320. Now, a month later, they are normal. Am I pushing my luck on this food? THere are not other problems with Saydie. Bonnie is diabetic and gets insulin twice a day, and Clyde is just one big happy bear of a boy. This food sounds fantastic and I want my dogs to get the best.

I have been using EVO for about 3 months for my 9yrs old 50lbs mix breed. First Chicken formula where she gained so much weight I decided to switch to reduced fat formula. I did see a great improvement in less shedding. I switched foods very slowly and am now on the reduced fat completely. In the last week she has become severely dehydrated and is drinking so much that she urinated in the house twice (hasn't done this in 8 years). She has also suffered from terrible upset bowels. I have her on rice now to calm the stomach but I am going to have to switch foods. Her symptoms are the same as the pom listed in a previous post.

This is a fine food. It is quite expencive but all of your "natural" or holistic foods are. Now, the protein in this food is very high, 42% and many dogs simply can no tolerate this. High protein can cause a major problem with kidneys in male dogs. So, do not overfeed or free feed this food. EVO is great as a supplement to replace some of the dog's normal diet and to add some extra "goods". I have a dog that has mild skin allergies and once she hit a year old and went through her first heat, lost a little muscle mass and just didn't look her best. I put her on EVO Red Meat just to supplement her normal diet (replace 1/2 of her current diet with EVO) and honestly, in less than two weeks I noticed a change in both her skin and overall look. She picked muscle mess back up and simply seemed to feel better. I did end up stopping with her old food all together because I don't think she needs such high protein even though she is a very active working dog (protection sport and weight pull). I have sence switched from EVO To Nature's Variety because I do not want to feed the high protein and I do not want to place her back on her old food. So, Nature's Variety Salmon has been working very well; moderate to high protein, soy, wheat, corn, flavorings free. LOL-there is my Nature's Variety plug! Evo is great though-just be wise about it.

I will be buying my first bag of EVO red meat small bites for my 1.5yr heeler mix. When we first got him he was orphaned 4wks so was bottle fed. He had a terrible time gaining muscle mass. I was ignorantly feeding him pedigree. Following a vets advise I found a high protein diet Nutro High Energy. "Cowboy" is an ultra high energy dog currently on Nutro High Energy with 21% protein, which he was doing superior on for over a year, gaining great muscle mass, shiny coat, and always being happy, then it seems as though Nutro changed something in their food, Cowboy was having severe diarrhea, the vet couldn't find any medical reason for it, several people i've spoken with have noticed the change in their dogs they've been feeding Nutro as well. (Nutro denies any change in their food). I'm looking forward to EVO! I do have concerns on switching my couch-potato jack russell :) She's mixed with chihuahua so I think that's where she gets the laziness... My 16yr old jrt whom NEVER slowed down had passed away:( So we got "Victoria" hoping for another Super-hyper active dog, but she turned out to be more of a throw pillow... Any how I've already gotten her off Nutro on to a homemade diet (canned food makes her gassy) but frankly fixing a homemade diet is getting to be too much for me (I'm a stay at home mom, full-time online college student, and have an online business) I can certainly add some water to dry food though... Is there an evo food that small lazy dogs do well on?

I have worked in the pet industries for 10 years now and would just like to offer the following advice for people trying new foods for their dog. Every dog is different and will not always react differently to the same foods as any other dog. I work in a store where we only sell higher end dog foods such as wellness, solid gold, nutro, merrick, and all the others. I sell this food every day to people but at home use Pedigree with fantastic results. Please just remember to change your dog slowly to a new food, give it at least 1 month to see changes in skin and coat, and don't be upset just becuse I kind doesn't work for you. Hopefully you have a helpful pet store in your area. If you don't call one for advice. If they won't take the time to talk to you about your problem they shouldn't get your business.

I read a few reviews on here that said that EVO was meant for working dogs only and that small dogs don't do well on it because of the high protein level which could lead to kidney problems. I have 3 yorkies on EVO, so I emailed Innova with my concerns. This was the reply:
Dear pet lover,
Thank you for contacting us about our products. In long-term feeding studies, EVO has performed extremely well and no adverse conditions have been detected. Further, there have been a number of myths promulgated regarding links between protein and kidney failure, aging, and other health related issues. Repeated research studies have simply not been able to substantiate these myths: Quite the opposite. Much of this work has led us to a better understanding of the role that high quality proteins have on health, disease prevention, and even recovery. The EVO is perfectly safe for smaller breed dogs as well as being suitable for puppies.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any additional information or if you have any questions.

When I first got my pom I had him on the red meat formula due to his chicken allergies, shortly thereafter he was inhaling water as though he was severely dehydrated, his stools were foul smelling and dark and he was urinating everywhere. We kept him on this diet for a full week to give it a shot but with no improvement. I think this may be great for working breeds or very active dogs but the protein levels were much too high for my house dog.
poodlemom 06/16/2008
my 9 year old golden retriever does great on this product! When we adopted him he was on Pedigree had horrible breath, nasty, dry coat, and lacked energy. We started switching him to Evo and he had absolutely no problems switching over and preferred Evo to the Pedigree. Since we switched him his coat is gorgeous and he has the energy of a puppy and also no more horrible breath, his teeth are white again (not covered in horrible plague as much as before). We are completely satisfied with this product and even though it may not be the best for every dog it's the best for our dog.
RottnLove 06/12/2008
I really LOVE the idea of this food, but my Rottweiler keeps getting ear infections! I rotate between Origen Fish, Adult, and Evo Red Bites, but her ears seem to be worse with the Evo. Is this a problem for anyone else? When we do switch the food, the introduction is gradual so I am not sure if that's the problem. The only complaints I have ever heard about this food is that there might be too much protein for a small dog - but she's a Rottweiler! What's up?
jpm1022 06/05/2008
We have 5 dogs (2 full bred Cockers and 3 rescue dogs of mixed breed) and switched them from Nutro Ultra to Evo. Did the transition over 3 weeks without any problems....no gas, no loose stools, etc. We feed them less per day and keep them on the low end of the recommended amount for their weight. There has been no weight gain and the cocker with allergies (chronic ear yeast infections and biting his itchy feet) has done very well. My only recommendation, especially if switching from Iams, Science Diet or a grocery store food, is to make the switch gradually over 3-4 weeks. This food is worth the extra cost.
riiggsy 05/30/2008
The issues that everyone seems to have with the Evo is because the dogs are used to a lower protein diet (essentially a not as nutritious diet) so their livers are not strong enough to break down the protein. Wean the dog off of Evo onto Innova, it has less protein which will be easier to digest, but still a nutritious diet. I had this problem when I wanted to put my chihuahuas on a raw diet.

I have a year and a half female Bullmastiff, (Bella) 117 pounds ....We have been thru the gament on dog food issue's!! It all started with the dog food scare she was a part of that, so for her first year and 3 months she was getting homemade food instead of canned with a kibble. She developed "the itchy's" and thats when I started to try every dry food that was made ( several months back). I have had her on the EVO red meat dry for about month and a half and she still gets her Halo spots stew or a all organic 100% chicken or turkey as a topper. She has had VERY bad gas since on the EVO and the itchys are still bothering her, her stools are black which was scary at first and they smell bad. I have researched so many foods and only want natural/organic/holistic stuff going in her. A few of the post mentioned the ash content, Now of course Im concerned about that !! She gets a cup and a half with a wet topper in the morning and the same at night, with a 1 or 2 times a week breakfast of scrambled eggs, plain yogurt, blueberries with the kibble. She is not very active for the most part is a couch potato She thinks she is a lap dog! Would love to hear more feed back from others that have large breed dogs and how they are doing on it!!

I just switched my 12 year old Collie from Medical to Evo because I thought I would give her the best. She's been on Evo now for approximately 3 weeks (weaned her off the Medical slowly) and farts all the time. Not only that, but I got concerned because I noticed she hasn't been pooping. Then today there was a hard poop on the living room floor. After checking her out "down there" I discovered another hard poop stuck to her fur and she was a mess down there! I'm going to look for something else.

Update..... I wanted to try this again on my girl as it has such great reviews and she liked it at first, but has gradually started to not favor it so much. I have never, ever seen her not devour her food, so this is just odd. She has really bad gas with the food, so unsure if it is just upsetting her stomach and she is avoiding it or if she just has grown to dislike it. It is a great food though...still curious about the high ash, their website says it is because of all the meat, but Core, Orijen, TO, and TOTW are nowhere close to this ash level and they have just as high protein levels. Oh well...still good food.
My girl did not do well on this at all. The ingredients show to be good, but the high ash content makes me curious about the quality of those ingredients. I once thought this was a superior food, but no I am having second thoughts....still better than allot of other foods out there though.

Appears to be a good food, but it was too rich for my guy. He has a sensitive stomach and I think it was too much for him. The ingredients are wonderful though. I can only use the 95% canned meats for a topper due to his food allergies, but he got a very rumbly tummy from it. I switched to the Wellness 95% canned meats and the less ingredients seemed to help. Again, I do think this food is top quality for dogs who can handle it

Before we bought our Chihuahua puppy, we researched the internet for over three weeks (20+ hours) on the health and well being of our new-to-be adopted family member. We wanted to make certain she had the best food with a high protein base as dogs are carnivores with meat eating teeth and intestinal tracts with no grains as they do not have the enzymes or intestinal systems to break down these types of food. This diet would enable our new puppy to have a good foundation in life with regard to her bones, teeth, organs, skin and temperament. In addition, we wanted to try to keep vet visits to a minimum. After a truly exhaustive study and the blessing of meeting an amazing man at a Women's Show in Seattle whom happens to be a biology major (and can hold a candle to any Naturopathic Vet or Doctor) with an emphasis in nutrition and almost twenty years in the pet food industry, we made the decision to let our puppy test our top three choices in three bowls side by side: Taste of the Wild (Roasted Bison and Venison Blend), Innova EVO (chicken blend) and Innova Puppy Formula. She absolutely loves the Taste of the Wild and EVO close second. I believe she may like the type of meat better in the Taste of the Wild, so we will try the red meat blend of the EVO as the gentleman stated above raved about the human grade quality of meat in the EVO food and the fact that his dogs are on it. BTW, Wellness is a take off of this product, but not as high of quality meat or protein. She was weaned on Pedigree and when we tried to give her a sample a week later she wouldn't even go near it!!! Our puppy's health and disposition are amazing with her coat looking better and better each day and her droppings having less odor! We hope her breeder reads this website and makes a healthy change for their Moms and Pops, as well as their pups. I highly recommend this food for the health and longevity of your pet - give your dog the test and your fears a rest!!!

I introduced EVO to my lab about 4 months ago. The reason for the switch in dog food is because of the carcinogens that I learned of in other dog foods. One main reason was that my dog's coat was full of dander and he was constantly shedding. While I have noticed a change for the better in my dog's coat, I still see a considerable amount of dry skin. He is a black lab and we are currently living in Montana, a very dry climate. We will be moving back to Florida very soon. Is his dry skin a hereditary trait, or will we see a change in his coat upon arrival to a humid climate? We are looking for the best possible food for our lab and would appreciate any advice concerning his diet. Thanks so much!

I love Natura (the makers of Innova, Innova Evo, and California Natural) dog food. I've worked in the pet industry for almost 5 years and they are one of the few independently owned dog food companies whose food is readily available at smaller pet retail stores. I have two pit mixes who do awesome on the Evo. My Great Dane is on the Cal Nat though because the Evo was a little rich for him. That's the only thing with Evo, some dogs don't take well to the super high protein content. Awesome food though! Oh, and Evo is considered an all lifestages food. So you can feed it to your puppy, adult, or senior dog. We Americans have this strange thing with lifestages. There HAS to be puppy food for puppies and senior food for seniors. Wild dogs all eat the same thing no matter how old they are! Wolf puppies don't eat a different part of the deer than their adult packmates! The only reason Natura makes different lifestage foods with regular Innova and Cal Nat is because most people don't want to accept an all lifestage food. Take Canidae for example, they only make all lifestage diets. Same with Nature's Variety. If you want to feed an "instinct" diet (high protein, high quality, little/no grain, very similar to what animal would eat in the wild) don't worry about lifestages! Once the pup is weaned it can eat Evo! If the stool is still runny after a few weeks maybe the Evo is too rich. In that case try Cal Nat. Yay Natura! Wellness sucks!

After doing a lot of research on the best pet foods available, I decided on EVO for my two small terriers. I was worried at first becuase I read some eviews that stated this food might not be good for smaller dogs. That may be the case for small toy breeds, but my dogs hae done very well. They are 12lb and 25lb terriers with lots of energy and have thrived on this food. I do recommend introducing it very gradually, as most pet foods have a lot of grain and this food is grain-free, as well much higher in protein content. I spent about 4 weeks transitioning Matilda and Zigfried to the food and had no problems with stool or stomach issues. Their coats, which were always good, are now briliant and they are happier and livlier than ever. Matilda is a notirious picky eater, but she loved EVO from her first tasting, and even tried to eat the EVO kibble pieces out of her bowl while leaving her old pet food behind!

We have two boxers who are on EVO Red Meat Small Bites, and while they love it and skin conditions/eye "boogies"/other allergies have cleared up, they both have very loose stools that are VERY smelly. They don't often get treats (we just don't use them much), so we're pretty sure its the Evo. They both gobble it up, so we know they like it (we do get it wet). We are concerned that the protein content is too high. Any comments from anyone who has experienced the stool problems? We would appreciate it!

My two dogs have been on Innova Evo for 6 months and I find it to be an excellent food for them. They eat it in the morning and have a raw food diet at night. My golden retriever has osteosarcoma and when she was diagnosed almost 6 months ago this is when I made the change to Innova I needed a diet that was grain free and high in protein and as close to raw as possible. She is doing extremely well and had no problems switching to this food. You have to feed less then what it says because of weight gain. I use a holistic vet and he highly recommends Innova especially if you have a dog with a compromised immune system. My lab who is 4 is very healthy and also gets the same diet as my golden and I have found that with both, especially the lab that it has cut down on the shedding, those nasty eye "boogies" their breath is good and also my goldens ears have never been cleaner. So I give this kibble a high mark.
